I have car alarm issues with my 2015 RAV4. Twice today in my driveway & once 3 weeks ago its gone off for no apparent reason. Any suggestions please?

1 answer
Ben Ash
Ben Ash

The only times my alarm has gone off is when the I had the door locked and then put an item through the part open window; and another occasion when the sun shield fell off the windscreen. High wind gusts or a passer-by bumping the car triggers some car alarms. If this is an ongoing problem I suggest you contact your local Toyota dealer - they will likely provide free advice. [In NSW (Australia) Fair Trading legislation probably means you can reasonably request free support.]

We are locking at purchasing a 2010 RAV4. The salesman said there is isofix but we couldn't find anchor points at the back as an extra. Is that right?

1 answer
Ben Ash
Ben Ash

Hmm, good question. I've looked and in my 2015 model the Isofix anchor points are incorporated in the back to the rear seats - each of the 3 with a plastic cover high in the back of the seat. Maybe that's where they're 'hiding' in the 2010 model - I know they've been compulsory in Aust for years.

Possibly something is loose in the engin bay. Call a mechanic could be a simple fix hopefully

I recommend you get professional help from a qualified mechanic - it may well be a major safety issue and regardless vibration is likely to cause further damage...

We have a 2015 gxl my question has anyone else had issues with high oil consumption? Being a brand new vehicle you wouldn't expect it to be using so much oil.

Hello Themillers

The Rav4 is a amazing car and yes i have none them all to be greedy on oil.
this being the only downfall i would say you still have a brilliant car.

If it's the diesel, it's a boat anchor, they've been rebuilding them in the UK since 2007, it's Toyota's worst diesel engine, unload it before it seizes.

How many ks can the 2004 toyota rav4 cv do before it stops running or things need replacing.i do mainly highway driving. Does it have Bluetooth for hands free phone . Is 340000 ks to much

1 answer

Tamika

Hello Cookie

From memory there was no bluetooth but i am sure you can install one with minimum issue or some might have them as extras.
340000 KS is not high considering its a 2004 model so that's good for a 12 year old car.
The Rav4 is fantastic and reliable however both of mine were brought brand new so i new how they were treated.
I am bad and i normally serviced them once a year or 2 years and they were perfect even then all i had to watch was oil. i always new once that oil light came up i had to top it up.
I would say its a good car, Brilliant even, However if you are looking at buying a second hand car there will always be a risk of things breaking, the car is 12 years old and its been treated goodness knows.
i would say if it kicks over with no funny noise or struggle
changes gears without odd noises
and drives silently then it should be a good buy.
Just be sure to check under the vehicle and the exhaust for holes / rust. lets face it they were fun to take on the beach.
good luck.

Has anyone driven the RAV4 CV AWD on a dirt road? If so how does it handle dirt roads/ 4WD tracks?

Thank you

1 answer
Hilldene
Hilldene

We have driven on the dirt road that passes Bald Rock near Stanthorpe. This road was flat and wide and well maintained and has several sweeping corners.. The driver was doing 100 km/h and we had very light rain for a while.
The only issue was suspension noise when we hit a brief rough patch. The car easily dealt with the corners and the ride was smooth, but so was the road, it was not a potholed track. We covered a few kms of dirt road in safety. The next day we had dirt on the back of the car but you have the rear window wiper.

Hi Guys, is it possible to install a front facing car seat in the middle of a RAV 4 from 2012? I found an anchor point in the middle near the back door but can only find 1 buckle for the middle. Is there a special adapter I need to buy?
Look forward to hear as our 13 and 15 year old really need the space on the sides. Thanks!

Folks, To win a case in court, you need evidence not opinion, so if the car has gone, the only evidence you can provide is written, if you still have it and it's from an "expert" who can be examined in court. I am not a legal expert, I watch a lot of TV.

Where is four wheel gear?

2 answers
Kent Bradley
Kent Bradley

I'm not sure what you are referring too. the Rv 4 is two wheel drive until the all wheel drive button is activated to engage the all wheel drive, please note the Rav 4 is not a four wheel drive SUV. i hope this is what you are asking, if not just rephrase your question. :)

Decca
Decca

The Rav4 AWD versions will generally run as a front wheel drive. I believe it will run AWD when moving off but cuts back to FWD when going, and, there is no slippage detected by Traction control. The rear wheel drive is controlled by a 'clutch' mounted just in front of the rear differential that brings in the rear wheels when needed.
You can lock the rear wheels in by a switch on the dash but it will cut out at 50?kph

Hey im looking at a 2007 Toyota Rav 4, it has 185,000 km's on it and it's an automatic. I was wondering if this Rav 4 has to many Km's on it or not?

2 answers
Vaughan
Vaughan

It's over the odds, but not by a lot. Have a look at the service log book; has it been serviced at country garages? If so, chances are most of those kilometres are highway kays, which is fine. If it's mostly city driving, that's not so good. All that stopping and starting puts a lot of strain on the drivetrain. Having said that, I bought a 7 year old Camry with 175,000 km and got rid of it recently at 16 years / 460,000 km and nothing much had ever gone wrong with it. It's still going (I passed it on to a friend). That's a common story with Toyotas.

Keith2
Keith2

I know I'm 4 years late, but anyone relying on log books is asking for trouble, as they are easily tampered with and falsified. For $10 I can get a stamp made, that looks genuine and use it to stamp the missed service dates.
Judge Judy and Meriam (Peoples Court) always give the best advice: "BEFORE buying have a qualified mechanic inspect it and give you a written report".

How can I tell if my 2001 rav 4 is capable of 7 seats?

2 answers
Peter
Peter

I am sorry but it is highly unlikely that you could get seven seats in a RAV4 because it was never designed for that. On top of a space issue is weight distribution. Look in the back, there are no anchor points and no seat belts either. You may have to up size to a Prado.

Keith2
Keith2

Cops may have issues when you ride out first time with a full load. Talk to the Toyota dealer and after he stops laughing, take his advice.

Please what could cause vibration during driving also can stirring wheel of 2003 model match 2005 model?

1 answer
Peter
Peter

Several things could cause vibration while driving, unbalanced wheels, faulty tires, bent clutch plate, loose universal joint, cheap tires, it's just a process of elimination. As far as the steering wheel goes, it all depends on the electronics and whether they are transferable from one to the other.
