Incredible value
My dog Pepita was injured in a car accident and as well as nearly dying she almost lost her hind leg. Thanks to teh cover with PIA we were able to not only save her life but manage to salvage the use of her leg. If we didn't have the cover we would have not been able to give her teh second chance she has!

Great care and customer service
Excellent service and follow up for our dogs issues.

Outstanding!
I am delighted with my PIA policy! It was simple to set up. All claims lodged have been acknowledged very promptly and claims paid equally promptly. I have been with PIA for approximately six years and have made numerous claims. It has certainly removed anxiety regarding our dog's (Wilbur's) health care. I have genuinely and enthusiastically recommended PIA to friends and other dog owners Wilbur and I come across and chat to on our daily walks. Highly impressed!

Claim issue
We put a claim in which I thought would be simple process, they requested I upload the medical report which I did, then 3 weeks later I received a letter asking for our dogs complete medical history. I'm sure this is a tactic to delay paying the claim or they hope that we will forget about it and put it in the to hard basket. The medical report I submitted should have been sufficient as the pup is only 6 months old. We are now looking for another provider.

Usual Insurance Result
As with most insurance policies across the whole Insurance industry, our dog's injury was not fully covered despite the cover being called "Comprehensive". I have only ever had 2 insurance claims for anything paid out in full and they were both with the same company. Unfortunately this company does not offer Pet Insurance

Value for money and never had a problem with them
I’ve been with PIA for over 2 years and never had a problem. They reimburse you 80% and very quickly too! The price is affordable and they don’t hassle you for their business unlike RSPCA. I recommend them to every pet owner I know.

Great insurance for my fur babies!
I have been with PIA for five years since the arrival of Millie my first fur baby. Millie unfortunately had to have a major operation when she was 2 years old. Pet Insurance Australia dealt with our claim efficiency and professionally- since that time we have acquired our second fur baby Myles. Both our babies have had many claims with PIA over the years - all of which have been attended to promptly and with good communication and follow up.
I would recommend PIA to any potential pet owner for peace of mind.

Horrible horrible horrible please avoid!!!!!!
Please avoid this insurance company we have made claim for nearly $1000 for our dog and believe it or not we have received notification that only 100$ will be returned, we waited a few weeks for some money back!!!! We were paying premium cover where apparently they are returning up to 80% ...Tried to resolve the issue person that is picking the phone its somewhere in [Content Removed]
Please people avoid this .I am genuinely writing this to protect pet owners cause I know how hard things can get when it comes to our pets.

Hassle free cover
I have used PIA for five years having used them for my previous pet too The claim portal is easy, queries resolved quickly via phone and always helpful. Although this claim for my new puppy took a while to go through, it was easy to post history and medical records using the portal.

Efficiency at its best
We recently submitted a claim for each of our dogs using the online facility. Th claims were dealt with within a week and paid in full for the appropriate portions of our vet bills.

Great cover, great service
Our dog undergone a cruciate ligament operation costing a total of $3,500. The pre-approval and the process of the claim went smooth and in a timely manner. It was pre-approved in 2 days and the dog could have the operation. The claim was paid out quickly without any issues. Great service and great cover.

Less than a care for long term customers
Disappointed by the huge discount being advertised for new customers of 25% for life. We have been customers for 5 years with no claims. Rang customer service and were forced to escalate the situation. They were both less than useless. They stuck to a rigid script and only offered us to either increase our excess or reduce cover to reduce the cost of the policy . Basically to choose worse cover. Stated we would likely leave and the girl stated if that's what we had to do. Not a care. It has frightened me that if this is how they treat policy discussion with good customers there's little chance the claims process would be fair it honourable. Looking elsewhere or starting a savings account.

This organisation will send you letter after letter asking for your pets history,prior consultations, which clinics attended, pathology, radiography reports so to avoid paying out on your claims. even when I reply they send the same letter out again
Then when you call you will be on the phone for the equivalent time duration of a flight to Manila and guess what? The call centre is offshor .....probably Manila
Then you will be asked a barrage of questions (which would have been answered when signing up) pertaining to the purchase of your pet that you may be able to answer if you purchased your pet last week and not several years ago
I strongly advise anyone reading this to steer clear of PIA

Disappointing
I have had my policy for 9 years with zero claims. I made one claim after the 9 years of premiums for periodontal disease and this was not covered (as it is with many other policies). Whilst this is my responsibility to have ensured the periodontal disease was covered (it is stated in the PDS that it is not) I would advise VERY careful understanding of what is and is not covered. Again, my responsibility for not having found the exclusion when digging through the reams of paper provided - this has certainly been a learning experience resulting in a change in insurers.

Over 50% increase in insurance premium after 1 year.
When I signed up, my premium for a puppy was $41.88 per month for comprehensive cover with $100 excess and 80% claimable. After the 1st year the premium has increased to $62.62 - that's over 50% increase in just 1 year. What a joke. This whole industry needs to be reviewed.

be due to a promotional period falling off (three months free or two months free) as this is spread over each month. But I'd like to double-check your account and have someone reach out asap. Yes I was offered a good rate for the first year (to entice me to join) but now that I'm a customer, the premium has increased. Lesson not to get sucked into joining based on heavy discounts.

Easy to claim

Happy with the claims process
We have been with PIA for nearly 2 years and have been happy with our cover. The portal is really easy to use and our claims have been acknowledged and paid within 2 weeks. My only negative experience was having to speak with an overseas call which is always challenging.

Yes, as far as I know, as long as it wasn't a pre -existing condition.

Hi Felicity, we certainly do cover for these conditions in the illness section of your policy, as long as there are no prior symptoms to taking out the policy. The cover for these conditions will be subjected to caps and limits.
All of our claims are looked at on an individual basis, however, if a condition has shown signs or symptoms prior to coverage, than it may be excluded as a pre-existing condition. A pre-existing condition may be reviewed 18 months after the policy has been kept and may possibly covered, provided it has shown no signs or symptoms within this time.
After this timeframe if you wish to have the condition reviewed we do have a Pre-existing Condition review form further information can be found in our Product Disclosure Statement on page 25 under “Pre-Existing condition review”.
