When it works it's good, when it doesn't it's bad
So glad we got an extended warranty. In 5 years it has just gone in to be repaired for the 6th time for the same problem. Just stops grinding. When it works makes a beautiful coffee but we must of got a lemon.
Jura J9 review
The coffee maker is really cool! The article https://milkfrothertop.com/jura-j9-review/ inspired me to buy. The coffee drinks are really delicious. The only negative for me - is not suitable for small countertops.
Don't trust Jura!
My J6 is 5 mths old. I was woken in the night with a noise like an alarm to find the coffee grinder running. It was probably on for hours and had ground all my organic coffee and the machine was burning hot. It could not be turned off except by unplugging the machine. Jura had it sent to a repair agent who said it was caused by a cockroach and it was common. Jura sent a bill for over $500 with a couple of photos: a burnt board with no details and a burnt housing showing the machine was 21/2 yrs old. There was no detail to prove that it was my m...achine so it could be a ruse. The Jura "offer" was to sell me a new machine at a discount. Going to the Authorities as the burning probably would have started a fire very soon had we not been at home. Jura will not back their claim of the $300 rebuild or the stated warrantee of 25mths. DON'T BUY JURA !!!!
Can't get it serviced in Sydney
After a recent cleaning cycle the coffee went to the grounds receptacle. I have been advised that I have to get it to Newcastle & back to Manly (Sydney) .....If that had been the case when I bought it, I never would have bought it. Most other machines can be repaired locally or the company provides a free pick up & delivery service. I will never buy another Jura product again.
Fantastic and reliable
We have had this machine for a little while now and I am a big coffee drinker (25-30 shots of coffee per day) and cannot speak highly enough of the machine.
No machine is perfect but the Pros for the Jura machine far outweighs the cons.
The quality of coffee is always determined by the quality of beans you use. That said the quality of coffee that comes out of this machine when using good beans is as good as any high end cafe. The machine is fast and while the setting up of presets can be a little time consuming initially, once done it...
Love it! Couldn't live without it
Great product, all in one machine. Easy to use, start up is quick, love that it grinds beans, very easy to clean. Small enough to comfortably sit on the kitchen bench. Easy to preset own preferences. Only compliant would be that it doesn't heat as hot as I would like but that's no big deal. Absolutely love the machine, is saving us heaps of money on our daily coffee.
Excellent machine. Great Value for money.
I felt that I needed to write this review after reading some of the negative ones and just shaking my head in amazement and wondering what planet these people are living on! I have owned Jura machines for about 10 years now since I first purchased a used Z5 on ebay. I did a lot of research before my purchase and Jura was the machine consistently recommended. So, at the time I couldn't afford a new one and decided to buy a used one. The old Z5 is no longer but now I own a J9.3 and a J6. I bought the J9.3 about 2 years ago and am very happy with ...it. The quality of the brew and milk froth is amazing. The colour display is a good size and can be customized. If people say that these machine can't make a good coffee I would suggest looking at the beans you use. Milk froth for cappuccinos is perfect. Yes, the temperature is not scalding hot, but I don't know many people who like to burn their mouth every time they have a coffee. The machine is super easy to clean and maintain, you don't need a university degree! Overall, the J9.3 is a stylish and well designed machine, which if looked after properly, will give you years of great coffee.
Making Froth is a matter of luck
I can not understand why Jura is having such a clumsy milk Froth system! To get a dissent foth almost impossible, more failure than success! Stupid no name 1/4 price espresso machines will much better. I think it is a shame to Jura to sell such machines. I hope somebody at your organisation will redesign the Milk Frothing unit!
How to get the coffee you want
Imediately after using, clean milk system (P button) clean water will suffice, cleaning agent every 2nd or 3rd day. Each day before 1st cup remove rubber piece on milk frothing unit (on top just behind dial). Rinse in warm water squeezing tip (if this tip is not clean your coffee will come out cold & flat).lastly sit milk container on a stand between 12cm to15cm high. Since using this method I have great coffee every time. I have two machines early J9-3 (nearly two & half years old) plus later model one year old I keep at my friends place. Enjoy your coffee
Purchased 11 years ago, never let us down. Great coffee, easy to use & cleaning is very simple
Handles a crowd quite well. I found customer service very good when it came up with an "error" and it was a minor problem.(just had to unplug and plug back in and was OK. Milk frothier also works great.
