Avoid Aunt Betty. A subsidiary of flight centre. Absolute crooks
Been a flight centre customer for a while now, but now stuff them. They are crooks.
My wife and I was due to fly with Qantas to Singapore on May 13. It was booked with auntbetty which is a FLT subsidiary.
I knew I was going to cop some cancellation fees. Fair enough if it was couple of hundred bucks. I get it is a commercial business..
However, I was gobsmacked at at $400 charge per person for The airline fee, so I looked at the Qantas website. For every fare class it had indicated there was no fee. So how come I am being charged 400 pp? Tha...Read more

Terrible Customer Service
They actually have the audacity to hang up on the customers when they can't reach a solution. Never book your tickets or anything with this shoddy company. Outsourced all customer service to India or some other country where they can't speak english.

Terrible service!!!!
They send me an email that my ticket is on credit shell with a very minimal information today. When I tried to call them, first 4-5 attempts were failed and finally someone very rude customer service answer the phone. And I was asking different options rather than hold, he was rude and hung up . Can you believe it!!! For our own money we are chasing them and Instead of giving good suggestion and explaining what can we do, they are making us feel like we are chasing them for no reason. Very terrible service!!!! I am so frustrated with Aunt Betty, they do not accept emails, nor attending calls. I tried to call several times, at different times and no one is answering the phone, no one!
Aunt Betty sent an email with a form with minimal information and made me choose about asking for a credit travel, leave it as it is, or cancellation. It was hard to pick an option without knowing the implications, costs, etc of every option. disgustingly terrible
Had flights booked and obviously the covid-19 virus happened.
Aunty Betty stopped taking emails, not only do they stop taking them the remove the ability to send and email. Absolutely disgusted that your business can’t work through an email list of customers issues.
I’ve sat on the phone more than a handful of times for over 3 hours. I would assume your nit even answering calls, I’ve tried even the option of flights with in 4 days.

Not only can I not get in contact with your company you stuff up my refund with no personal contact so the matter is handballed to another business to which they reply contact Aunty Betty.... As per previous review, I am adding to ensure we are all aware. Part of Flight Centre group and rip off merchants are robbing me of $3700.
Go to Facebook and join up to "Flight Centre Class Action Australia" page. The administrator is garnering interest for a class action against Flight Centre Group for all the victims under their many many brands.

Hard to deal with
Flight Centre own both BYO Jet and Aunt Betty. Had 3 business class tickets booked to Europe (2 with BYO Jet and 1 with Aunt Betty) same flight. All cancelled. Refunds quickly with no fees taken out by BYO Jet. Still waiting from Aunt Betty. Phone calls and lodged email request. Can't complain via email as they are not taking emails anymore. Interesting they have removed T and C's from original booking. Waiting via phone goes on forever. Don't use this company

Do not use Aunty Betty!
I cancelled my booking on 27.1.2020 and I got a message which said my refund will be paid in the next 12 weeks. However, I did not get my refund after 12 weeks so I called it back on 27.4.2020 and I was told that my refund will be paid in 8 hours but I still haven't received my refund until now (30.4.2020). I am not going to trust this company again. We should not keep silence and I am going to report this case to ACCC & Consumer Affairs. Complaints will not help but actions do.

Greedy Company
Charging consumers because airlines cancelled the flight and also charging consumers for rebooking of flights again which was cancelled by Airlines. They won’t even get in touch with the Airline to get refund for the consumer because if Airline issues the full refund Auntbetty would lose their commissions. What an UnAustralian behaviour by this company which is operated by Flight Centre. Shame on you people for ripping thousands of Australians who are already struggling. My flight got canceled due to COVID19
At first, would not refund - after sitting on a call for 3 hours I got though
I was held to ransom take refund charged $600 and wait 12 weeks
$600 profit for them due to COVID19

Worst Company - Never Book With Them
I bought flight tickets with this company, and paid for cancellation insurance.
The customer service is the worst, they hang up on you. I've been calling repeatedly because they hang up on you on purpose more than 4 times.
They are not respecting the cancelation insurance we paid for, and gave us credit that we can not use since it can only be used for the same airline and the same rout (this airline is not flying this rout anymore).

