A well Made Australian manufactured unit that has proved reliable and durable
My previous system was a similar size Dux off peak and was installed when the house was built in early 2001. I never had a problem with it but in the last 6 months I noticed my off peak water electricity bill had more than double, I was getting very low pressure and flow rates and was getting brown water from the hot water taps especially at night when the off peak system was operating. nfidence in Dux, it was manufactured in Australia and it would fit the same footprint without any complications. I now have a flow rate of 6.3 lpm up from 4 lpm, the water is hot rather than warm and of course, no sediment etc. It is early days of course but I am happy with the product so far and expect my off peak bill to return to the previous figures.1 comment

Split tank
I'm a plumber of 30 years and have installed 1000s of hotties. Starting to see a trend now of dux splitting within warranty period. Now it's happened to my own heater. And dux won't replace because I didn't put a temp valve on. Tell me how that will stop a tank splitting.

Very happy with the service.
Very happy with the service. It was to replaced the origin hot water system installed 34 years ago. Nothing was too much trouble. Nice to enjoy hot water again and now that will have hot water all the time.

The Dux is a good size for our family of four.
Our first home we built in 1967,we installed a Dux . It was a square box that fitted neatly under the house. It worked perfectly .
We are now in our eight home and still using DUX. The second one through Bunnings.

Full install awesome unit .Not an issue so far so extremely happy with it. Would recommend this to everyone. No issues with temp setting, but as on a farm house is not in high demand as much as city life

Hot water again!
Hot water system packed in and Bunnings managed to arrange next day installation, even though it was a Saturday. It all went very smoothly, installer was a nice guy who explained everything and I am very happy with the new system, hopefully I will get many years of hot water out of it.

I have the 170L version and its fine for 19 years. just once needed new thermocouple.
I have the 170L version and it has lasted 19 years. I had to replace the thermocouple once and it cost me a whopping 60 dollars from Reece on westwood drive postcode 3023. I'm happy with the heater since then, it hasn't missed a beat. I now know that the same thermocouple can be bought at bunnings for around 20 dollars 2 years later on. So I will not be returning to reece, or I'll at least check elsewhere first. These units are great but the cost of GAS in victoria makes them uneconomical for less than a full family size usage.

ctuation has been not a problem but I do use low flow shower heads (9L/min). having washing machine filling up and filling the kettle from the kitchen and say having a shower, would show a reduction in the flow and water temp change but that's a factor of the mains pressure as much as the heating ability. These homes have a temperature restrictor which mixes in cold water and that can extend the unit's store because only so much water can fit through the pipe and if cold is always mixed in... the hot water from this unit lasts longer. Want piping hot water, boil a kette, 55deg Celcius is fine for shower etc.1 comment

Good value and service.
We had a old hot water unit located in a cupboard in the house which started to leak, I contacted the local Bunnings and arranged to have a new system relocated to the outside of the house this was all done very quickly.I was very impressed with the ease of the whole process it was stress free, everything organised like clockwork and hot water for the weekend.

Super Fast service
Old Dux water heater sprung a leak overnight, at least 15 years of faithful service, rang Bunnings Glendale at 8.30 AM friday morning, had a new one installed by 11.30 AM that same morning, no cold water for the weekend, how's that for prompt service.Kept with the same brand as its been a wonderful product, very reliable.

It is perfect, and can't live without it

Good value great system
The new Dux 250T1 (250L) hot water unit replaced our leaking hot water unit that had no tempering valve. I no longer get burnt by the hot water. I am happy with the new Dux. Bunnings arranged everything and the job was done in good time and very professionally and with less cost than if I had arranged my own plumber to install a different system. Looking forward to many years of trouble free hot water. Thanks Dux.

Very efficient, hot water just right temperature.
Over the years we have had Dux hot water units both indoor and out and have not had any trouble till they reached their life expectancy in one case 15 years plus.

Poor quality - broken in 4 years
This is second Dux tank we have, first one got from previous owner and broken in 5 and half year, we brought the same mode again, thought we might just not be lucky and Dux was very well known brand and should be a trusted one, however, the second one just broken in less than 5 years, called Dux and was told it's not within warranty as it's not leaking!! parts only have 1 year warranty!
So eventually called the Service they provided and found both thermostat and heater element were broken -costed us $380 to replace these two.
This is definitely a very disappointing experience with Dux, you pay a thousand dollars, you don't expect it's only working in 4 years, and repair cost is absolutely a Ripper too.

We have just had a plumber replace our hot water tank they transferred the solar pump from off the side of the old tank onto the new tank and connected the solar collector pipes from the roof panels as per the pervious set up but now we are experiencing thermal cycling of the hot water once the sun goes down we have extended the loop on the return pipe from the roof and this work for a few days but now the issues has started again. This is the second time we have just replaced the tank and we did have this issue with the original tank or the first new tank. To explain the issue it is currently 6:30 pm out temp is 16 deg C roof collector temp is 45C and tank temp is 51deg C. Any ideas?

Thanks for raising your question.
The heater should never be switched on or off manually to save electricity. There is a risk of Legionella Bacteria growing in the stored water.
The heater will not have power available for enough to heat the entire body of water to 60 Deg C, which is the requirements under AS3498 to sanitise the water.
Please talk to your energy provider about possible tariff connection changes.
