Save your money
Bought my jayco outback eagle in 2014
Had it back to the dealer for several repairs
Roof leaks and the awning split, hardly used
I’m trading it in on a decent van
Don’t waste your money
Great experience with Jayco Eagle Outback.
We bought our Jayco Eagle Outback from Warburtons Caravans in Bundaberg in July 2013. Warburtons, as it was then, were a pleasure to deal with and very helpful. It was fitted with a lot of options specified by us, which included 2 gas bottles, 2 water tanks, hot water system, shower, Tv and sound system. We took this unit across what we call the worst roads in Australia. We travelled over the Donohue, Plenty, Tanami, the road to Cape Leveque, Gibb river Road, Cape York to Punsand Bay, as well as local trips. Did we have any problems? Well of co...
Read moreurse we did, but nothing compared to what the doom sayers were saying after we bought it and also compared to some other big brand/big dollar units as well as some cheap Imported units which we saw on our trips. After I fitted some truck mudflaps under the trailer chassis to protect brake wiring and plumbing we had no further issues. Biggest problem is damage under the trailer from flying rocks, these mudflaps stop that issue. The only other real annoyance was dust ingress, we covered the vents which cured most of this but not all. I would be extremely surprised if any manufacturer, without aftermarket modifications is trully dustproof. Would I buy another? Hell yes I would, in fact looking at buying one in the not too distant future.Jayco Journey 16ft
I just bought a new 2018 Journey Outback single axle . Was going great until I took it on a gravel road. Most of drawer fixings have pulled off and an overhead cupboard has nearly fallen off. It was only then that I noticed how inferior the cabinet work was. The most dissapointing thing was the dust entry into all the cupboards.Which ruined our trip.
I have just done a 200km round trip to get the work done under warranty and they just slapped a bit of silicone around and put a couple of bigger screws in. Hence I dont have much faith the dust ...

Onto our 4th van and still happy
We’ve just ordered our 4th Jayco through grant at page bros in Seaford and I’m excited!
They are a great value for money. Yes they have teething issues due to mass production but we’ve never had an issue getting them fixed when needed. I don’t think you’d be able to get a van without any problems. It’s part of the process! Their service team go above and beyond and issues are fixed quick smart!
We’ve loved Jayco a since we bought our first 5 years ago and will be life long customers.

2017 Jayco Starcraft poptop Outback.
I won't put in here the issues we have during handover when we ordered this van new. First major trip with this van July 2022.
Gas tank welding to A frame cracked.
Microwave ended up falling out.
Aircon dislodged from it's supposed bracket. (Piece of poly pipe was all that was holding it in place)
Pelmets and curtains fell off.
Screws holding sides of van to chassis come loose. I had to tighten these up.
Don't get me started on the dust coming into the van.
Fridge has stopped working on 240v
Quality of this van and attention to detail is shocking.

Wake up Jayco.
I have read a number of the reviews, try this for size, I purchased a brand new 2013 Jayco Stirling, we have had over 36 problems since we purchase, nearly all have been due to poor workmanship at the time of build, some of them major, I have emailed past and present Jayco CEO's with my complaints, November 18, we found ANOTHER leak, water is seeping between the walls, ALL the other leaks you could see, water has come into the caravan, (skylights, air con, wind up aerial, the shower, this isn't all the leaks,) we could not see the new leak, as...
Read more the damage has shown up in low cupboards, after my last email to CEO, the national service manager flew up to Sydney to see me, he said " he wanted to connect with me", it was more to intimidate, he had every excuse, except for factual history, I have now taken it up with the accc and the department of fair trade, If I had known about ACCC Taking jayco to Fed court ( Nov 2017 ) for not supporting customers in their claims for poor build quality of caravans, built between 2013/2015, I WOULD have joined the claimants, I believe there are a number of unhappy jayco customers out there, that gave up, trying to get things fixed, I think this needs media coverage, they (ACCC) are not happy, they (Jayco) have not heeded ACCC/court advice. Watch this space.

CONGRATULATIONS Jayco Sydney Spares
I ordered a part for my Discovery Outback from Jayco Sydney(100 approx k’s from me). A lady named Maddie in Spares told me the courier would be delivering it the following day - it arrived on time. I just fitted the part and about 30 mins later Maddie called again to make sure I received it. I was very impressed with her professionalism - she exceeded my expectations with her level of service - very professional!

