Ok product but utterly abysmal customer service
Exetel have by the far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. We had poor internet speeds - which happens to people, not a huge deal - but they didn’t believe us for two months. Only after they made us complete detailed testing that should’ve been completed by a professional did they suggest we replace our equipment out of our own pocket. We told them we wouldn’t, and after another two months of this they finally let us cancel without a cancellation fee, gave us a free month after finally fixing the internet. Even with the internet f...Read more
ixed they were so bad we had to change. A real nightmare for me, and I’m tech savvy; I was on behalf of my elderly mother and they could not have been less helpful. Refused to call her back, never kept a history of her problems, never got a senior manger in touch. Never again.

Awful experience DO NOT CHOOSE EXETEL
Customer service was horrific. After 5 days of waiting, I wasted countless hours on the phone with no help to set up the service at all. And they had the audacity to charge me a fee. Never again. Stay away from this company.

No Service and no service
This is an alteration to my original review. I was without internet for eight days after only being with Exetel for a week. A lack of customer service led to a delay and what should have taken no more than three days took over a week. Hung up on at least four times. The service is holding steady, now. But a lack of communication from Exetel and my bill came through without delay. Working from home has been a nightmare. After 17 years without a problem with my previous provider this experience has been disappointing.

worse company. Do not Join them as residential or business
When I joined NBN 50 Business on my ABN, they claimed that I will have support 24/7 for any problem.
The service is not stable most of the time with the speed they promised.
When the service went down for almost 12 hours, I discovered the following:
- There is not 24 hours support. There is a voice mail system that records your issue and that is it.
- They do not post the outage on their status page to show people that they have reliable service.
- They have a long waiting on the support line when you try to call them
- They promise you that as business, they will take care of your issue on the spot which is not true. There is no business support separately. All are under 1 support line.
Be careful and think twice before you join them.

Reliable Speed, Fast Connection but common outages.
I've been with Exetel for about 3 years now, I'm on a Fibre connection through Opticomm so I don't have to deal with any of the common NBN issues. I pay for an unlimited 100/40 service and normally have no issues reaching this speed and have never had my download speed drop below 90Mbps, I'm very happy with the service offered by Exetel - when it works.
The biggest problem I've had is with outages, this morning alone I was without internet for about 7 hours starting from 5 past midnight, this 100% was an issue with Exetel and I wasn't very imp...Read more
ressed with how it was handled. I had no notification whatsoever regarding an outage and even on their website there was nothing showing any issues with my area, using third party websites I was able to clearly see that I was not the only one having an issue with my service. In 2 of the attached screenshots you can see some examples of the outages, I've also attached the results of a speedtest and included a ping test to 1.1.1.1 which is Cloudfare's DNS service. Exetel is certainly aware when an issue is occurring but fails to notify its customers or even provide a simple ETA of when the issue will be resolved, this is a big problem as I work from home and need a connection that I can rely on. When there is an outage with a service I expect some sort of notification via email or even a text letting me know there's a problem and that they're working to resolve it, with Exetel you're completely in the dark with only some larger outages being enough for Exetel to admit there is a problem.Similar opinion? I am a customer of Exetel Open networks Internet services at 81 Courallie Avenue, Hoembush West,. Exetel internet services are very bad, Worst Technical support. very poor quality both the services and support. Would NOT recommend
I have mobile broadband with Exetel and it is horribly slow! We go over the data limit most months which is our fault, Exetel charge $10 per 10gb of excess data used which would be totally fine but once we go over our contracted amount of date the internet slows down to an usable speed so I’m not exactly sure why they charge extra when you can even use it?? (This has only been a problem for the last few months, before then the data never slowed, we’ve contacted them and they tried to fix it but after 4 calls nothing was fixed). The customer service is almost nonexistent, I never get a reply but email and nothing is ever fixed over the phone. I can’t wait till we’re out of contract and can change providers!

TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY
Horrible speeds. No customer support. They squeeze every last penny out of you with a 30 day minimum cancellation period. DO NOT give them business. Plenty of better ISP's out there.

Never. Ever. Please read review.
Let's keep it snappy.
-I decided to go with Exetel for a new home as I ran a speed test and they had the best latency results and their products priced competitively.
-Signed up on contract for 12 months on NBN 50 plus with modem. Never go contract for any service but I checked reviews and official modem ISP & manufacturer manuals and it supported features I required.
-Setup and found modem did not support features advertised. Contacted ISP & manufacturer to be told a revision had been made and certain features no longer supported. Deal with it...Read more

Zero customer service
Were helpful and nice right up to signing a contract but once the contract was signed they wouldn't answer any of my concerns or questions.
My numerous emails to numerous contacts all went unanswered.

