Poor Customer Service and Telephone wait time is shocking
Single TripI was a huge fan of Covermore Travel insurance but today was very disappointed with the service at the call centre. After 52 mins my call was answered. The woman who answered spoke so quickly and with a strong accent I did not understand a word and needed clarification that I was talking to Covermore Insurance. My enquiry related to the COVID-19 Claim excess payment that is referred to online - but after searching I could not find details / the amount anywhere. She explained about insurance premium changes according to excess chosen - I explained I am well aware of that - what I wanted was the COVID-19 excess amount and explanation how it worked. She advised me it was AUD 500 and after my further questioning seemed to be unsure about whether that was additional to my chosen excess or just the AUD 500. The phone went silent, I thought she was checking on my behalf - I could hear talk in the background - I asked if she was still there - was she checking - and eventually the call reverted to the auto answer machine with all the options to choose from - I was back at the end of the phone queue. After nearly an hour waiting and a few minutes talking to someone - I really was no more the wiser about this important excess and the conditions / circumstances related to such a claim. Covermore - don't hide this important information in the website - you refer us to this - rather than talk with the call centre. Make it clear and explain the conditions as $500 is alot considering your current premiums and profit margins! Not happy Covermore. Improve your customer service training for call centre staff - clarify the COVID excess and offer phone back to customers rather than have them wait on for possibly hours!OMG, how bad is the service from Cover-More

Attempted to make a claim online but there is a technical problem. Phoned Cover-More on 1300728822 and showed persistence by holding on for longer than 2 hours. Anne in the Phillipines answered and we had a problem where she could hear me but I couldn’t hear her, she said that wasn’t a problem because she could hear me. After a while she said I will check to see if there is a known glitch and sure enough Cover-More was aware of the problem but hadn’t fixed it. Single TripCalled to enquire what the domestic snow sport policy covered, after reading the exclusions online, it appeared to be nothing. After nearly an hour on hold Leisha answered. I politely told her of the lengthy wait time. She immediately put me through to the feedback survey which ended the call at conclusion. I would hate to think how consumers trying to make a claim would be treated, if this is how they treat new potential customers. They will never get my business.

Multi-TripThe insurance claims process is just about non-existent. The staff that answer the phones for inquiries are not knowledgable and don't know their PDS, I don't know if the claims staff are knowledgable because I never spoke to them, I just got sent impersonal generic letters apologising for their delays. I know the letters were sent only to comply with the General Insurance Code of Practice and not provide a good service. Single TripMost frustrating and no Customer service. Tried for three days to contact them during the day at various times, waiting for hours on hold, no luck, cant get anyone to assist . Wanted to upgrade from basic credit card policy, inform on Medical condition, extend travel period . NO ONE TO ASSIST. Very stressful and pathetic.
Hate to think if you have an emergency . How can they still be in business and claim the customer is important to them. All empty words .

Single TripI took a domestic policy out on 6 January but due to flooding had to reschedule. Covermore would not alter the policy start and finish dates so I took advantage of being within their 21 day cooling off period to cancel the policy. It then took several unanswered emails before I got a response and advice on 8th March that a full refund would be made. Despite further emails being sent I still got no reply so lodged a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority on 17th April and surprise surprise Covermore emailed me three days later advising the refund would be made to my credit card within 5 business days. The said refund was made on 20th April. Needless to say I will never use Covermore again!

Single TripWe purchased a domestic travel policy and unfortunately my wife had an accident a few weeks before we left. Covermore paid our claim in full. There was of course some paperwork involved including a letter from our GP but that is to be expected. We will use them again. I am concerned with all the negative feedback though maybe they are having staffing problems but ax I said we had no problems.

1st time experience and very happy with Covermore
Single Trip1st time we've ever taken out domestic travel insurance (via Virgin Airlines) but during the COVID pandemic we felt $230 (or so) would be a risk to take. Unfortunately during out holiday to Port Douglas we were informed we would have to isolate and extend of stay which cost nearly $2500 extra. We eventually got home and I then had to go through the task of collating all our extra expenses and costs and complete the claims documentation which was pretty lengthy. We received confirmation of receipt of our documents and then after around 14 days o

Multi-TripI wanted an annual multi trip policy. I put in the dates that I wanted to start, i.e. about 5 weeks from now. I also went through the medical process answering questions about pre-existing medical conditions. After paying the money it said the policy started today and we had no pre-existing conditions.
After being contacted by the company following this review, the issue is now satisfactorily resolved.

