Do not buy this unit
This a great machine, I have 2 and love their functions and performance.
HOWEVER, you cannot get replacement filters so it will be obsolete very soon. It will be a complete waste of money and it wasn't cheap....very disappointing!!!
Purchased in July 2021 at The Good Guys for $350.00.

Good Air Purifier
Good air purifier. I have a 6 month old and the air purifier is always running in her room. I wouldn't call it silent as It acts as a good white noise machine for us.. Which for our current requirements is a positive.. The filter is easy to remove and clean.
We can see visible difference like less dust on the side tables, table lamp base etc. Also when we remove the filter to clean there is a lot of particles on there too.
We have been using it everyday for the past six months and the change filter started flashing.. Which can be annoying in the night..
Purchased at Harvey Norman.

Don't get caught out
Don't get caught out buying one of these machines no matter how cheap. I bought mine from the Good Guys 15 months ago and I was happy with it then. Since then I have re-ordered replacement filters twice. They usually cost $49 each. I went to reorder another two in August, they took the order, and I paid and they said it would take a week or two to order them in and they'd call me when the order came in. 6 weeks later I phoned to inquire when the filters were coming in to be told they could no longer get them from the supplier. Two days la...Read more
ter a Customer Service Officer phoned to tell me they could get them in and that an order had been placed again. A week later again, I went in to the store to be told they could no longer supply the filters, and they would refund me the payment. Such a shambles. After exhaustive searching and ordering the same from 2 other suppliers, I was informed that the company CLI had shut down, Breville had bought the name, but these filters were completely out of stock and that they would no longer be produced. So 2 more sets of order cancellations and refunds. Even now, on the net, 6 major outlets are still advertising the machines for sale, including Amazon. I tried 5 other major suppliers selling the machine hoping they had some surplus stock to find none could access or supply replacement filters. Eventually I found someone on ebay who had about 20 in stock. They quoted $55 each including delivery last Wednesday. I hesitated waiting for the refunds to clear my bank account. Today (3 working days later, 5 if you count the weekend) I went to order 3 to find the ebay jockey had jacked up the price to $99 each. The machine cost me half that much and I still have to throw it out when they are used up. The bottom line is DON'T BUY the machines, you can't get replacement filters, unless you want to pay the ebay jockey the inflated price and still throw the machine out in 6 months.Purchased at The Good Guys for $187.00.

Good Air Filter
This air purifier offers good value and is portable so can be moved between rooms.
Have had this for some time and it does a good job of removing dust and odours from outside air. The night setting is quite but the lights are very bright and are not able to be dimmed, I stuck tape over them. The only other issue is the pre-filter needs to be cleaned every few weeks and may need to be hand washed and air dried before re-using.
Look for the replacement filters on special as they as a little expensive and I have been running them longer than what the manufacturer recommends if they look OK.
Purchased in October 2021 at The Good Guys for $187.00.

Very Effective
We live in a very smokey area with neighbours who run wood fires. Have been running these filters for about 6 years now. They are effective, we run one per room, and we couldn't live without them over winter.
Note: there is a filter change light (one of the regular lights starts flashing). This simply calculates the number of hours the machine has run. It does NOT actually test that your filter is full or needs replacing. Use your own judgement, but you may find that you can run them for considerably longer than what the manufacturer states, simply because they want to keep selling you new filters (prematurely).
Purchased in January 2021 for $249.00.

Malfunctioning after minimal use
My Cli-Mate unit, bought mid-2017, has developed an annoying hum at low speed. Sounds like a bearing is damaged, indicating that these units have cheap bearings. This unit has only been used for a few months during smokey winter weather, and only for a few hours at night during those months. So very little use, and now the bearings are going, sigh. Thank you, China, for flooding the world with cheap, low quality, junky products that soon end up in landfill!
The hum is so annoying that we cannot use the unit any longer. Its penetrating sound ...Read more
prevents sleep. During the day it is barely noticeable, but at night it's unbearable. The warranty situation is tricky. The cli-mate.com.au website has disappeared since Breville took over this brand. The Breville support page has a pulldown menu for selecting your product, but it does not have any air purifier option, so one wonders whether there is any support at all. I will have to take this back to Harvey Norman store, 50km away. I should have paid more and got a better quality brand.1 comment

One bad point
In point order:
1. Recommended for 20 square meter area (ie AP20)
2. Box states it covers 133 cubic meters (over an hour),
3. 133 cubic meters = 26 square meters,
4. AP20 and AP60 have the same size fan motor (filter sizes seem similar). AP60 has more operational bells and whistles,
5. Breville distributes this now (a good company),
6. Lights at night are ridiculously bright; the bad point,
7. Instruction manual pic of the filter placement is in wrong direction,
8. Too early to determine efficiency yet. Will update review later,

Dont buy company doesnt make filters anymore
!!!!!update!!!!!!
Dont buy this product. You will not find a replacement filter :(
This air purifier is affordable and portable - we cart it around the house giving each room a thorough go. It removes mould and dust and all things nasty from the air and pet smells are gone quickly at full setting. It has a very quiet night setting, but a bright on light which can't be dimmed, so doesn't work well for sleeping and light sensitivity. I have looked up replacement filters (don't need one yet) and they are about $50 which is terrific.

