HSNRQ70B (7.0kW)

Hello, we are thinking about buying two HSNRQ70B from Harvey Norman, just reading the reviews there are some horrid reviews. Is it correct if there is a warranty issue the purchaser is charged a call out fee by a technician and might be waiting months for the unit to be fixed.

I have no idea. But the company who sold you the unit usually is responsible for working with their supplier on warranty issues. Why not direct your question to the department of fair trade. I have the same issue with my solar panels. I have to pay travel $300 to get their technician out to replace a panel. I paid $66 in power this term....and my aircon goes all day and is usually turned off at 6pm.

My 6mth old unit is suddenly not heating well. Air coming out is now only mildly warm but barely making a difference to house temperature . Previously warmed house well. Setting higher temp doesn’t make any difference. Fan is blowing but like a mild cool breeze. Set heating temp at 26 Room ran all night room temp only at 15 is only about 20sqm space.

Q Series

I recently had a 3.5kw q series installed. Functions awesomely so far considering i was so sceptical of buying this brand. If all goes well i will be replacing 4 more box aircons with splits this year in my home. I only have one problem and its really doing my head in, and from research its doing the same to many others. Wifi worked great u til my modem failed. Upon replacement, its impossible to reconnect. I go through all the procedures only to get configuration failed message. I did read somewhere that there should be a wifi signal illuminated indicator on the wall unit, but i dont see anything. Could it be, rinnais server still has my old modem details in its system and cant override with a new one? I wont be holding my breath getting any kind of prompt reply or call back from them as i read everywhere, their after sales service is poor.

Hi Craig, Thank you for your question. Generally with Wifi connected products there can be a range of considerations outside of the product (internet provider, router settings,, amount of devices connected) which can cause connectivity issues. In the first instance, we would suggest that you try deleting the app from your mobile completely, resinstall, then reconnect to your unit.

Thank you

That was the first thing i did. I deleted the app, rebooted the phone and even switched the unit off at the main switch. One thing i cant be definitive of, is whether the inside unit should be showing an illuminated wifi signal indicator. That may help me with my troubleshooting. I have not opened the unit. Does it have a separate wifi dongle that maybe i could unplug and reconnect? Or it it integral with the units circuitboard.

AC Freedom is garbage why doesn't Rinnai use WPS? WPS has been around for over a decade, I can buy an ESP8266 chip for around four bucks online, where code snippets are available online for http, mqtt and WPS! Why does AC Freedom need access to storage and telephone?
The app wants to scan an activation QR code, but there is no information available of where to get one of these codes.
If you could provide the technical details I'll write an alternative app that's orders of magnitude better.

I found the QR code in the online PDF manual. But you can also type in 'RINNAI' (or was it lowercase 'rinnai'). Eitherway, I think all the QR code does is gets the Rinnai specific graphic and help file. Nothing special.

The app needs to provision the Broadlink smart wifi device that is in the aircon. I think the Android version of the app just doesn't complete that provisioning properly. An iPhone will, and once provisioned any android can talk to the aircon.
From what research I've already done, the Broadlink wifi smart device uses QUIC UDP protocol. There are resources online where it explains how to create messages to communicate with it across the network. There are python scripts, too. I haven't tried any of them to confirm their accuracy.

Hi Rinnai,

A bit of an electrical question regarding this unit. Just curious if your 7kw Q series air con unit would require 15 amp wiring? Or can it be done with the standard 10amp wiring?

Thanks,
Dave

You need a friend or family member with an iPhone. They'll need to use the app on their phone to set it up. Once they've done that for your aircon it should immediately appear on all your Android devices.

Hi Steven
Once I downloaded the app put the air con on my WiFi pretty much found the air con straight away. I do have an iPhone but the app did it well. I also printed the info about how to do this and scanning the info code did it all for me. Hope this helps.
I love it. The air con is so quiet now that we have it going.
Cheers
