Terrible service, my parents plugged in the NBN modern and lost home phone and internet
Bad customer service my parents have made numerous calls to southern phone and have had no technical help, said they would send a new modem, but with no phone line into the house a new modem wont work, plus the customer service person said it must be because they haven't payed there Bill is why they can't connect, when given receipt number they couldn't match it to existing number, going to another provider

Customer service - no company protection.
As a result of moving house i rang to cancel the phone and landline service. Due to lack of information forthcoming i cancelled as of the 20th of April, when my account was due on the 27th. Logically thinking that would the start of new billing period. But no, billing period was from 13 th. So that lack of information cost another months fees. Despite 4 emails, all i got was an apology that the operator had not looked at the emails for a fortnight. I have requested a refund of fess several times, but no result. DO NOT rely on customer service at the company.

Very slow and difficult to deal with
Connection started off being acceptable. Over the last few months Ive had 4-7 drop out a day and was told that NBN Co won’t fix the issue until I have 5 drop outs over 24hrs recorded, which didn’t take long. NBN Co fixed the issue but the tech guy didn’t care that he dropped my speed and sync down. The speed is now under 10Mbps on a 50/20 plan and again they are delaying fixing the issue with a average ping rate of 98ms and 6ms jitter which makes loading pages unbearable.

Dont ever use Southern Phone they are the worst Company to deal with with everything going on with Covid 19 all they care about is getting their money paid not about what the individual is going through there are other Service Providers out there that are probably a lot better to deal with than these people Avoid this Company at all costs

Rubbish. Avoid this company.
The connection is hopeless. Fibre to the node and a 50/20 plan lucky to ever get 11 mbps. Switched companies same plan NO Problems. Now 40 mbps. SPhone is useless. AVOID them. I live on the north coast of NSW in a new estate so expect the hardware is ok. Should have changed a year ago. Try calling these jokers. Better be prepared to be on the phone for at least 40 min before an answer. I swapped to an Aussie Broadband company if you get my drift. Awesome. Read the reviews on both these companies. Speaks volumes. SPhone should be negative 5.

The worst customer service and technical support ever
I was Amaysim's customer before and Southern Phone bought Amaysim, so I automatically became their customer. 3 weeks before I moved into my new house I rang them to relocate my internet, they said it should not be a problem. But my modem didn't work. Then they sent me a box called nbn box which I installed also didn't work. Then I rang them to get some technical support. ring me back with a solution but never did. What is more that they had already withdrew the last period's bill from my bank account before even they tried to do anything with relocation. On the last phone call which I had to wait for ages to speak with a real person, I asked some refund as I didn't use the service, but I am still waiting for it. Then I got very annoyed and decided to cancel my membership with Southernphone and signed up with Optus.1 comment

Southern phone is GREAT!!!!!!!! i had no internet problems until the NBN arrived Since then i have had LOTS of problems and they have ALL been caused by the NBN. And they all been fixed by Southern Phone I have SPC accounts at two premises and at the first one to get the NBN I lost my home phone number for several months. It turned out that the NBN box I received was meant for someone else, SPC determined this on my first call to them but it was months before the NBN fixed thd problem. as for nbn12 nbn50 or nbn100 i have no idea i don't know which i have

Southern transferred my services without my permission
How reliable is my connection.... Umm I don't have one, I had a connection with Telstra that I was more than happy with and then someone from Southern decided it was a good idea to transfer my services to my ex... he wanted the phone number, which just needed a change of ownership filled out - instead Southerm transferred my entire service to him.... and now they are not being helpful whatsoever... and why I am writing this - Good luck with them don't contact them if you need anything done, as their staff are completely incompetent

As stated above, never had a problem. The switch to NBN a while ago was seamless.
No dropouts, no issues. We are very happy with Southernphone. Our NBN connection was easy and seamless. As a pensioner, price is important to me, I have the service I want at a reasonable price

Incompetent - not to be used
Contacted them to connect to new residence with nbn, gave them 2 weeks notice, then told another 21 days to have phone connected - never happened. They finally connected phone but if not answered was transferred to another person in another state - why??? Internet never what they promised. As nbn box in garage they said modem and house phone had to be connected there, or run ethernet from garage across yard through window to have it in the house. I would tell them to forget not serving me and go with someone else who was competent if not for a 24mth contract which they told me I have no way of cancelling without paying it out, and why would I pay for something I am not getting?????1 comment