Appalling customer service
Single TripWe have successfully used Covermore for years, and I wanted to extend our business cover for one year and the website did not allow this option. It was a very high cost for 2 weeks only. The website was not user friendly and the fact that no-one has responded to our emails plus the fact that both my business partner and I have waited separately on the phone for 3 hours with no response has resulted in a very low opinion of Covermore Insurance now.

Single TripDisgraceful. I took out a policy when I paid an airfare online. I was given no options as to the date of the policy. I found out it covered just one day. I phoned Covermore to cancel the policy but after an hour gave up on the call and sent them a message on their own website for communications to them. No response. When I didn't see a refund on my credit card, I sent them another message. No response. And no refund either. Best to avoid Covermore entirely as they either don't read messages from customer or don't care. Inexplicably they appear to have a monopoloy with airlines and bank travel agencies.

Single TripPurchased on 22/11/21. Needed to add a new medical condition to my policy on 24/11. Waited on phone for 110 minutes only for line to drop out on being answered. Called back and waited as 2nd in line, for 40 minutes til call centre closed for day. Called first thing next morning and 94 minutes (2nd in queue whole time). Then the operator could find no record of my policy as it “probably wasn’t uploaded yet”. The only option is to cancel and ask for full refund and go elsewhere. Single TripVisited far north Queensland, virgin cancelled our return flight due to Covid. Re-booked with Qantas, and had our claim refused because our claim 'doesn't fall within any of the defined events listed'
That was the whole point of taking out the insurance in the first place! To ensure we would be covered if we incurred an issue with our travel. Typical of insurance companies.so we are now over $1100 out of pocket, due circumstances beyond our control.
Will never use this company again, and certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

This is a base level policy that can only provide cover for the cost of your tickets if the Journey was cancelled due to illness. There is no provision to claim for Covid under this policy type. As most peoole would be aware last Monday the NRL moved the game to Townsville and Melbourne went into lockdown again.

Single TripI have used Cover-more for years for holidays in Australia, the USA, and South Pacific. The last time I booked, I had just been diagnosed with an allergy, and the Cover-more team was really helpful in guiding me through the assessment process so that I was comfortable about my level of cover. Good value, easy to speak to an agent if you have questions, and they also tailored a package to suit travel on a freight ship to Cape York!
When COVID restrictions impacted travel they contacted me and offered a refund. I was amazed.

Multi-TripWe got a Cover More insurance with our flights to Hamilton Last December. When Jetstar cancelled our flight we were suddenly forced to buy tickets on a new flight. We lodged a claim with CoverMore which took a decent amount of time to resolve. They are very efficient and provided us with great service during this difficult time. I feel the issue was resolved in a timely manner and I would definitely use this insurance again in the future.

Single TripThere is a spot to add cancellation to a medical policy, but I was having trouble adding it in. I tried the chat, after waiting 30 minutes I received a standard we do not cover covid 19 This is not what I asked. Tried again and got more bumf on covid 19. Never got an answer.

Single TripWhat more to say, I’m still traumatised by my experience. It took threats from my family to get the Australian embassy involved to get me out of hospital after a cycling crash. If they hadn’t I’d probably still be there. To add insult to my injuries I had to pay my own Colombian hospital bill by credit card before leaving... in February. Single TripHave used Cover-More previously and even though we haven't had a claim it gives us peace of mind to know that we are covered when we travel. Going online and completing the details was simple if the directions are followed. I'll use Cover-More for all my travel insurance.

My flight was cancelled due to the pandemic and they didn't reply emails/ phone calls for months.
Now they say I wont get the money back from my tickets. Why did I book insurance then?
I don't recommend this insurance at all.
Horrible customer service getting back to a client.

Multi-TripIt took six months to settle my travel claim which was lodged on 29th March. We had to return early from an overseas trip because my mother was critically ill in hospital. Unable to contact them via phone (on hold for over two hours) and they never replied to emails. Only response I got was when I contacted them via Messenger. I sent all documentation that they requested sometimes three times because there were too many different claims officers handling the file and they didn't bother checking my emails or attachments. Only got the claim settled when I asked for a manager to review the claim. Would not recommend

Single TripVery good terms and conditions providing totally satisfactory protection for a reasonable premium and due to the current travel restrictions obtaining a quote for travel insurance is not easy and thus this is most satisfying. It is an extremely easy website to navigate.