Insurance repair
My van went into jay-co Darwin when another repairer in Darwin didn't do the work properly.
He was happy to take on job but i got lied to from the beginning.
Even when a cyclone was on approach to Darwin i called to advise i will collect my van and he advised me he would be putting it in the shed guess what this didn't happen.
Once i collected my van i noticed that he had not completed all the works that he quoted to the insure. When i asked him he just got aggressive and told me to get the crap van out of the yard.
I advised the insurance company not all works done, and only then did he changed the invoice to remove items he had not completed.
Build quality - No, quality is not the right word. There is no quality in their workmanship.
We have had our 16ft single axle Journey for a year now. When we took delivery there was a screw up into the inside of the microwave. Dealer replaced the microwave. We got a letter from Thetford to say there was a recall on the fridge. Dealer said it had been done, Thetford said it hadn't. Eventually service agent told me where to find the recall notice compliance plate. Deal hadn't informed Thetford it had been fixed. The front window cover flew off at about 90kph, and yes both fixing were in the correct position. Had it replaced by local agen...
Read moret at some cost. Couple of months later similar thing, saw the windows cover flapping, so I pulled over and taped it shut. I have since redesigned the fixings using racing bonnet clips. Recently met another jayco owner that has suffered the same problem. Their fixings are a design fault. Door won't shut unless you push it firmly at the bottom. There is no clearance at the striking plate at the bottom and about 6mm at the top. Again I have had to sort this problem. Trims in the 'van on the "wood" have had to be re-glued in 4 places. I will never buy another Jayco, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Avoid like the plague.Find out how Jayco Australia compares to other Caravan & Camper Trailer Shops

Solar system SILVERLINE
I have a Silverline 1 year old. Been having trouble free camping more than 2 days even in full sunlight. The 160w panel, 1battery system is just not preforming. Contacted Jayco, they just passed the buck again, said the system is not suitable for free camping longer than 2 days, everyones falt except theirs. They just ware you down until you just go and pay for an upgrade at a solar professional. Thanks Peter at jayco I will go away and get it fixed elsewhere, with someone without a thousand excuses.

Jayco have no idea
June 2022
Deciding to rent a 2018 Jayco Redhawk, 26 foot motorhome with 12,000 miles on the odometre, attached to a Ford E-450 V10 petrol cab, the following is our three week experience:
RV faults
Day 1
Glued broken GPS clamp that was broken in two before delivery
Water tap handles loose on inlet tap selection
Sink tap set loose
Trim bead lock driver’s door top needs relocation
We needed to remove thread tape from water hose, reshape fitting flange, swap inlet hose fitting with flush fitting and remove leaking pressure regulator. Now needs the flush fitting replaced as it was damaged, cheap plastic.

Plumbing problems on 19ft Starcraft
20 months old an still cant get plumbing problem fixed. When I connect hose to mains water it dribbles out of the taps, no problems using tank water with pump.. Been into 2 different Jayco service centres and still not working. Now leaking water underneath, steadily when water heater is on. Hoses keep coming loose.
Would never recommend Jayco, Would never buy one again.
My previous van ( not Jayco) was excellent, never any problems.

can't understand how they sell so many vans when they have a substandard product.
pluming problems, electrical problems, materials used failed
on our 1st trip in our 2022 Journey van we had no 240 volt due to water shortening out power in the van. I was told the earliest I could bring the van to them was a 4 month wait. They gave me other options with other dealers was a 6 week wait. In our circumstances we have found that we repair and wear the cost so their warranty to us is non existent.
Before you purchase talk to other Jayco owners as most have negative comments about Jayco.

