Worst customer service
Most of the time they do estimated bills! you get high differences in their estimations. These guys with high negligence did an estimated bill even when I closed my account with them! Terrible service.

First bill is low, second bill never arrived and is crazily high
Signed up with Red Energy earlier in 2020. They sent a reasonable bill for the first two months, but apparently that was an 'estimate' and my next bill was 50% more expensive than any other bill from any other company for the same time period (over the two bills, totalling 5 months). My energy usage has not significantly increased from the same period last year. Read more I understand you are not happy with the estimated bills which you had received. But for me to give you an explanation of why estimated bills were issued i need to look into your account. We always try to provide an actual bill and have always been successful in doing that but there can be instances were the Meter reader is not able to get the actual reading due to multiple reasons for ex(No access to meter, COVID Restrictions, Weather Conditions etc etc ). Even if you have been issued with a estimated bill it does not mean it cant be fixed we have options through which we can fix estimated bills (customer self read or organise a special read ). Insanely High Bills
I don’t know what it is with Red Energy, but my bills have been ridiculous since I joined with them about 18 months ago. I live alone and my power bill was over $900 for the winter quarter. I just moved properties and got a final bill of $473 for 43 days. Before I switched to Red Energy, by bills with Origin were consistently $150-$180 per quarter. The reason I have stayed with them is because they have been helpful in applying discounts or offering me a plan that was ostensibly cheaper than Origin’s cheapest plan (I actually cancelled my plan ...

Falsified Meter Readings
After receiving an electricity bill at our commercial premises that was 5 times higher than the price of any previous bill, we tried contacting Red Energy for an explanation. Several times we were on hold for over an hour and emails also kept bouncing back. We also tried contacting them on Facebook and got a response 5 days later. We finally got a return phone call and were advised that the meters had been read and were accurate. Since we hold the only key to the meter room how on earth did they gain access to read said meters? Upon inspection ...
Read moreof the meters by us, the readings were not even close to the supposed readings that they say they took. They then back pedalled and then said that they were estimates only. We have been in ongoing discussions with them for 6 months to try and resolve this. The issues for us are the lying about saying that they had read the meters, the estimation that was 5 times the usual bill and then the amount of time being on hold and waiting for someone to get back to us. To their credit, they have put a hold on the bills until we get a resolution. We are hoping that we wont have to escalate this to the Ombudsman. Red Energy are Fantastic

We've been customers of red energy for 2 years however our last two bills were over charged and the latest one was charging us for electricity we haven't used. Reported to the OMBUDSMAN FOR not providing ELECTRICITY ACCOUNT EVER
This company has the worst Customer Service record. I am sick of trying to contact them and nothing done so I have contacted the OMBUDSMAN because I don't want to deal with them ever again. In the process of moving my business. Can't wait til the 1 October when they have to move customers within a short period to new provider.

Cannot get gas disconnected
As I moved in to a new place, and saw a gas meter, I contacted Red Energy for connecting it. Later I realised there was no need for gas and I want it disconnected. Now they say they must have an active account and if I want to disconnect it, I need to abolish the gas meter that has been always there!
Note every communication takes 1-2 days t have a response. I called them and they said they would come to disconnect it, to which half an hour later I received other e-mail saying that was a mistake and they could not disconnect it!
I never thought disconnecting would be such a problem. So, if I move out of the unit, I need to pay the gas bill forever? I have no longer right to have it disconnected?

Don't do it
Attempted to move to the EV plan 3 months ago. The person on the phone didn't want anything to do with it. Attempted to charge me for a tariff move which was not indicated at the beginning of the process.
Moved to Mojo Power and Red Energy called me and was blaming me for the issue and delay. Took no responsibility for the issue and made the situation worse.
Don't do it. Much better and cheaper providers out there that offer Chat Support and without the rude customer service.

Don't get red energy
If you have a problem don't ring them unless you have one hour to waste that's how long it takes to get through look after your customers and get more people answering the phone you make plenty of money...

Complete Rip off
I just asked them to install the meter and told them that the house is still under construction and it will take couple of months to get ready... But they installed the meter and activated the line without my consent and sent me the bill for supply charge... I never lived there and they did not show any interest to resolve my issue... Never sign up with them

Complete Utter Rip Off
Shocking energy costs.
$600.00 electricity bill and $250.00 gas for one quarter in a 2 bed apartment fully kitted out with LED lighting and 1 person.

We had solar installed 6 months ago thinking that we would be able to save money on our power bills. Red Energy instead significantly increased our rates without discussing this with us immediately after our solar was installed. We only found this out when our next quarter bill came in the mail and tried to back-date the expensive rates by 3 months! Red Energy keeps increasing rates.
When I finally tried to switch suppliers they rang promised me a better rate. but 3 months later I realised they just gave me my old rate. Ì rang to ask why and they said the rates they offered in writing are not available anymore. They then promised me rates almost as good but another 3 months later I realised they it was my old rates still! Rang them again and they said they promise to change the rates but could not back date the last 6 month of overcharging.

Wildly expansive with pathetic excuses.
I connected with Red energy in good faith and was met with a bill larger than I have ever received. I called customer service and it was explained to me that I was possibly using more electricity because I was at home during the covid lockdown. I work from home so my usage didn't change and explained this but was met with other excuses. I disconnected the service after another inflated bill and when connected with a rival company paid 1/3 the amount for a greater usage.

Too expensive
Too many hefty price rises during COVID times when people are struggling. And when rates go down they increase their supply charges. Do a price comparison and see for yourself - especially the daily supply charges.

In the first three months paid more than 350$ and next time paid 691$ for three and half months. Single person with no electronics goods used except laptop and mobile phone.
Tried contacting them twice, answer is always this is what is in the system. I doubt they ever do actual reading.

I have been trying to sort out my gas bill that was sent over 12months ago which still hasn’t been resolved. This has bill was over $400 for 1 quarter for a 1 bedroom unit and a single person, ridiculous. No reading has ever been taken, just an estimate. Even though this is under investigation, I keep receiving bills and overdue notices. I have called multiple times and have been hung up on at least 3 times, to which no one has ever called me back and have spent at least 10 hours of my time trying to get this resolved. I will never use your company again, absolutely disgusted with your after sales service.

Huge Ripoff with Solar
Highly recommend you do not go with this company. I had solar fitted and a smart meter. With this added you would thing I would be saving on my electricity bill. Having a smart meter installed means there is no need for them to attend to my meter this should also be a saving as is now an electronic rending. However this is not the case. What happens is that I have been advised that my fees change and they now go up. Prior to the solar I was charged 25.146 cents per kwh and now I am told that I get 11.1 cents per kwh for solar and charged 32 cents per kwh for any direct electricity use. This really means that all I get for my solar input is a lousy 4.2 cents for solar.