Happy With Outcome (So Far)
Same as everyone else flights cancelled by carrier to Europe - June 2020 . Didn't want to battle them for a refund (and pay fee) so opted for "CREDIT SHELL". Some weeks past after selecting my choice as per their email contact and heard nothing back. So on to the phone was only option. These are some circumstances you most likely will experience;
- Be prepared for wait time on hold to be over an hour

Poor communication and service
Booked flights for may. Airline cancelled flights due to COVID. Company was impossible to communicate with - more or less forced a credit shell but no explanation. Original conditions impossible to comply with (use within 12 month from original purchase). No information as to how to use it - I.e. can booking be made with any service through AB or only the original airline? The service and communication has been awful. I will never again use an agency - always directly with airline from now on.

Atrocious - Avoid like the plague.
Simply the worst, I will never use this organisation or any of the Flight Centre aliases again. Impossible to contact (deleted their email contact from their web site), wait time is hours when phoning, and then they hang up, or they say that they will contact you (and they don't). In my opinion I would recommend dealing with legitimate, ethical, organisations.

Taking advantage of the COVID-19 crisis
Due to Covid-19 crisis, it was impossible to fly from Sydney to Manila in march, even PAL sent me some cancellation mails but the AuntBetty agent said that they where able only able to give me a voucher for Phillipines Airline to use in one year but they cancelled the flight so they have to refund me the ticket !!!! what can be fair is to have a Auntbetty voucher to use on any flight and not only PAL.

Extremely poor business practice
My friend and I had a booking (ABY2624657) which was cancelled by the operating airline (VA). We were offered a credit, but decided to opt for the refund and cop the $250 cancellation fee per person imposed by Aunt Betty.
I read through the terms and conditions carefully (accessed through the Aunt Betty website, as the link to the T&C attached to the itinerary email has not been working since booking our flights), which said that airline cancellation fees would also be passed onto us.

rmation from two customer service reps that due to COVID, VA will be waiving any cancellation fees imposed by the airline. They reassured me this is per the airline's Commercial Policy with travel agents, and although they could not note this down on our booking (as it was already dictated in the Commercial Policy), advised me to insist Aunt Betty that they contact VA directly through the agent specific hotline if they queried it. Aunt Betty has since vehemently refuted the existence of such waiver under VA's Commercial Policy, and outright refused to contact VA (denying the existence of a contact platform with the airline). In the end, Aunt Betty has charged the initial agent cancellation fee of $250 per person, and also charged $260 in cancellation fees "imposed by the airline".Similar opinion? I found myself stumbling across Aunt Betty whilst looking for the cheapest flights to Barcelona. Aunt betty was around $50 AUD cheaper than any other website so I thought why the hell not go with them. Big mistake. Covid-19 had hit and we were forced to cancel travel plans. My travel insurance had demanded that we get a written cancellation quote from each individual booking we had made. I went on Aunt bettys website and they said they had deactivated their email address due to too many emails in regards to covid-19, the most important thing needed for customers to get their money back through travel insurance. I called up Aunt betty and was on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes before I came across a rude lady. I explained my situation and told her I need an email or a letter sent to my house stating the cancellation costs for cancelling my flight. She said it was not possible because the email system had been deactivated and she said just to wait out the period because the flights might be refunded if we are unable to fly. We went back and forth for 10 minutes with myself stating I need this written to get my $700 back for flights and I didn’t want to wait it out based on a chance that the flight might be cancelled. She finally said ‘as I’ve told you before, once this phone call is over, I will send you the email’. The call ended and after a week there is still no email so I was blatantly lied to by a customer service agent. Will not use them again
Not able to travel due to COVID-19, I reached out a month before my flights to investigate how to get a credit or refund. No replies to two emails despite an auto-response stating they would reply in 3 days. I was then told when I called that Aunt Betty were only speaking to those with flights in less than 24 hours and that they would have to disconnect my call.

2 weeks to get my money back. You have the money, you do not need to wait 12 weeks. I have reported Flight Centre trading as Aunt Betty to Consumer Affairs Victoria & the ACCC. It is unconscionable behaviour what you are doing to consumers. Big business, holding onto critical funds that should be rightfully in the hands of the consumer > the elderly, the unemployed and everyone else you are milking the system with. It is an absolute disgrace. No-one should ever use Aunt Betty, Flight Centre or any of the other 20 brands they hide behind. Everyone else in the same boat should report Flight Centre to the ACCC, their behaviour will only change when Rod Sims comes down on them.
