Unreliable and terrible customer service!
Our rheem continuous flow was installed 18 months ago and the unit has stopped working over ten times. Every time this happens we are unable to restart it and our plumber that installed it has to come out to restart it. our plumber has recently referred the ongoing issue back to rheem to figure out the issue.
The unit stopped working recently (winter with a baby) rheem said they couldnt get a service person here for a week! So our plumber fixed it the next day. But we kept the booking with rheem to further investigate the ongoing issue.

Faulty brand new unit
We have just moved into a new place and the Rheem Metro Max minus the continuous hot water, that's right, no hot water. Ok monitor displays 11 then flashes to C2 have rung my Carrier AGL who wants $265 call out fee as an emergency then $65 ever 15 minutes. How rude. This Rheem is rubbish and will have it ripped out on Monday, and I will not be bearing the cost.

System has been good but don't use Rheem to fix
I have an integrity 24, unit has worked well until recently the hot water became tepid. I rang Rheem and they said it was most likely the temper valve. I got them to come out and was told it was a $143 service call, which included the first 1/2 hour labour. Thought that is reasonable. It was the temper valve and then said to replace it would cost $440 !! This is a part that you can buy from Bunnings for about $120. A word of warning to everyone, don't use Rheem to fix, just call a registered plumber, you could get it fixed at half the cost. Rheem are a complete rip off, and when my system finally gives up, one company I wont be using is Rheem.

ted, after about a week, they contacted me, and obviously had not read the comment as they said something irrelevant in the email they sent me. Anyway after numerous follow up emails from me trying to find out why they would charge me $440 for a temper valve, when I can buy one online for about $100, and sure Rheem are paying even less, they finally came back to me today, saying they have reviewed the charges and they are correct and the temper valve they use is not the same one I randomly found on the internet. I will now find the brand they used and see what the cost is to someone like me who wants to buy one, not 1000's like you are buying. This is a crap system
We have our system for 4 years and the fan packed up. Rheem says its out of warranty and will not do anything. New fan cost to get fitted is $700.... New system $1200. The is a small item which may costs $40 to make. Rheem has no parts in the ACt so only place to get parts is Rheem Sydney. This Rheem product is a waste of time and I will never use them again. Think twice before buying these Rheem products. You will have trouble getting parts and you will be left in cold Camberra with no hot water.

Absolutely useless!
I'd call this unit an "occasional lukewarm water system". It takes ages for water to get warm if at all! We have now resorted to boiling water on a stove for domestic uses. Back to Middle Ages! We have then to haul the hot water upstairs in buckets for kids bath! We brought a Rheem technician in who only blamed gas pressure without explaining what that pressure should be! Brought a qualified gas fitter in who clearly said that the unit is faulty. The unit is still under warranty but we have to make do without hot water. Wonder what it would be after the warranty period. With the number of complaints on this site, Fair Trading should have a look at this and reassure us!

Warm water only
We had a rheem 24 installed in a new house several years ago. We have never had really hot water in the kitchen. I have never needed to use the cold tap at all. There are no temp switches on this model to try and get the temperature up. I complained to Rheem by email, who told me that I had a large house and so the water had too far to travel to my kitchen. I was told when I built the house that this model would be more than enough for my needs. dishwasher is full. I am of the opinion that these temperatures are not consistent with hygiene but Rheem wasn't interested other than to tell me to install a booster under the kitchen sink. I will be installing a new hot water system but it will not be a Rheem.1 comment

Lucky if we get any hot water at all
We are now at the stage where we are lucky to have any hot water at all. I can run a whole tub of water and it is cold. Then after having to boil water to wash, I may strike it lucky and turn the tap on and it occasionally is hot. Although we have contacted Rheem they have not rectified our problem. Error code 11 then C2 appears on the system.

Rheem have followed up the problem with our hot water system and finally we have hot water every time we turn the tap on. There clearly was a fault with either the igniter or the control panel. Thank you Rheem, this has made a huge difference.

Absolutely crap want my old Bosch back
Waste so much water waiting for it to warm up, was an expensive unit requiring installation of elec unit to start up, therefore if elec goes off cannot use. Will not be recommending this to anyone. Feel I was sold a poor replacement for Bosch. Maybe should have chosen to go 100 percent elec with discounts and solar.

Worked fine once the water saving valve was removed from the taps and shower head.
This was installed by my plumber Sept/ Oct 2014 and we had problems from the start. Took a while to become hot and when it did I couldn't regulate the temperature at all. The plumber came it again and put a bigger gas pipe in to the nit but if anything the issue got worse. Showers were frantic, fiddling with the hot and cold taps throughout the super fast shower, it would get searingly hot then completely cold... Nightmare. hat was fine. I had a new bathroom and he removed the water flow restricor in the shower head and bingo! Lots more water, continuous temperature, works a charm. Very happy. Seems the unit needed more of a work out than the water restictors were allowing it. It does still take a while to get hot, but otherwise I'm (now) happy with it overall.1 comment

Hot water takes ages to come through taps
This is a terrible unit for 'instant' hot water. It takes at least 2-3 buckets of cold water before the hot water actually comes through. We bought a brand new apartment with this model (875E24nf) gas water heater installed and are completely unhappy with it. We would never recommend it to anyone.

