AV Jennings does everything in panic, they don’t care after sales land . If any issues arise they will not listen clients problems. When we bought land and start to make plans for construction, we found that there is design issues according to building envelope. They leaves driveway wrong sides even garage shows in drawings different side, we requested to my side neighbour and they allowed to attach garage wall to wall. But now again electric power line issues for my block . They missed underground power line for my land, again expensive for u...
Read mores to cut and digging the road and driveway. Even they should be responsible to provide power line for us. But did not make a solution for us. Still we waiting and my construction work also stop. Thanks

These people don't have a heart and will take every last penny. I am a first home buyer and I just missed the settlement date (which is a Friday) because of a paperwork that needs clarification. My solicitor requested so many times to at least waive the penalty interest since they can see that it's not our fault and it was the delay of the bank releasing the money. No matter what you do they will not listen. Not only they penalized us on the date itself, they also penalized us for not for Saturday and Sunday. Not only the land was expensive ...
Read moreto begin with, but they still want to penalize us for something that's out of our control. Just because they are "WITHIN THEIR RIGHTS". We paid for what they asked and they can't even waive the penalty interest for delayed settlement. Don't do business with this company!- Customer Service

our house was built in 2008, as always not everything was perfect including the Build Manager.
anyway, i was very happy with the Team that repaired all the defects....but.......just this weekend whilst having the house repainted, I discovered the Timbers over the outside colonnade were rotted.....much to my surprise the timber that was used was finger jointed pine.....the thing that peeved me was the fact that I paid for structural Merbau as stipulated in the contract for the fire rating on the property.
Somebody in AVJ obviously were not doing their job to well.....
I would like to see AVJ come to the party and replace the timber with the correct material, even though it was 12 years ago, or at least compensate me.

Overall my townhouse is nice but the post purchase experience has been an absolute nightmare.
I noticed a few minor defects early (a few leaking pipes) which were fixed quickly. However after a year I discovered there was a massive water leak under the kitchen. The water seeped under tiles and damaged nearby walls and the whole kitchen island had to be replaced. My household had to live with extensive mold growth and never ending drain-flies for a year with our health negatively affected while repairs were extremely slow and ineffective.

Read more Moved in September 28th (water leak was present but invisible from day one) - On April 3rd, 2020, after noticing warped kitchen timbers I contacted AVJ. - After the issue being hand-balled from AVJ to the kitchen installers back to AVJ and then to original plumber, a plumber came to try and stop the leak but the extensive water under the kitchen was not removed. - On August 27th 2020 (almost 6 months later) the kitchen island began to be removed and the water was vacuumed up. There was extensive mold and thousands of drain fly larvae living underneath. - To allow drying time, I was 13 days with no kitchen island, dishwasher, sink, taps. No compensation was given for loss of a functional kitchen for so long. - On September 16th we discovered the leak was still there and a lot of water was already under the new kitchen. The REAL source of the leak was identified and fixed.- Customer Service

Stupidly bought a new townhouse from
AVJ in Richlands and of course it’s worth 50k less than when I bought it 4 yrs ago (I’m
Better educated now).
and I just got another list a mile
Long from my property manager for repairs.
Everything is loose, Falls apart,
Dosent last eg toilet roll holders, toilets seats all had to be replaced, outside down pipes,
Door handles, doorbells, hot plates, dishwasher, wrong plants planted and I have to pay $900
To chop Them down and replace, deck needs repainting already, other properties in the coMplex weren’t painted properly and we had to pay 80k from Strata to fix and the list goes on... just a rubbish build. DONT Invest with them.

Did the contract around June 2008 based on display home at Warner in Brisbane. Moved in around June 2009. Now it is 2020. Excellent build experience. House has had no issues. Had some issues with the rainwater system - was fixed on warranty - twice. No surprises on the cost. No variations.

