Impossible to claim
I took out insurance on Feb 25 to cover an April Sydney-Cairns return trip; it was on Feb 27 that the PM announced that Australia was activating the Health Sector Emergency Response Plan. The exclusions listed in the policy include "Any claim relating to an incident which you were aware of at the time you took out this insurance and which could reasonably be expected to lead to a claim" and "Any claim arising from ... any prohibition ... regulation or intervention (including but not limited to interference with your travel plans) of any governm...Read more
ent", no other exclusions relate to a pandemic, and the "What you are covered for" section includes "you cannot travel because of government restrictions after an epidemic". Yet Tick have advised me that their website already stated on Feb 25 "you will not be covered for claims related to the Coronavirus". While this may be true there was no advice to that effect provided when I applied for the insurance online. My advice is If its easy to buy insurance online, stop and check the small print.

I liked the way previous medical condition was dealt with. Excellent value, what I wanted in coverage. Don't know how good they are if you make a claim. Excellent web site.

Quick, easy and a good price
Have purchased travel insurance for an upcoming cruise. So far the process has been quick and easy. We will see how it goes when we travel and will see if we will use them again.

Dodgy travel insurance, stay away.
Stolen phone overseas, left country next day, rejected as no police report even though we supplied documents from hotel and telstra confirming stolen phone. Took seven weeks and worse travel insurance to deal with.

misleading and unreal customer service
Had bought the travel insurance from domestic travel insurance, and personal items were missing from my bag, the airline sent emails stating nothing was handed to lost & found. so I filed a claim (the website came up with error all the time) finally they asked me send via email, which I did and I was asked to send all the documents which i did. now tick insurance claims the lost phone was mean to for work purposes and I should have taken business travel insurance!!! and they will not cover, you can see from their website, as travel insurance no...Read more
thing comes up as business travel insurance at any stage anyway. furthermore my phone was bought with my personal money for my use, so is all my clothing as well its all my personal items and not company paid by any means. It's number used in the phone is my personal number as well, I just don't understand how it has become a business item? The customer service is appalling not even understanding the concept of personal items. I had asked for the manager to speak to and no response!!! This is appearing to be very unreal. Beware of everyone, I will have to file a formal complaint with financial ombudsman to straighten this company's activities. Be very very careful of this companies like this who are unreal and try to get away with anything and everything from hard working people. Such a shame.1 comment

Re: Policy Number MS/TK/305143/24935700
Paid for this policy on 4 March 2021: am I ever going to get a refund on this cancelled policy?
6 answers
Anna J.Tick Travel Insurance
Hi Philip, I'm afraid that we are not offering refunds on policies outside of the 14 day cooling off period. In terms of next steps, I would advise you to send your policy number to [email protected]. This is our official channel for complaints, and your complaint will be formally lodged, and your refund request will be investigated. I'm genuinely very sorry about the inconvenience and frustration this must be causing. Thanks, Anna
Thank you Anna J for your three nonsensical replies. Not only was my cancellation within the prescribed period I was referring to the reply from [Name Removed] of Tick on 27 March 2020 that stated that my 'request # 327938 has been solved' and that my refund would be deposited into the account from which I had paid Tick.
Is Tick going to rip-off two aged pensioners forced to cancel their proposed trip because of the Government's clamp-down on aged people's travel as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic?
Anna J.Tick Travel Insurance
Hi Philip, I can only see messages you post here on Product Review, and I don't have access to any information you have provided to anyone else through other channels. Now you have given me context on your case, I can follow up for you. Thanks, Anna

If you go on a cruise and need to see the onboard doctor... are you covered?
2 answers
Yes. My Tick Insurance Standard policy provides Unlimited Medical expenses cover in addition to Emergency expenses cover of $10,000.
Anna J.Tick Travel Insurance
Hi Bronz, thanks for reaching out, and thanks for the response Arthur.
If you need to see the doctor due to injury or illness, yes you will be covered, as long as you have declared your pre-existing conditions. Declaring your medical conditions is easy and fast, and can be done when your purchase your policy online, during the stage before paying for your policy.
If you don't declare your pre-existing medical conditions, you will still be covered for medical claims, but not if they are related to a pre-existing condition that you didn't declare.
Thanks, Anna
