It most likely needs to be descaled/cleaned. Check instructions here to be sure https://www.delonghi.com/Global/InstructionManuals/EN/EN-Dedica-Pump-Espresso-EC680-im.pdf

Hello everybody.
I have Delonghi EC685. After using the steamer option for milk, I press on of the first two buttons for coffee, and the machine gets stuck. The first two buttons start constantly flashing three times in white light, and I am unable to make coffee. Only thing I can do is to restart the machine.
Any help is welcome.
Thanks

Hi Georgi,

Restarting the machine after frothing to extract coffee is normal.

While frothing, the thermoblocks temperature is rasied and shut down is needed to lower the temperature.

Luís F

Dont turn it on and off !!! the buttons are flashing because the machine is too hot for brewing, after using the steamer (and with the vapor button unselected ) just open the steam valve, to purge it, cold water will enter the coil and cool the machine, those lights will stop blinking and u can brew once more :D

Hi everyone, I just bought this machine last week and I have problems frothing the milk. It produces large bubbles and I've already tried to remove the pannarello wand as suggested in previous posts but when I start to froth the milk, the rubber thing that froths the milk pops out! My machine is just new so I know it doesn't need to be descaled. Any suggestions on how to solve this? Has this happened to anyone?

What does it mean when the yellow light is constantly flashing on steam button when processing coffee? Have descaled a couple of times?

Had the same issue. I resolved it by accessing the temp settings menu and setting the temp to medium.

Hi Bruce,

You can remove it by rotating it clockwise and the pulling down/towards you.

Try to find a good video on it.

The brew does not flow in a continuous stream as earlier. The brew comes out in droplets. earlier the brew used to come out in a few drops initially and a steady stream till the end. Now a few drops come out a steady stream for a short while and in drops for some time and the brewing stops. Any ideas?

This is a beautiful machine in the outside design that is seriously flawed in its performance. After our 3rd Delonghi we are done. We descaled the dedica, and still no flow. We returned it and are done with Delonghi.

Hi Guys, I have just purchase this coffee machine. As this is my first ever, I am not sure whether it is meant to make this loud noise? When preparing coffee it has a loud "vibrating/shaking" sound before it starts pouring, when it starts pouring the sound is different and slightly less noisy. Advice?

Hi Sigita - that sounds just like my machine. I think that is quite normal.

An espresso machine puts a little water down into the coffee. It pauses and then begins the process. Very normal

Just purchased a Delonghi Dedica Deluxe EC685. I have the impression (in comparison to other machines) that the cup warmer gets hardly warm. How warm should it get and how long should it take for it to warm up?

3 answers

Mine seems to take an age to warm up, so I don't really bother with it. My machine is permanently in standby, so when I want to make coffee I press the round "cup" button on the top, which for the lights to go steady, then pull the shot. Then I froth the milk, pour and enjoy my coffee. The machine switches itse;f back to standby after a few minutes.

SHAI
SHAI

Correct, the cup warmer takes forever. To compensate for this shortcoming I chafed the setting of temp. to HIGH

Get cup. Press the double esp button without coffee ie just water. Repeat this process & leave to the side. Now you can make your coffee and empty your hot water from the cup which is warm. Magic

I've had my DeLongi ECAM23.450 for 7years now and I never had a problem with descaling the machine. Now the message to descale keeps appearing on the display screen? Even after doing a descale, any help?

I got the same problem even I took it to service and he said nothing wrong. The machine keep descaling and make so much noise when water is nearly empty. But now there is no rising anymore, only descaling. I really need the answer as well.

Make sure you have pressed the 3rd butt for steam and turned the round knob onto steam side of machine

Also ensure you go up and down whilst keeping nozzle in jar to get a good creamy froth

Once you have pressed the steam button wait untill the light has stopped flashing before turning the steamer knob

Does coffee from delongi dedica have got a good golden creama on the surface?

1 answer
Amusoman
Amusoman

It does but remember it uses the standard 5 to 7 gram grind fill so at first I was disappointed because I was comparing the crema to what we were getting with our old Sunbeam Cafe Series. The Sunbeam has massive baskets and of course cafes often do fills of fourteen and even above 20 to make coffee. But yes if you get the pour right you will get quite a good crema.

My light for descaling stayed on too after we descaled it 3 times. Now it has stopped pouring coffee. It comes out in dribbles. I did the water hardness trick too but it still isn't working properly. Any ideas?

Hi Libpac, I must say I was a bit put off the Delonghi Dedica due to a number of reviewers mentioning issues with the descaling function. I had a Sunbeam Cafe Series that lasted ten years that I never once descaled!! As I have had the Dedica for a few weeks I can not advise you at all about the descaling other than read the instructions carefully (which you probably have done already). The only other thing I can remind you of is that the Dedica (and other machines) can be very fussy regarding overfilling, over tamping and too fine a grind. You probably are doing it right....but just in case...I have our grinder just a bit finer than the coarse setting...I fill the basket to the top with loose grind, level off and gently tamp down so that I have about 5mm of clear space in the basket from the top. In the first week I was putting too much and too fine a grind and tamped too hard. and it either would not come through at all or just dribbled. If in doubt...if you have accurate kitchen scales use 7 grams for the single cup and around 10 - 12 for the double.. The Dedica does not take much coffee! Hope that helps! let me know how you go...because I will probably hit the same problem too! Regards Bernard

Just bought the Dedica but the two cup filter has no holes in it so how could it work?

2 answers
AARON C

The holes are SUPER fine they look like nothing more than tiny dots in the bottom of the basket. Give it a go. If there are no holes the pressure will be too high no water will be released and you can just take it back for refund

Thanks but there were actually no holes at all!

Most likely it needs to be de scaled. Check out the manual and you will find instructions

AARON C
AARON C

Have a look on youtube there is a sequence that needs to be followed. Specifically the end of the de-scale. Needs to be shutdown correctly or the de-scale light will continue

Press the button again. Or if you want a "flat white coffee" place under the milk frother (dont press the froth button) just turn the froth handle and it will provide hot water
