I'm planning to rent an 8-seater from Thrfty.com.au. Is tripcover compatible with Thrifty's included standard protection?

Specifically, are you going to cover the following?
1. "Your liability in the event of the accident (DRF)" = 4000 AUD
2. "Tyre/windscreen damage fees" = Additional
3. "Single vehicle accident fee" = 2200 AUD

Tripcover states "excess" will be covered. But Thrifty worded their protection using "fees" and "liability". Not sure if they are one and the same. And more importantly, I want to know if I don't have to pay any of the items 1-3 above in case I run to any of those untoward incidents during my rental period.

Thanks
John

Reading all the reviews here, there seems to be a admin portion of excess that is not covered to the tune of $300 - so, any savings made by taking this insurance seems void and it's better to go with the more expensive hire car insurance bringing excess to 0. Care to address this Tripcover?

Zooter if you could show me where you got this figure from that would be great.
The admin fee is applied by the rental company and I guess would be dependent on the value of the claim.
The choice is yours to make, obviously but the stated admin fee, I believe is at the higher end. I would love to know the references where you pulled this information from. I think this is a sham question and I have reported you.

Just received a duplicate of your complaint on Facebook. Not sure where you are getting this information from but are you some sort of bot out to do negative reviews for money. any answer would be appreciated.
BTW I have reported you to ieatwords.

Hi Desmond - I'm not a bot and this was based on another review which claimed Tripcover didn't cover $300 admin fee and it would have been cheaper to go via car hire rental excess reduction

unfortunately I don't get an email response back when there is a reply, but I'll keep an eye out on this one. I'm not sure where you saw this in FB, but obviously you could have IMd me there I suppose if you wanted to get to the bottom of this

Hi there, we are hiring a motorhome for 2 weeks in February from Sydney. The hire company quoted $55 per day full excess liability cover reduce the bond from $5000 to $0. Will your cover be adequate to cover this?

And we are resident in the UK – again, will your cover apply to us and are there any extra costs?

Thanks

Hi Allison, yes that is what our cover is for to compete head on with the rental company's offer. We do it much cheaper with the down side being that
you would have to claim with Allianz should you have an accident.

Hello. We are Australians who will be renting a small car in Windhoek, Namibia, from Hertz and driving it into Botswana, then back to Windhoek. We have another rental a few days later for travel from Johannesburg to Durban, South Africa. I understand that we will require two separate excess insurance contracts. I would like to make sure that we are covered for the above three countries? Many thanks.

They make no distinction regarding countries as far as I know. Options are just Australia or International.

Hi,
I'm planning on hiring a car in the UK, the standard excess is 1000pound, all invoices would be in pounds (not AUD), how does this affect claiming (if in the unfortunate case I have to)?
Thanks!

Hi Emily, no problems, 1000 pounds is less than $2000
Allianz simply convert it an reimburse the cost of the damage.

Hello Sandy,
From my use of trip cover it is only cover for your excess. I’m not certain about snow cover, best to ring Allianz and ask! Sorry I couldn’t be more help!

Hi Sandy, we work within the terms and conditions of the rental company. If they allow you to go up to the snow then we cover you there also.

Hello,if I buy your product then I have to pay a big amount to my car company Britz (5.000 AUD - franchise), but my local coin is Euro. This is a payment (they do not block the money) so when they give me back the money I could have a different exchange rate and lose a lot of money...do you cover this? I have read good reviews about you, but also people from abroad complaining about this problem, because if you add Tripcover insurance rate, plus bank comission to pay in AUD, plus exhange rate... finaly you pay the same more or less.Thank you.

Hi TC,
I'm thinking of hiring a camper van or motorhome (Britz) from Perth and travelling up Darwin. The excess is approximately $5000.

Do you do excess reduction for campers and/or motorhomes?

Hi Peter, yes we do but we only offer $4000, or $6000 which means you can take out either and be over covered by $1000 for the $6000 policy or be under covered by $1000 for the $4000 policy

Do you still have to leave your credit card or deposit with car hire company once you have paid their rental if you take out a policy with Tripcover or is this then waivered?

Yes, the rental company will put a hold on some credit on your card, mainly to establish that they have your cc details and can deduct money
in the event of an accident.

I'm taking a trip around WA and have purchased insurance with you. My travel companion said "Is Third Party covered?"

1 answer
Tripcover
Desmond S.Tripcover

Hi David most if not all the major car rental companies have third party as standard
ie if you hit a BMW their insurance should cover it and then they would charge you their excess of around $4000
The policy that we sell for Allainz is covering the excess.

Dan

Danasked

Is tripcove plan A covered emergency roadside assistance ? Thank you

1 answer
Tripcover
Desmond S.Tripcover

Hi Aamiau, we don't specifically cover it. Any car rental company worth their salt would cover their car if it breaks down as it is their
responsibility to give you a sound car and should cover it if you need to call roadside assist for their faluty car. If it is was part of their excess liability yes we would definitely cover it. And if it was for a flat tyre we would cover it. If it was for locked keys in the car then that would be different again.

Hi, my travel insurance do have a car rental cover excess up to $1500. I planned to purchase your product to provide a better coverage. In the event if i need to make a claim, do i submit the claim to you first or my travel ins co? What should be the procedures?

1 answer
Tripcover
Desmond S.Tripcover

Obviously it will depend on the accident and damage but Allianz Global Assistance will be able to assist you if you are going through the claims process.
They do have a clause where by you cannot "double dip" but you can use your 2 policies if necessary for a claim.

Hi
I will be going on a trip to Melbourne and Tasmania. I will be booking with a car company in Melbourne (12 - 16 Dec 2017) and a different car company in Tasmania (16 - 24 Dec 2017). As the dates for the insurance is continuously from 12 - 24 Dec 2017, can I make a single purchase of the insurance, i.e. from 12 - 24 Dec or do I have to make 2 separate purchases, i.e. one for 12 - 16 Dec and another for 16 - 24 Dec as I am hiring from 2 different car rental companies? Thank you.

Hi Anthony, although that would be logical, unfortunately you will need to take out separate policies for each rental agreement.