Won’t compensate for their errors on the service that caused us not to be able to use internet effectively!
Constant issues with streaming, Xbox and general usage with internet freezing and not allowing Xbox to authenticate and sync etc. Speedtests were fine and frustrating that this is what they look at and not that there are other issues. I found issue was a double NAT that Xbox network settings advised is an issue. Spoke to SP support and IT support knew straight away what the issue was changed something on there end and told me to restart router. Services started working great there onwards. d be very hard to identify and wonder how many other customers having issues but can’t explain with just Speedtests. Thing is we got $80 excess data usage changes from Telstra because we had to use 4G services during this time. I asked for compensation and was told that because there was data usage during the period that they can’t compensate. I explained that there may have been data usage but that does not mean the service was working correctly and hence why we had to use 4G. They just don’t get how frustrating this issue has been. Anyway they won’t compensate and I just said I will cancel service as soon as contract is finished. Pity I have to wait till November. May also lodge complaint with Ombudsman and seek other channel’s for complaints.2 comments

t issue was we have not been able to use entire service effectively and got excess charges from separate 4G provider because could not use SP service properly. Southern Phone has been the worst experience I have ever had with an internet company. I was transferred to them from Amaysim, so I never even asked for this! They were good for a little while, but then the internet got slower and slower until it wouldn't work at all. I can't even do my job from home, I have to switch to my mobile hot-spot to actually get things done.

Poor service

Terrible NBN service
I paid for 50mb and most days I was lucky to get 10-15 MB download speed. About twice a week at peak times for 15-30 minutes I would get zero. Despite numerous emails to SP over 18 months nothing was ever resolved. I would not recommend this service.

Bad customer service and network
I was referred by my brother to this network and get signed in for $60 plan where I got 30 Mbps speed and later I got sick of it because it was really slow and I call them, after waiting about 30 min they took my call, and finally I asked them what can I do to increase my internet speed, and they recommended to upgrade my plan, and I Did it, they said to upgrade to $70 plan for 45 Mbps speed. I recently checked my internet speed it was just 26 Mbps speed.
Still, the speed is slow and still not satisfied I called them waiting for about 45 min but no answer.
I personally believe that I was basically ripped off.

Terrible landline connection last 2 months....
Terrible landline connection last 2 months.....Southern Phone call centre waiting time is ridiculous.
I have emailed and spoken with customer service after a 1 hr wait, then another 35 mins for a tech.
I was told that SP had an issue with VOIP services on NBN and they have employed extra staff to solve....thats fine but how about letting customers know......when contract is finished I am leaving.

The WORST. Off and on connection for months. I’ll be lucky if it works for a whole 10 mins at a time
My internet connection and satisfaction of it had went downhill ever since MyNetfone was bought over by Southern Phone. I’ve been having on and off connections for months. Not one time I’ve ever gotten the fastest and smoothest connection. It’s frustrating even more so as we have to be at home at all times because of the pandemic. A house with 4 people living in it fighting for a decent internet connection. After this month, I’m out! Customer service was so far average, but doesn’t change the connection rate. Honestly, I’m missing the service of the previous company (also not the best but better) before unwillingly pushed into this company.

Save yourself the frustration
I was forced to migrate to this company and whilst the people answering the calls are pleasant, It takes me on average an hour to speak to anyone. The actual internet data is sooooo sloooooww. i have been sent 2 different modems and "had the firmware updated" over the phone only to then lose all connection and have to call back and be out on hold for another hour. Have wasted so much time and become so frustrated and now totally over this incompetent service currently waiting to switch companies

Worst service ever
Worst service error hung up on me twice and no call backs
Worst customer experience
Tried porting a number to them disconnected my current service week before sending the sim and said it takes 24 - 48 hours, 3 days later still saying we made a small error we have asked them again to transfer it will take another 24 -48 hours
Save your time and energy and choose some other service provider.

When can I expect a reply to my letter to David Joss which I sent a few months ago. I rang to check if perhaps he had died or left the organisation but the lady said no, he is still there. She said she would remind him but of course nothing has happened. I seem to recall there were around 17 issues I raised in my email to David. Just not good enough, and when the word gets around (which I am doing my best to spread) then customers will leave in droves and Southernphone will be a thing of the past. I have never heard of a company that relies totally on customers but which has a philosophy of treating customers like objects floating around a sewer. Andrew Frellek, Trevallyn, Launceston.