Worst of the worst
I moved from ADSL to NBN, and they wasted my time and money by asking to keep the NCD plugged in for 4 days so NBN could activate but only to find out that their provisioning team hasn't informed NBN that I did receive an NCD. once they actually did, it got activated within minutes.
Then I wanted to change my speed tier, which they did by billing me but not actually increasing the speed. after another hour of calls again provisioning team tells me although the billing and sales have done their job to increase my bill provisioning did not get t...Read more

Stay away from exetel
Service is down or has issues at least once a month. I'm paying premium and not getting what I pay for. Stick with Telstra or other well known NBN brands.

If I could leave no stars I would - Avoid at all costs
Do not go through Exetel.
Ordered ADSL on the 1/04/20 to be told connection would be the 15/04, didn’t happen. Was told it would happen on the 23/04 also didn't happen.
Today 18/05 After over a month and a half waiting for my service they send an email saying they can't connect my ADSL.
Don’t bother calling support, they hang up on you.
I’ve now cancelled my mobile broadband I have with them and will be taking my business elsewhere.

Exit Transfer Fees
Hi,
Be aware that if you transfer away they need 30 days notice otherwise they will bill you for an entire month of usage even if you are have switched provider and started with the new service. Also if you have VOIP they wont cancel it unless you tell them. They see this as different service and not transferable with the internet.
Thanks

Cheap prices, competent performance
The connection was quite unstable for the first week or so of setup, however their support team, albeit hard to reach, was of great help once you got to them. They were also wonderful in transitioning me from an assigned IP to static IP for the purposes of portforwarding. I only pay $59.99 a month and although I have seen somewhat cheaper, it is still a great deal and I normally receive 5MB/s, 2.5MB/s if my partner is also using the internet as it is split. I wouldn't reccomend this for more then 3 people at a time due to the bandwith constraints, but there are higher plans to accomodate for this. All in all, my experience with Exetel has been great.

Slow and awful
Exetel service has gone down hill in the last 6 or so months. Have been with them for nearly 2 years, it was alright at first but has gone to the dogs.
And don’t try and call support, they keep on hanging up on you.

30 Cancellation Notice
Be aware that when you terminate, they force you to pay for an additional month through their 30 day cancellation policy. This applies whether you are on a month to month or contract.

Exetel sucks
Exetel sucks.
Took forever to actually get connected.
Now it has dropped out for 2 days and no communication about when it will be back up.
It's not that hard to let customers know what's going on

Excellent !
I moved to Exetel from IiNet about 6 months ago. The only reason why I moved was at the time I could get the same service from Exetel but $20 per month cheaper.
The sign up process was simple and it was activated on the day specified.
The download speeds are excellent (48m) on the 50m plan and the ping is continually 4ms. The service is very reliable and it hasn’t dropped since activation.
There is hardly any slow down in the evening and YouTube, Netflix etc never buffer.

Have been connected for only a few days. Waiting for VoIP to be (whitelisted)? this is after setting modem to enable VioP. Getting information like pulling teeth.
Internet down last night due to network? issue, had to reboot modem as does not automatically reconnect despite modem and Wifi itself not being interrupted.
Have been Exetel ADSL customer for years and only went to broadband due to Nicole from the NBN constantly phoning and threatening to cut off our service.
Overall very disappointed, will this improve?

Hi Michael,
We're sorry to hear that you're disappointed. We would like to try to improve your nbn™ experience.
The best thing to do would be to give us a call on 13 39 38 to talk with our technical support team. Have your Exetel customer number on hand, and we'll get on the case.
Thanks,
Exetel
Hi Grant, I have contacted technical support several times to no avail, the call takers are generally very willing to help but do not appear to have the technical permissions to do anything other than promise to escalate to a level2 technician. The level2 technician then does not materialise.
At present I have reconnected my ADSL modem but now do not have Voip which I had previously.
All I need is to be able to have contact by phone or email with somebody who can actually provide factual information and make the required solution happen.
The required solution is, a self re-connecting wireless internet connection, a functioning Voip connection. Porting of my existing Exetel landline number to Voip. I am willing to pay for this to happen.
My customer number is 283536.
Thank you Michael B.
Ha, I was one of the first 500 customers with Exetel. I woke up. Numerous complaints re speed on an unlimited 100 service. Finally bit the bullet. Even on a 50 connection, I get twice the speed.