Poor design, low quality build and worst of all, appalling draconian warranties!!
We had a Starcraft Outback and right from the start, a lot of quality and design problems...missing lock tabs for awning legs, water tanks that can’t fill, low quality cupboard and drawer handles and just breaks, soft floors, leaking shower, poor insulation, condensation problems, poor quality bed and mattress, and the list goes on and on! The worst part is once the shortest warranty in the industry of 12 months is up, they don’t want to know you anymore! It’s a bad company with draconian views on customer services!
Not good enough jayco
Bought brand new journey 2018 list of problems:floor soft only solution have extra braces fitted undervan they fitted 8 : wheels scrubbing out in under 5000 km twice they replaced 2 tyres I insisted on 8 ply light truck tyres I have bought 2 myself they say the problem has been fixed I’ll wait and see : fridge on / off button didn’t work : draws falling apart: water going in utensil draw from sink : kitchen edging not finished off:vanity tap fell out: toilet roll holder falls apart:brand new van you just don’t expect so many problems from a company that you would think would have seen all these problems before and would have ironed out before releasing on onto trusting customers

No Customer Service
I lodged an insurance claim and Bayswater Jayco were the approved repairer. Waited three days post claim lodgement, called Jayco and told (rudely) that I had to wait for Jayco to call me. They went on to bag insurance companies for always providing owners with assessment dates. Feeling I had done the wrong thing I waited another couple of days and the same individual "told me off " again for calling. I have since called the insurance company and requested a different repairer who called me within 24hrs to book the van in for an assessment.
I didn't want an immediate assessment from Jayco, i just wanted a time to bring the van in.
Not totally happy
We haven't even been off road and as soon as we drive on normal roads the draws pop out so we have to tie them down everytime we take off they (jayco) have used the tiniest screws its really pathetic especially with the price you pay for there vans very poor quality
Poor quality
Poor workmanship in my motorhome. Electric bed issues and repairs often, its only one year old! The Renault however is brilliant. Whilst majority of service staff in Newcastle go out of their way to assist in repairing issues one aggressive service staff member had me to tears. I have basically been told to find somewhere else to get services completed. Not a good experience Jayco!
Silverline Outback is fantastic
Purchased our Silverline Outback new about 18 months ago. We have done many trips over that period and love our caravan.
The service from Nowra Jayco has been great, the service manager is very professional and knowledgeable.

Jayco Adventurer
We took delivery of our Jayco adventurer a week ago and we are delighted with the van. While we are yet to try it out, it appears to be structurally very strong and and robust and well finished inside and out. It has everything we need in a caravan...especially when compared to the high end/dollar caravans offered by other customised manufacturers.
All the staff at Bayswater Jayco were a pleasure to deal with. We can’t recommend the staff highly enough, including Lisa and Ruth, the lady that guided us through the van on hand over, who was very knowledgeable and helpful.
We'll be taking the van out for test run in a couple of weeks time, so and update will be posted then.

Dealing with Jayco on charge system engineering issues
Customer relations with Jayco HQ's Service department - not satisfactory
Here is my issue in a nutshell. The charge systems of the Conquest FD19 are very high tech and there are performance issues, but Jayco HQ have been unwilling to properly discuss these issues, inspect the van or release wiring diagrams. They keep referring me back to their service agents who are out of their depth in resolving high complexity engineering issues. Today their agent has declined any further investigation of the issue.
Having said this the design feature...
Read mores of the FD19 are otherwise very pleasing and the architecture / layout is really well thought through, but it is very frustrating and potentially dangerous to run out of power prematurely when free camping.Update
Jayco HQ has meanwhile tested my FD19 van and replaced the jhub controllers. Their Service manager is friendly and supportive. Jayco engineering however is unwilling to assist in making perform...

Bought the freedom 23 ft motorhome
I can't speak high enough of the Watsons team at Coffs Harbour. their sales and after sales service, is what we all want when buying a van or motorhome, also the small gifts you receive was much appreciated. the only thing that i have to do is get a storage box on the back for hoses and my baby Q, so I'm more then happy with my purchase, and expect many many happy hours traveling.

Jayco freedom 20ft motorhome
I brought a new motorhome from page bros Melbourne on handover there was trim that had to be glued back which I pointed out weeks before. Did the Job
Bought a 2010 Jayco Pop Top Outback. Taken on many trips, encountered few issues. Battered by hail and nil dents. Pulled by Ford ranger and always performed exceptionally on road. Some fittings broke, but overall good caravan. Good resale, as recently sold for what we asked for within a few days. Would consider Jayco again.
