our house was built in 2008, as always not everything was perfect including the Build Manager.
anyway, i was very happy with the Team that repaired all the defects....but.......just this weekend whilst having the house repainted, I discovered the Timbers over the outside colonnade were rotted.....much to my surprise the timber that was used was finger jointed pine.....the thing that peeved me was the fact that I paid for structural Merbau as stipulated in the contract for the fire rating on the property.
Somebody in AVJ obviously were not doing their job to well.....
I would like to see AVJ come to the party and replace the timber with the correct material, even though it was 12 years ago, or at least compensate me.

We would not recommend you guys to build with them (Sekisui House) and dont do the same mistakes as we did.
Their sales person from Kellyville mentioned and guaranteed that we will have no problem building one of their display house. That is the main reason why we signed contract with AV Jennings at the first place. Turned out we had to have our house size cut and are having issue with double garage.
In addition, to that our Design Assessment application were rejected by Council twice and almost lose the Government first home grant worth...
Read more of $17000. Took them more than forever to build 2 storey house. After moving in, we found some many issues related to their neglience and slackness. 1st issue - Dishwasher 3 months ago we started to use our dishwasher for the first time resulting in disaster; the dishwasher was leaking water from the bottom of the door to all of our kitchen floor. A plumber came and had a look and mentioned that the dishwasher had never been installed and placed properly. In addition to that, the drain pipe from the dishwasher wasn't drilled so the water couldn't go anywhere.- 203 reviews

Having a narrow block was going to develop some challenging issues especially when trying to determine whether two dwellings could be placed upon it. Approximately more than 5 months ago, exactly in June 2012. I went to a AV Jennings showroom with various displays on offer at one of their new developing suburbs in Melbourne as I found that "Sekisui House", the website that I visited had many floor plans that suited narrow blocks to begin with as well as doing custom design work.
After a brief initial meeting with a sales rep, I decided to mo...
Read moreve on and meet with one their representatives which was seen during informal hours. At this point, let me just say that everything until this moment was perfect and pristine, and after 2 to 3 additional months consulting with the representative. I found that the person was very comfortable in explaining everything, but delivering something feasible and just to get past stage 1 was an absolute waste of time. After numerous emails, phone calls and trying to get some appointments made up properly that resulted in those meetings being pushed and constantly rescheduling just annoyed me greatly. There is a four letter word starting with S and ending with T is something that I would like to say that this representative has damaged his reputation as well as dragging the company down the toilet with him. Anyone with a narrow block that they are deciding to either build a single dwelling or multiple ones', do not go to AV Jennings, especially Sekisui House. Unless you have a wider block, stay away.... go some where else who knows how to deliver and get the job done. I have since taken my business elsewhere and waiting to get past Stage 1, while having to have paid approximately $4,000 to have some plans drawn up, informative meetings and so far much more promising than my previous encounter. Floor Plans, Initial customer service Waste of time, Did not deliver expectations; Communication non-existent, Customer service afterwards was invisible.Went to hameworld at Kellyville today and looked through many display homes, when we went to the AV Jennings display home a sales rep advised us very rudely that we needed a appointment to view their houses "youre kidding me right" we just walked away and after reading these reviews im glad we did, when a product is reviewed this poorly stay away.
If we were treated this badly at the display homes what will their attitude be once money is exchanged.

AV herds the Australian consumers around like sheep, not leaving the comsumer to deside whats best for themself, eg selecting your own house for the block "stand" in the land home deals
Same fine homes on offer, but not readly available.
No open market in regards to AV land home deals, homes are selected for you in there deals and not diverting from the set deals "crazy".
The worst customer service I have EVER experienced! We put down our deposit in November last year, being told that building would commence on our house in early 2009 (most likely February). We did not receive our contracts until late March and we are still waiting for building to start. 8 months we have been waiting! After being told the site was ready to build on immediately, the only delay was supposed to be some small alterations to the plans we asked for. We have spent that 8 months CONSTANTLY chasing them up, correcting their mistakes and ...

