Why is internode such bad service?
4 answers
Simple answer: it's not.
Because they have bad reputation and hopeless company.
After several years of excellent ADSL service, I changed over to NBN in July with excellent, reliable service until October. From then service outages of 1/4 to a full day occur a increasingly shorter intervals until now at a week apart.
The service is down again for the second day.
Troubleshooting appears to indicate that the service is connected but there is no data content ie, no water coming out of a hose when it is connected and the tap is turned off.
Disappointing after long reliable service.

Currently with Optus and looking to switch providers, mostly considering Internode. I was wondering if this would be a good idea? I live in the Bendigo area. Good ping and download speeds are a must. Thanks for any replies.

I personally wouldn't recommend them due to my experiences with them. If you feel they are a good option by all means try but I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
I would think if your going to change the best option would be to go with Telstra .. Otherwise stick with what you got .. :)

Hi,
I am moving to Basshill (Near Yagoona, Bankstown etc), and am new to Australia, I was going to order optus cable internet, but reviews here have scared me, my other options are iNternode naked ADSL, or TPG ADSL+. is there any one here from the area who can guide as to which would be a better choice? The house is just accross hume highway opposite basshill shopping plaza.
Any guidance would be highly appreciated

Hi Qazi,
I've been with Internode for over 8 years and highly recommend them. You can bundle your home phone line and internet (ADSL) together with Internode for an excellent price. They are based in South Australia and have a great website for you to log into. It keeps you up to date with your account and credentials while providing you with free worldwide radio stations and other benefits. TPG appear to be cheap but make sure you read the fine print. You are given the option to waiver the 'customer service guarantee'. This means if you have a problem with your connection you have to accept it or pay extra to have a technician fix the issue. From memory (but check their website) the extra amount for customer service guarantee is $500. Good luck if anyone can afford that. I don't have any experience with Optus so can't answer that part of the question. Hope this helped.
Thanks Damo, appreciate the feedback

I am living in SE Melbourne, anybody can advise about the internet speed of this company?

Appreciated any response!

Hello John
I have been with Internode for a number of years and recently their service has become unbearable. It takes weeks to get a response to problems and the I can no longer play World of Warcraft on their service. I have a 50/20 NBN plan currently and will be leaving this mob as soon as my contract expires. NOT recommended!!

I live in the Adelaide CBD and have had Internode naked broadband for about 9 months. I haven't really had much trouble until the last couple of weeks. Now I am getting connection dropouts several times a day, which interferes with the work I'm doing. If I restart my computer it fixes the problem, and I go from "low" connection back to "excellent" (according to the pop-up message) but having to do that three or four times a day is a pain. Is anyone else currently experiencing something similar? It's ironic that I live just around the corner from Internode!

Hi Jiriji
I have had NO Phone at all for at least a week and my internet drops out all day, at least every couple of minutes. This issue has been going on now for over 3 weeks. Internode are useless, worst isp in Australia for customer service.
Hi Jiriji,
I have had no trouble with Internode to date but only became a customer as from 27th February 2015. I was initially not over impressed with download speeds. I downloaded a file for about 2.4 Gigabytes that took 35 minutes to download. Have since logged on to Internode Website and changed the Profile initially allocated to me. I selected ADSL2+ Very High Speed. The Website says this Profile only suited to stable telephone lines and best you are close to the Telephone Exchange. At least on second point I beleive I am less than 0.5 kilometre from Exchange. In case you do not know Profiles are located under Services. There are numerous profiles ranging from fast but less stable to slower but more stable. I will not be able to fully test download speeds until I am presented with another very large file for download. However I did download a film for 7.0 Gigabytes from Foxtel since chanigng the Profile and that download only took 3 minutes

Thanks for the idea, Barry1945, but unfortunately I don't have a fixed phone line, which is why I have to use naked broadband. Today I have not had any problems - touch wood. I know it probably doesn't make sense but when this drop-out problem is at its worst is when there are garbage trucks or other large vehicles operating next to my building. I suppose it's just a coincidence.

I'm totally confused. I'm with Telstra for everything, yet I can no longer afford their services. What to do next (for broadband, landline, cell phone, in short, the works!)? Regards, Zoe

Hi there Zas, I would ring a few ISP's & go for a bundled package. It depends what area you are in, in OZ as some parts of your package, ie your mobile, might not have service with another Telco. I know how expensive it is as I am in the same boat as yourself. Thinking of switching my Landline to Internode as they are my ISP and are excellent. They can't provide mobile coverage in my area though unfortunately. But: LL combined with ISP still comes in cheaper than Telstra having my landline.
Good Luck...We need it..
Kind Regards,

Something to keep in mind with mobiles is that Boost Telecom and Aldi both provide prepaid services on the Telstra network. These plans are significantly cheaper than Telstra for the same sort of plan. As of April 2014 Boost offer a unlimited calls and 2 GB of data for about $40 per month. Even the Telstra prepaid plans are competitive with their contract plans and far more flexible. The only thing you get on a contract is a subsidised handset, keep your current handset or buy it outfight and your plan choices open up dramatically.

I'm looking at getting wireless/mobile internet with internode and wondered how good this would be for Tapping 6065 (w.a.) ?
1 answer
Hi carlj, Always a problem I know. I had to take my Laptop interstate -ACT- while caring for my mother. I was only 2Kms from the Tower. I rang my ISP -Internode -& they sent me a wireless stick, arrived the next day. Still wouldn't work so they sent another, no joy. With that, for no added cost, they sent me an aerial that is just a little doover that sits on the table. Whala!! Worked absolutely fine. I can recommend you ring them because they will give you a 'YES' or 'NO' answer as to whether it will or won't work in your area. I would ring Tech Support and ask the Superheros there. 136633 > Tech Support.
I want my mobile phone with them but I am stuck on Telstra because of where I am. Even though I only have service once a week at the outside, Internode cannot guarantee I will have service with them so they won't sell it to me. At least they are honest.
Hope you have luck. Regards Snowflake1

Can I retain my email address [email protected] if I change to Internode.
4 answers
Hi, whilst Internode do provide up to five email addresses depending upon which plan you select you are not obligated to replace your existing web-based account such as gmail. I have retained my web-based account. The benefit of a web-based email such as gmail, yahoo mail, hotmail etc is that you can access it anywhere, at anytime, and upyou aren't tied to an ISP (internet service provider).
I hope this answers your question.
Regards.
Thanks Carl thanks for your answer but can I use peterm4746@gmail .com or will I have to [email protected]. as my address
I hope that is not a dumb question for an excellent answer?
regards. English Pete.
You can use your [email protected]. You can have all Internode correspondence (e.g., bills, receipts, etc.) sent to that address. But, you will still be issued an @internode.on.au account, but there's no obligation to use it whatsoever.