Buyer beware of the trade off for 6 stars
2 Weeks ago we had a plumber replace our old storage HW unit with new Metro Plus Rheem - 871024.
He also upgraded the gas main and the distributer came and upgraded the gas meter to a higher pressure.
The problem is that there is a huge delay before get hot water out of the tap - even though there is only about 3 metres of piping between the HW unit and the tap! - I enquired about the delay with my plumber and he advised that it was a energy saving feature of these new 6 star units - they restrict the flow until the unit has heated the wat...Read more

Unfortunately this so called feature means that if the hot water hasn't been used in over 30 minutes - it can take up to 30 seconds before any hot water is felt at the tap and the flow of water for this period is very restricted - which slows down the process of the water actually getting to your tap further. I am very disappointed in this unit and I feel like I have been ripped off or scammed - just because I chose to get a 6 star unit over a 5 star, because I thought it would actually be better. I hope others don't fall for the same scam as me and that Rheem looks into the issue and makes a more efficient unit instead of adding impractical annoying features to get better marketing.1 comment

Died after warranty expired
We had the Rheem 27 for 3 and a half years and it worked flawlessly, until it threw in the towel 6 months after the warranty was up. Rheem service guy said the circuit board had gone and it would cost us $700 for a new one. $700! Ridiculous. Advised to spend a bit more and put in a whole new unit with a new warranty. This replaced a 13 year old gas storage unit that had never given us an ounce of trouble. Avoid if you can. Service guy was excellent though, replacing the unit same day, $1250 later.

Hot water cutting in and out dangerously hot
my plumber installed the rheem 24 approx. 12 months ago and we had issues with the hot water cutting in and out so I got my plumber/gas fitter back a number of times to fix it but after checking the gas flow, pipes, tapes etc we still haven't solved the problem I need this fixed as it is becoming dangerous for my kids.

Cant get hws fixed and still under warranty
Bought 2 years ago now keeps saying error 11 on and off and then no hot water. Rheem out 14/7/14 said gas pressure too low ring ATCO. ATCO out changed regulator checked pressure all good. Still said error 11. ATCO out again upped pressure to 1.6. Still error 11 on and off. I paid for independent gas fitter to check system gas good electric good and error 11 means failure to ignite. Still error 11 so rang kleenheat who installed system. They sent out rheem again and they then said needs wider piping. So rang kleenheat they say nothing wrong with piping. Still says error 11 can anyone please help I'm not paying any more money as system is still under warranty its driving us mad.

Water not hot enough
Last year our landlord upgraded from an electric to an everflow 20 continuous gas hot water heater.....since then......we have to turn the hot water tap full on, and add no cold water...it sucks...i can put my hands in a full sink of hot water without cold being added.....in winter we have slow pressure showers because we can't add cold......Im so sick of it....going from a very hot electric hot water service with high pressure to a slow not hot enough system.......if i had my way i'd dump it for a tank system.....maybe not hot water instantly ...Read more
(not so instant though, have to let the water run for a minute or more before the hot arrives, higher water bills now)........but at least it was hot enough to add lots of cold for good pressure.......is there any possible way of making the water hotter in this system......we only have gas hot water no other gas appliances and our gas bills have doubled since from the time it was installed until now........so its not cheap to run.......the plumber didn't leave the manual behind.....so can't even look it up......I realise i should take it up with the landlord, but he's already out of pocket for having to put gas onto the property and buy a unit........ takes too long for the hot water to come through (rising water bills now), the water isn't hot enough, and lost water pressure...the gas bill keeps going up..1 comment

Abysmal customer service
I am experiencing the worst customer service ever in trying to have my rheem continuous hot water system repaired under warranty. For 2 days now I have waited at home for a technician, only for them not to turn up and not even call to advise they won't be coming.
I can't believe that on the first day a technician is a no show that customer isn't prioritized the next day! Do they think people can just take as much time off work as they like to wait for someone to not show up?

Rheem 27 continuous Awful Noise When Cold
I have had a rheem 27 model 876627 installed since October 2013. The unit is pretty good and seems to supply the house with sufficient hot water. However when the outside temp is low and the unit hasn't been used for a few hours I receive this awful noise from the unit when it slows the flow down.

Installation faults
As a licenced gas fitter I can tell you that 90% of the problems with continuous flow awater heaters are caused by installation problems. In a retro fit situation the installing plumber must upgrade the gas pipe as these types of units use large volumes of gas over a short period of time. In some cases the cold water inlet and hot water pipes should also be upgraded. These alterations are not always carried out during the installation and this causes the units to fail or not perform as designed. Remember these type of systems are not mains pres...Read more
sure water heaters and do not perform well with restricted/water saving tap outlets nor do they provide the same volume of water as mains pressure systems. Child Friendly
I would call this model a warm water system, it definitely does not deliver hot water. What's annoying is that I rang Rheem to find out how to adjust the temperature level to be told that this model is not changeable. The positive is that your young children will never get scalded from this model.

Rheem27,874,876 seris,627 models. we bought and was fitted on 30/aug./2013,just use 6 weeks,get problem,the water come hot,after 5 second back to cold water, the model display "11", can't shower,my familly just 2 adult and one baby.
I called Rheem,they ask me to check the water and gas,water no problem and gas meter pressure is 1.38kpa,the model need 0.91 gas meter pressure,so my house gas is size up,but they still ask me to upgrade the gas meter first,if not maybe I need to pay $150.......

dedicated line (untempered) to the kitchen, ensured the flow-rates of our taps/showerheads would not be too low such as to prevent the system kicking in, and ensured we had higher quality insulation (Armaflex) to the ensuite which is a longer distance away from the unit, etc. Then, hey presto, it's hot hot hot! Very energy efficient method of hot water for your house - but I would recommend Rheem communicate the best practice installation requirements better to consumers who can in turn insist on these provisions to be made by their builders.Similar opinion?