Hope if it ever dies we can replace it with one as good. Cheers
J9.3 is a Great Machine. My second Jura unit
This is my second Jura unit. I upgraded from a Micro Ena 1. This J9.3 is on a whole different level. The coffee is strong tasting and It can sure take a workout. I do find the milk a tad warm and not boiling hot. However I believe a lot to heat is lost through a cold cup. I place my cup in the microwave for 20 seconds to warm it up prior to frothing milk. My J9.3 is up to 1500 count and touch wood has been fault free. A quality machine.
Jura is not worth the trouble
I got a Jura J90 for Christmas 2017. My biggest complaint is the customer service I received from Jura themselves. I ordered two small cleaning products, less than a pound total weight. The only option I was given for shipping cost $20. When I researched this shipping option through fedex, it only costs $10. It has been 11 days and the package still has not arrived. The Jura people themselves are incredibly rude and unhelpful. My wife spent $2,300 on this machine so to be treated like this off the bat is ridiculous. Also, as noted in ot...her reviews, the milk does not get hot. Not even close. It is luke at best. I don't mind this as much but for my wife who loves her lattes extra hot, this machine falls way short. Put all this together and there are better options for you money out there.
Disappointing in so many ways
Well I don't think I have to comment on the temperature of the coffee, never hot, just warm. We resort to pre heating the cups to very hot with boiling water before making a coffee. And it does run out of water half way through making a coffee and the adjuster for the grind is just plain nasty, agricultural would be kind. We purchased with a extra 3 year warranty which ran out just before it packed up. Jura were very helpful with a complete overhaul of mechanicals for $290 Australian dollars, we took it to their authorised dealer. They guarante...ed to have it repaired and ready for collection within a week. One week two days later, I rang $760 for a new display only and the repair was void because there had been vermin in the machine. I explained nothing was wrong with the display and it was there as discussed because the grinder was spinning but not grinding. I collected the machine rang Jura with a complaint and bought a special key online to be able to remove the special screws that are there to prevent access. Pulling the thing apart was not a 5 minute exercise. The brewer group was filthy with jammed up coffee, and very difficult to move. A full strip down and clean solved that issue. Cockroaches, flys and a gecko had been running around and defecating inside, the sensitive parts such as wiring were fine and all the circuit boards were pristine. But to be honest for 5 years in Australia it was not that bad. But the worry for me, we have been drinking the coffee in a environment where insects and small Animals had been crapping. And how could you design a machine with huge openings allowing these insects and Animals to enter the machine with no barriers or preventative measures to stop this at all, I think a health risk? Back to the grinder, definitely a disconnect between the gearbox and motor. As it was definitely faulty I proceeded to rip it apart to determine the fault. The fault was in my view inevitable, guaranteed to fail, the gearbox has about a 45 to 1 turn down ratio, achieved by multiple layers of gears packaged in a injection moulded gear box. This gearbox has gear teeth moulded around the circumference of the internal sections upon which layers of plastic gears rotate. Three plastic gears rotate on the primary gear on the end of the motor, all 3 of these gears had stripped their teeth. Just not up to the job and I would have thought for the price we might see some steel gearing and a sheer pin in the event of a foreign body in a coffee bag jamming the grinding mechanism. Do I buy the motor and gearbox or is this machine at the end of its designed life. The term throwing money at it, is this trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. A decision to be made.
Can’t live without it
It makes perfect cappuccino, flat white - haven’t tried other fancy coffees yet. Taste just like cafe coffee made by a barista.
Easy maintanance - it cleans itself when needed and instructions for making coffee and cleaning is so easy - just follow the instruction on the digital screen.
It’s a very price coffee machine but worth every cent.
Love Love Love it!