They are full of promises but very rarely follow through - I am a first home buyer and I NEVER want to build again. Beautiful display homes, friendly sales staff Everything and everyONE you deal with after submitting your depositDealing with AVJ has been the worst experience in my life. It's been a biggest mistake which I am deeply regretting. Please get your delivery dates included in the cortact itself and DO NOT BELIEVE what the sales people tell you...
Great House designs and reasonably priced
The sales people promised to deliver the house on a particular date but it's been 3 months past the date and still no end in sight. On enquiring i'm told it will take another 6-8 weeks. As someone said earlier, the site supervisor is a huge joke. Complaints to national manager level has also yielded no results. Will never ever build with them and will never recommend AVJ to any of my friends in future.

Documents not handled and passed on, and if passed on, the next person does seem to look at it and continues with previous mistakes. Huge delays in communication. From the start until the finish we could not have been happier overall. We were informed about the progress with every stage of the building process. Any work that was not top quality was redone and quickly. No phone calls went unanswered. Nothing was too hard for them.
Our plans were very different to the standard galleria and we created our home the way we wanted. Deleting walls and adding things was no issue (however the admin was a little slow).

I wish I would have come across this website sooner before buying a house and land package with AV Jennings.
I did an inspection of the house prior to settlement laet week and is dissatidied with the workmanship and the quality of the building.
An example of poor quality material used, were the wall, it so thin and easy to break! The wall in wardrobe was broken when the railing for the wardrobe was install, I seriously doubting the stregth of the wardrobe in holding the weight of my clothing!
As the usual procedure, went through the h...
Read moreouse and look for defects that need fixing before key get handed over to us, for most of the thing that we ask to be fix response were "I don’t think we can do much about it". When asked if there is another final inspection, the Customer Service Manager (desoite friendly services) has responded no! We have been told that, once the building manager tick off all the additional improvement that could be completed, house will proceed to settlement. I have found that I have been cheated by a legal CON MAN for huge sum of money and poor quality of work by unqualify trade mans.- 2 reviews

I pity the poor AVJ customer who ever has the misfortune to deal with NSW management. They lie and cheat. Management seem to have forgotten about little things called honesty and customer service. I will never build with them again. I will tell anyone who will listen about dealings with AVJ. I will always recommend prospective customers consider building with anyone else. It's a shame AVJ weren't put out of their misery with the GFC of 2008. /rant
Versatile floorplan.

We started 10 months ago with AVJennings and its been a total nightmare. Started with Kellyville Con artist [name censored] who promises anything just to get you to sign the contract, once signed he just washes his hands away. Then dealing with head office in Baulkham hills is a complete nightmare. The Customer service has absolutely no clue as to whats happening this is headed by a person called [name censored] and he is a biggest con artist as never responds to any calls always goes to his voicemail. I wonder if the Managing Director / CEO of...
Read more this dodgy company is aware of this or are they part of this dodgy business. Overall I am almost in financial ruins becaue of these cheaters. I pity the people who have already signed the contract. I wonder if ACCC or Fair trading would be able to penalise these con artists and give some sort of a protection for clients. Once you have signed the contract basically they can do anything they want. Now if I pull out because I am sure I will be sued, no protection for consumers at all ?. I have already detered a few potential clients from building with AVjennings as they liked our floor plans.. I seriously wish this company is shut down so that they don't con consumers like us. AVJnightmare Good House Designs Everything Else, Lies, deceiving and the list growsFound fault in house, told by NSW office head maintenance bad luck, they don't care after got paid! Tried to hang up on me after abusing me. I said I would ring head office and complain- he said "just try, I am at head office so bad luck they wont do anything.
I tried to complain but he was standing with the receptionist and she wouldn't/couldn't put me through to his boss.
Refused to fix dodgy work.
Rang building authority- they said it's normal sort of work for them and heard it all before.
DODGY! EVERYTHING!
AVJ has built us a fabulous house, which now that we are in are making into a fabulous home. We built just north of Newcastle NSW. Getting the plans right and accurate IS a secret to success. With Client changes, I submitted sketches and pictures to relate what I was talking about and these became useful tools.
We moved walls, extended ensuites, added extra rooms, changed complete kitchen set up, nominated specific PC items to use, added bulkheads, did the Electrical supply to the house (I am elect)The local council had specific drainage requi...