Having previously posted a review titled DEPLORABLE (attached) AV Jennings made contact via review site and email suggesting they will review once the "supervisor comes in next week". Then AV Jennings changed their mind stating they have not found any grounds to extend any extension of any warranty..... They also stated "the owners have not demonstrated any attempt to remedy a long term roof leak. They also stated "the owners had not ever contacted AV Jennings or Sekisui House since the roof leak became evident. They even told us that "care an...
Read mored maintenance of the property is solely the responsibility of the owners" Really, as if I don't know this. They even suggested "they will not be taking any further action in relation to the posts on the internet Product Review Forum. Really AV Jennings, I'm only stating the facts of my claim. Yet you use threatening overtones to your customers. As soon as the leak (photos) in the roof was found immediate contact was made. ( as if I would not take immediate action on a roof leak.) Who can tell how long it was leaking before I found it. Having had a previous bathroom leak (of which it was NEVER completed properly) We have had contact with this company. Their records surprisingly don't show this contact. I emailed multiple directors of the company of which only one responded stating AV Jennings were not responsible for Sekisui House maintenance, yet, all my contract details have both companies on the letter head. I send an email suggesting customers like myself make or break companies and how they could perhaps do thing better moving forward. I suggested that instead of spend $$ on sports sponsorships they should better serve their customers. I received no response. The tiles in my front bathroom are not level ( ruler photo) This was raised with the company. Roof Tile vs Gutters an inch gap. Try cleaning these gutter. Rain floods right over the top. Again raised with the company. Internal Brickwork (photos) this poor workmanship was brought to the attention of the building supervisor. Plaster board right over the top was the result. Nail holes scan been seen at a number of areas across the house (photo) I could go on stating plenty of issues with AV Jennings / Sekisui House. I am sorry you didn't show more respect to your customer and as I stated to you I will warn others of your poor performance so that they can make up their own mind if they should use your company.- +3

When you need to replace a leaking bathroom 5 years after a build..this is after the fixed cracked tiles once. Nail holes coming through the single coat of paint..back bathroom leaked into the wall cavity..they fixed and never returned to touch up paint. Seems to be one coat of paint throughout the house. Outdoor alfesco area shows panel joins of the ceiling... Really poor finishing touches...i could go on...Ordinary at best..

Bought a property here a year ago. Has been delayed 6 months and haven't been given any explanation as to why. The projects administrator hasn't responded to any emails either. Not sure what's going on. I feel like they haven't been honest to me for quite some time. A lot of other projects I looked at were completed in a much shorter period of time a long time ago.

When we built our house in 1984 we could not afford very much. The house was a simple 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom with no car accommodation. Naturally since then we have added a carport and a pergola.
The house has been faultless from that day to this, we have spent virtually nothing on maintenance. The house has just passed a building inspection as a very solid house because we are finally selling.
I have been looking at other houses because we are buying and most of them today don't measure up to our 30 year old spec home based on quality.
At first we didn't realise just how lucky we were but now we definitely know.
Solid house and virtually no maintenance costs.
Nothing in 30 years

We would not recommend you guys to build with them (Sekisui House) and dont do the same mistakes as we did.
Their sales person from Kellyville mentioned and guaranteed that we will have no problem building one of their display house. That is the main reason why we signed contract with AV Jennings at the first place. Turned out we had to have our house size cut and are having issue with double garage.
In addition, to that our Design Assessment application were rejected by Council twice and almost lose the Government first home grant worth...
Read more of $17000. Took them more than forever to build 2 storey house. After moving in, we found some many issues related to their neglience and slackness. 1st issue - Dishwasher 3 months ago we started to use our dishwasher for the first time resulting in disaster; the dishwasher was leaking water from the bottom of the door to all of our kitchen floor. A plumber came and had a look and mentioned that the dishwasher had never been installed and placed properly. In addition to that, the drain pipe from the dishwasher wasn't drilled so the water couldn't go anywhere.- 205 reviews

Having a narrow block was going to develop some challenging issues especially when trying to determine whether two dwellings could be placed upon it. Approximately more than 5 months ago, exactly in June 2012. I went to a AV Jennings showroom with various displays on offer at one of their new developing suburbs in Melbourne as I found that "Sekisui House", the website that I visited had many floor plans that suited narrow blocks to begin with as well as doing custom design work.
After a brief initial meeting with a sales rep, I decided to mo...
Read moreve on and meet with one their representatives which was seen during informal hours. At this point, let me just say that everything until this moment was perfect and pristine, and after 2 to 3 additional months consulting with the representative. I found that the person was very comfortable in explaining everything, but delivering something feasible and just to get past stage 1 was an absolute waste of time. After numerous emails, phone calls and trying to get some appointments made up properly that resulted in those meetings being pushed and constantly rescheduling just annoyed me greatly. There is a four letter word starting with S and ending with T is something that I would like to say that this representative has damaged his reputation as well as dragging the company down the toilet with him. Anyone with a narrow block that they are deciding to either build a single dwelling or multiple ones', do not go to AV Jennings, especially Sekisui House. Unless you have a wider block, stay away.... go some where else who knows how to deliver and get the job done. I have since taken my business elsewhere and waiting to get past Stage 1, while having to have paid approximately $4,000 to have some plans drawn up, informative meetings and so far much more promising than my previous encounter. Floor Plans, Initial customer service Waste of time, Did not deliver expectations; Communication non-existent, Customer service afterwards was invisible.Find out how AVJennings compares to other Home Builders