Bought 11 months ago and feel in love with how easy it was to use. The front screen was faulty and the customer service we received was fantastic! Machine was back to us within 7 days with a new screen.
We are an extremely busy family of 6 and this machine has made life so much easier. We could never go back to what we had prior.
Love my coffee machine, so easy to use, with a touch of a button my steaming hot coffee is ready for me. Like always it does come down to the coffee you purchase to you but we make sure we always have one we like. The only complaint i seem to have is when its my turn to make the coffee, the water needs filling, the beans need filling, the container needs emptying.
Jura Impressa J9.3 - 6 Months in and Loving it
Purchased this machine 6 months ago. Also purchased the cup warmer (as an additional indulgence). I am not a big coffee drinker, maybe 2 cups a day, but I do love good coffee. This machine does not disappoint, regular coffee, expresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato - all are wonderful with enjoyment derived from every sip. With regard to the ongoing issues I've read concerning cold to warm coffee. On any "straight" coffee setting, this machine delivers a hot cup of coffee, I have not experienced any issues there. With the milk based coffees..., I've noticed the first is warm to hot. I call this my "drink right away" coffee - which suits me in the morning when I am in a rush. I make another for my travel mug for the drive to work, and the second is quite hot. Friends and family could to believe I would spend this kind of money on a coffee machine, but when they come to visit, I spend most of my time making coffee for them - they tell me I make the best coffee they have ever had. It took me about a week to fiddle with the grind settings - it now is perfect and I have not changed it. I've used the pre-ground setting and same results as the grinder setting - a great cup of coffee. Cleaning and maintenance do not take much of my time, I follow the Jura's instructions (and use the filter option) and the machine is running like the the fist day I took it out of the box. All in all I am a fan of this machine - I do admit, it has spoiled me for coffee, as when I get one elsewhere, I can barely drink it.
Just bought one and it is absolutely fantastic. Makes better coffee than anywhere I have tasted. You must have a dud. t took me about 1 week to set it to my liking and now it works like clockwork. I warm the cups before making the coffee which is the recommended way anyway.
I expect far more from a $3000 machine
Soooo disappointed with this J9 coffee machine.
My first issues started 3 years ago when the water tank ran out of water for the first time. Hang on, how is that possible with a $3000 machine you ask, surely it warns you before it runs out? Nope, it just runs out mid coffee!
Then, that little CHEAP plastic adjuster for the grind just never felt right. Yep, only ever adjusted it as per the user guide, whilst it's griding. But I can tell you, it feels like it's broken from day 1.
And the number of times i've had to clean coffee splatte...r from the front of the machine and my kitchen bench is more than I can count. Now for the biggey! I ran a clen over the weekend with the pricey Jura cleaning tablets as recommended and as I've done every time since I bought the machine and now, the machine produces watery coffee. I fact the grinder just doesn't sound right. I thought, maybe I'll try to adjust the grind (yes yes, while it's grinding). Guess what? That adjuster is jammed and won't budge. I have no idea what to do! $3000 every 3 years is not good enough!
waste of a lot of money
totally useless I wonder why it was dis- continued
coffee is just cold
should not have to put it in a microwave to heat up
company less than helpfull
the company does not appear interested in accepting any responsibility
for this machines failure
I have asked them what temperature coffee should come out at from the machine so far they have not bothered to inform me
Questions & Answers
I wonder if any of you guys noticed that, when Jura is brewing espresso, it spits out water first before coffee?
Hi William, does it doing when it first rinses as well?
JURA Support team
I have had my J5 for a few years now and love it, recently when making coffee the water doesn’t go through the coffee it goes straight to the drip tray, is there a simple fix for this
I have a Jura J9 Impressa. When the machine needs cleaning, I enter the cleaning cycle as usual, but it automatically goes to expert mode. If I go back and enter the cleaning mode, and remove the drip tray, it won't recognize when I put the tray back in. However, when not in the cleaning mode, it has no problem recognizing the drip tray when I return it to place after emptying the grounds. Although I can make coffee, I now can't clean the machine. Any help?
