Can't recommend more highly
We have had RSPCA pet insurance for our Golden Retriever 'Shayla' pretty much since we first got her. She was generally in good health in the early years but we did have the odd health incident that we needed to claim and there was never an issue. She is now 13 years and over the past 18 months had various health issues including needing a knee replacement early last year. Everything was generally fine until out of the blue before Christmas she had unexplained seizures. We were in and out of the vet hospital for the past month with tests an...Read more
d emergencies as along the way she ended up with diabetes which we are now managing. The bills were piling up but there was never a question with the claims which were easily managed with direct submissions by the vets. We reached our cap of $11,000 for this term and have spent considerably more but the process with RSPCA was easy, enormously helpful in a time of unexpected expense, and very fair. Shayla is stable now and we take it week to week as she's an old girl but we're very thankful for the service we've had from RSPCA recently and over the years.

Seems to be a great thing for peace of mind through my cats life.
Good value. Easy to set up. Great customer service and very helpful. Everything explained carefully and patiently. Not pushy to pay for the more expensive ones. Made me feel confident in choosing RSPCA

True to their word
My boxer dog was run over by a car, and severely broke the two bones in his front left leg, and punctured his lungs. (He went under the front portion of the car, and crawled out from beneath it).
The vet bill was almost $4100 ($4098.14) and RSPCA paid out exactly 80% ($3278.50) in less than 4 business days after the claim was lodged. The claim was lodged Thursday night, and the money was in my account Tuesday night
I only had the policy for about 6 months, and I wasn't expecting an 80% pay out, I thought they would pay out less than that, bu...Read more
t they were true to their word. They didn't give me the third degree, the whole process was done online through their portal, and was completely hassle free, without talking to a single soul. The one thing people should be aware of, is that you do need to completely pay the vet bill, then you make your claim. I thought it was like human health insurance, you pay the 20% and they paid the 80%. Luckily my sister was able to help me raise the funds, otherwise it could have been an issue for me. Anyway, the bottom line is that they did everything they claim they would do, and I would have been up Ships Creek without them, there's no way I could have afforded it on my own. I would have had to have my dog put down. I totally recommend this product to every dog owner,2 comments

Very little return for my money
Not good value, as only eligible to make claim under routine care resulting in a return of only $50 essentially for main costs. Increased premium costs for little return may result in cancelling cover.

What a horrible experience this was
I would rate this one star if I could. Nothing but hassle all the way. Couldn't even be bother to ask how I wanted the pittance they paid back sent to me. Instead sent a cheque which didn't arrive for 11 days. When I told them that they cancelled it straight away, the only thing they actually did straight away. Of course it arrived the next day and I couldn't bank it.

Very disappointing service.
Although happy to take my money RSPCA was very slow when I made a claim. The service was extremely disappointing and very difficult to organise all the documentation. I'm reassessing whether I'll continue with their pet insurance.

Low rebate
I am ver disappointed at the very low amount I get back, $50 rebate for a vet visit that was over $450, I would have thought the rebate would be much more. I may compare with other companies and change to another insurance company

Ive only just purchased so not quite sure yet
Roughly the same premium as other insurers when you factor in the month free - next year it will climb and I may go elsewhere. I added the optional cover - $80 - immunisation rebate. It is unlikely at the moment that I will use any of the $1000 per year that I pay so this is 1 tiny amount I will get back. I support RSPCA weekly with donations and I am hoping when the time comes they will do the right thing and pay the claim without. I have gone with RSPCA as it is a name I trust. Fingers X on that!

Our dog has been insured with RSPCA for 5years now. Had a number of claims, and all have been paid in a very timely manner, most within a week. I love the fact that our vet can lodge the claim directly with RSPCA. Would recommend to those looking at Pet Insurance.

Poor communication
I didn't know that my claim was approved until I received the request to review RSPCA Pet Insurance's performance.
While the claim has been approved, they just didn't bother to notify me except on their webportal. Sorry but you have my email (or I wouldn't have received the request to review the product) or my mobile phone number!
Also as this is for an ongoing condition, there was no information as to how this will be handled. Will I need to make a new claim each time I go to the vet, even just for medication?

So reassuring we had RSPCA Pet Insurance!
I certainly felt reassured having RSPCA Pet Insurance when our cat deteriorated after we found a paralysis tick on him on CHRISTMAS DAY! He spent 3 nights in hospital - Christmas Day, Boxing Day & the day after that! I submitted my claim online soon after & was very happy to receive the remittance only 4 days after submitting!! I’m happy to say our furry friend has made a complete recovery. Thanks so very much to RSPCA Pet Insurance, we had peace of mind & confidence that we could give our smallest family member the best care possible.

Reimbursement amount good, claims process poor
We had a poor claims experience with PetSure / RSPCA. While we eventually received the expected refund, it took multiple calls over months to follow up on actions that the customer service call centre undertook to take, and then didn't do. Our documentation was lost, reinstated and lost again. The call staff didn't understand basic terminology such as the difference between payment for a claim verses refund on overpayment of insurance (our pet had died 5 months into a 12 month insurance period). Our pet died in May, our claim was paid out in December.