If a customer spent as much on a car as they do on a house would they have to watch their supplier as much as we do with AV Jennings?
What have they done?

Don't expect anything (even though this is the biggest expense to you) and you won't be disappointed
Sales person was great and service good until we signed up. Sales person quit and we were simply another number after that. Lack of communication in the office will have you explaining things over and over to your contract manager (if they remember to assign you one in the first place-we were forgotten due to the salesperson leaving the company) and then even once you get a contract manager they will forget after 15 phone calls who you are and where you are building. If you become the too hard basket (ie simply asking each week how things ar...
Read moree progressing) be prepared for the office staff to hand ball you to someone else and begin avoiding all your calls. So far the excuses have ranged from "he's on annual leave, sick leave, jury duty, left early, at lunch at 3pm etc. Even our tiler had a holy day and that's why he hadn't started (no that isn't a joke). Once you get your slab you are assigned a site manager who you will never be allowed to speak with and not allowed his number at all. You will need to speak with someone at the office (who most of the time doesn't have a clue what progress your house is making). Whenever I have sent emails asking more than one different thing I've got a one line answer stating the obvious. I work in the car sales and we cannot get away with hand balling queries and being vague towards customers like this. If you build with this company be prepared for some shoddy workmanship (ie bricks out of allignment and patch ups involving wood being stuck in places to hide holes on the outside of our house) all whilst delaying other trades from starting and finishing. Be prepared for trades to be disorganised stopping and starting the simplest of jobs and no one at site for 7 weeks nearing the end of the contract due finish date. Also be prepared for conversations to be forgotten so put EVERYTHING no matter how insignificant it may seem in writing or you've got no hope of resolving the issue. Also make sure you remember any variations (they won't) so remind them again and again or close to completion you'll realise they've forgotten key things. Basically it seems like they take on way too much work than they are equipped to handle. Don't expect them to care if you are desperate to get in for whatever reason. You're just another number and will be told to refer to your contract date whilst watching other neighbours houses take over yours in progress. We are also annoyed because other builders have put road base down to stop mud being brought into their homes. AVJ wont do that so be prepared to see your $250000 worth of investment full of mud inside during the rainy season. The design. Bad communication. Tradies stopping and starting. Delays due to their stuff ups. Lack of care.Went to hameworld at Kellyville today and looked through many display homes, when we went to the AV Jennings display home a sales rep advised us very rudely that we needed a appointment to view their houses "youre kidding me right" we just walked away and after reading these reviews im glad we did, when a product is reviewed this poorly stay away.
If we were treated this badly at the display homes what will their attitude be once money is exchanged.

We built a house in Adelaide with AV Jennings in 2001 and there now appears to be some structural problems with the balcony posts at the front of the house. Are we still covered under builders warranty? Tim
In NSW the warranty period is 7 years......I personally will never build with them again, due to the lack of care shown.
We have a 1980's AV Jennings home in the Gap Queensland and I have just broken the bathroom door handle. These handles are white marble handles with a gold surround.
Can I buy a replacement anywhere?

We have a townhouse at VIVA Calamvale which is now 9 plus years old.
The shower recesses / wet areas have been slowly leaking for some time. This was only noticed when a stain was seen on the ceiling directly below the bathroom.
The investigation has shown that the water proofing was not carried out correctly. This is supported by an engineering report from JHA.
I believe this can be classified as fraud as we have a signed form stating that the water proofing was completed to Australian standards.
Can AV Jennings inspect this. Are we able to receive some assistance with this as it is a building defect.
Very disappointing.
From a body corporate position we are concerned that other units that were built in this section of the development may be of the same quality.
This is to be investigated.