Great investment
Great product. Pro's... It helps remove the smell of smoke/odours from outside air coming into our house which is great. Night time mode is quiet and you don't know that it is really on other than the flashing LED light which is a little bright. Con's.. the weekly filter clean is a must and it does need to be hand washed and air dried before re-using. Overall, happy with this product.

it doesn't help with my hayfever symptoms
It helps a bit with the dust but my hay fever symptoms have not been reduced. Waste of money for me unfortunately as I bought two units. I live in a two bedroom unit so not a huge area to cover. Disappointed as I had high hopes based on reviews

Great machine
Bought this after researching air purifier for pet allergy and hay fever, was tossing between this and Winix. Decided to go with this as it is readily available at the shops (Harvey Norman). This model works great for the bedroom. The night mode is super quiet. The LED light is quite bright though, may annoy some people but I like it. Have not yet cleaned the filter. Purchased the CLI-AP60 for the living room which is a lot larger and so far so good.

Very quiet, perfect sleeping partner.
The sleep setting really peaceful. Cleans air well though the prefilter needs a weekly wash but apart from that easy to use. A secondfilter while the other is drying would be good as i mostly want it at bed time. Very light and portable and good also as a fan on humid days. I bought a homemedics previously. This is quieter onlowest setting and lacks the annoying blue led.
quiet, effective, timer functions.

Questions & Answers
Liz K66asked
Where can I buy filters in Australia for this unit please
5 answers
Hi Liz, some months ago I wrote s review on this machine. I have also answered a number of enquiries similar to yours. The short answer is (since I wrote the first review) I have not been able to buy filters anywhere from any source, and I have exhausted every avenue I know including overseas, I was told (from a major retailer) that more than a year ago Breville bought out CLi and shut production down completely with the view to promoting their pwn machine which has no resemblance to the CLi. There are still 5 major retail suppliers who continue to advertise the sale of these machines - they either haven't caught on about the situation or they are dumping these machines as a liability. I have tried every retail supplier in Australia and New Zealand I can find, and even searched Amazon and eBay to find replacement filters. Absolutely no luck at any price. I am on the last filter I could buy (almost a year ago), and when that is unuseable, I will chuck the whole machine. If you have bought a machine recently then you've been had, and it will be useless once the filter becomes. Sorry can't give you any good news.
Thanks Richard for your reply. Yes, I did buy the unit last year from Good Guys and bought extra filters at the time. So disappointing as I really like this machine and in fact have two.
Did you notice on eBay at the moment, there is a Hong Kong seller selling 1 filter for $34 and says it is for the AP20. It does look like the right one. Can you have a look and see if you think it looks right.?
Anyway, thanks for your info
Kind regards
Liz
Hi Liz, Yes, I've had a look, it looks similar but I'm not sure it is the right filter, a waste of time effort and money if it doesn't fit properly - and even if it is, what about the next time you need to replace the filter, especially if you have two machines? I wouldn't bother buying it. If you bought these from the Good Guys only recently I'd go and get your money back - it is not fit for purpose if you can't get replacement filters. If they can't guarantee replacement filters then they have sold a faulty product. Under consumer law, you're entitled to a full refund.
David Leo n.asked
Are CLI-AP20 replacement filter sold or discontinued?
2 answers
Hi David,
If you check my review the answer is there - Cli-Mate Air Purifiers are STILL being advertised for sale by 6 leading whitegoods outlets, however as I have been informed from a previous stockist, this would have to be old stock (they're trying to deliberately or inadvertently trying to unload). I'm told that that sometime early last year Breville bought out Cli-Mate closed down production altogether with the intention of designing and selling their own brand sometime in the future. Filters for the Cli-Mate 20 are unprocurable from any source I can find (and I've tried so many), as stocks run totally dry. I can find no substitute filters of any kind. At the time I wrote the review, the only place you could get replacement filters was on eBay and as soon as the seller found out they were in total short stock he upped the price from $49 to $99 for the few he had left. I see that he has even fewer now and the price is now more than the machine cost. When the last filter in my machine becomes too clogged to clean, I'll just chuck the whole machine out.
I note your info thanks Richard Main.

My unit that I bought today seems to turn itself off about 10 min into being switched on. Almost like it looses power, but it hasn’t as it then restarts but I have to switch it on again, any suggestions? Or do I return it?

Breville support have given me a return number so I can swap it out at Harvey Norman. Meanwhile, another Cli-Mate CLI-AP20 unit we bought at the same time has also developed the buzzing sound. So 2 out of 2 units gone bad in one year!
