Hi Annie...yes, I am with you on that one. That is what I am finding too, the dirt/dust collects at the back part of the unit instead of going to bottom part of the barrel and I too am finding that I am emptying after every single vacuum because if i don't the suction power is significantly decreased and its funny because the company advertise that the suction will never lose its power...yes it does, just after vacuuming one room. We live in a house of 2 families...my parents and my husband and myself. I vacuum our part of the house which is our bedroom and ensuite and just doing that the vacuum loses suction. I am with you, I actually want my money back...sorry but Dyson is not all they claim it to be. I am very disappointed. I have yet to contact them directly once I get the chance to.

Hi all,

When dust enters the bin, it is spun out of the airflow. At the bottom of the dust bin, there are baffles to catch the dirt/hair/fluff and keep it down. If it weren't going to be caught, these would keep spinning and negatively affect the performance of the machine.

The way your dust bin fills depends on some factors, primarily the type of dust and dirt, and also the speed in which the particles enter the dust bin. If the majority of your debris is smaller, such as dust particles, sand, grit, etc.like, it is more likely to evenly fill the bin bottom to top (think like a glass held unevenly under the tap).

If more carpet fibres, hairs threads, etc. are sucked through the machine, the fibres can catch onto each other as they spin through the dust bin. The baffles at the bottom will catch them, and they will tend to bundle together and build up and out from the one spot.

If you'd like to discuss this further, please email [email protected] or call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 8pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

Annie, I am not sure about the Absolute as I was reviewing the Allergy...I am not sure if the barrels are the same and its only the attachments that make them different. Hi Kathy,

Thank you for your query.

When dust enters the bin, it is spun out of the airflow. At the bottom of the dust bin, there are plastic baffles to catch the dirt/hair/fluff and keep it down. If it weren't going to be caught, these would keep spinning and negatively affect the performance of the machine.

Hi Julie here I cannot say whether my Dyson big Ball would do this as I have not had such a problem as I have an older wool 85%nyon15% mix if I remember rightly but to see how well this DYSON collects up my beautiful fluffy cat fur and of course any garden fodder he brings in having sat in the garden bed for some time. I can however recommend the

I cannot say directly onlythat I am extremely delighted with my Dysonbigball and as I have a physical disability now due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Early Onset Parkinson's disease I find this product with all of the attachments great.

Hi John,

Thank you for your query. Any Dyson machine should be able to help with picking up fibres being shed from the carpet. However, a machine with a spinning brush bar will work more efficiently for this purpose.

I would encourage you to email [email protected], and we'll be happy to find t he right Cinetic Big Ball machine for you.

Hi Meika,

Thank you for your query.

Any debris too big to fit under the turbine head of your Cinetic Big Ball Allergy may be pushed along.

If you have a large area of tiles, I would recommend considering purchasing the Swivel Hard Floor Tool. This part is designed specifically for cleaning hard floors and can be purchased by calling our helpline on 1800 239 766 with your machine handy. NO No need to return my great DYSON product and have had this BigBall Vacuum cleaner since October 2016- it is used by myself and the lady who spends Wednesday of each week assisting me in any manner, shape or form. This grand lady gives my home that really big vacumm for the week and it is sometimes not really necessary to vacuum each week. This depends on how much garden THE BOSS (the cat) brings in from the garden as he is. Beautiful long haired cat and even though he sits on a bathmat I spread over the front garden bed he can at times find that extra to bring in. I have had absolutely no problems with DYSON in this regard and stand by my review.

Cinetic Big Ball Multi Floor

What is the main difference between the Multi Floor and the Allergy (which has been reduced by $100 RRP)? Is it the heads supplied? Please explain the advantages and disadvantages of the different attachments.

2 answers
Googht

The Allergy comes with the Turbine floor head that has a built in rotating brush for lifting stubborn dirt from carpet. The Multi Floor head is just an ordinary head similar to the standard head you get with ordinary vacuum cleaners. The Allergy cleaner comes with an extra accessory for vacuuming the mattress. I would personally go with the Allergy. You are getting more for your money (after the discount).

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi there,

Thanks for your question.

Apart from the colour, the difference comes down to the accessories and floor tools that come with the machines.

The Cinetic Big Ball Multifloor has a flat style auto adjusting rectangular head suited to both hard floors and carpets, whereas the Allergy comes with a spinning Turbine head which excels at picking up both on hard floor and carpets and picks up fine dust and hair. The Turbine heads have the best pick up performance.

The Cinetic Big Ball Allergy also comes with a mattress tool to assist with removing dust mites.

Hi Sherri,

If you're looking for a vacuum to clean houses for business purposes, then avoid the Dyson Bigball Cinetic Allergy.

I used Pullman vacuums to clean pubs and nightclubs many years ago and the Dyson Bigball I purchased struggles in my house and I would most likely end up throwing it out of a 6th floor window if I had to use it to clean houses as a cleaner!

Cinetic Big Ball Allergy

Hi everyone,

I have been tossing up whether to buy a Dyson for a while now. More specifically the cinetic allergy version. After reading the reviews, it seems the earlier versions were better and the new Dyson is more prone to faults. Can anyone recommend a good vacuum for pet hair? I don't want to spend $800-$900 on a new vac if it is going to break in a few weeks or months even. I'm looking for a reliable machine that will stand the test of time.

The last great Dyson is actually the DC29. User replaceable pre filter and post motor filter (HEPA). both filters can be ordered online from Dyson or eBay or Aliexpress (China).

The newer ones like the DC37C onwards hides the HEPA filter in the ball, and takes a lot of patience and special tools to open it up. And the ones without filters like the DC54 is also an asswipe, because the cyclones are not effective at keeping dust and dirt out from the motor clogging up the hidden HEPA filter suffocating the motor and hence motor burnouts.

In the end if u want a Dyson the DC29 is the one to buy. Although instruction manuals doesn't tell u how to get to the HEPA filter, many Youtube videos will happily show u how and its easy to replace too.

Hi Mark,

I am in the same position as you are.

My Dyson Bigball Cinetic Allergy vacuum doesn't appear faulty, it just turned out to be $760 dollars worth of disappointment.

There was a 30 day money back guarantee available for a while but now your only option is to sell it on Gumtree or eBay or send it in for repair - which doesn't really help when you regret the Dyson purchase because your 10 year old vacuum still does a better job.

Good luck.

Dyson
Dyson Team ..Dyson

Hi Djapa0,

Thanks for reaching out with your question on Product Review.

The issue you have described is not a design fault and is perhaps an isolated issue. The Cinetic Big Ball and Small Ball are also two completely different designs, the Big Ball being a barrel design and Small Ball being an upright design. The Small Ball is also compact and light weight in design, meaning that the bin capacity and motor size are smaller in design than that of a full size upright machine and for this reason we are unable to compare the two.

If you would like to discuss this together further please don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] for more information.

Clare
Clare

I don't believe this is an isolated issue. I have seen reference to it multiple times (in fact I counted 9 reviews on this site which mention it) and I have the same issue myself. The catch is flimsy and poorly placed. As soon as you empty the bin, dirt particles become lodged in the rubber seal and make it tricky to close and latch properly. I would definitely say its a design fault; I even took mine back to the store to discuss with the Dyson rep (and the Electrolux rep as it happened) and they both had to agree that it was not the most intelligent design
