A great choice in 55 size TVs. Super UHD picture quality, Voice Control Remote option, beautiful design, Netflix key on remote and wifi connectivity are some of the main features to enjoy with.
Purchased in December 2018 at Harvey Norman for $1,200.

With an old Hitachi 55" plasma panel that wouldn't die after 13 years, but had lost a bit of picture quality, I agonizing over whether I could justify buying a new LED 4K TV. I researched for months and satisfied myself LG was the way to go. When this model was reduced at the Good Guys back in September 2018 I made my move. It is, I suppose, the "Goldilocks" model, being between the basic and the OLED. But I recall, in all my readings, that I became convinced the picture quality would be so good that I really didnt need to spend the considerab...
Read morele difference on an OLED model. I'm sure there was mention, somewhere among all the talk, that the quality of the 'black' was one of the things that the inclusion of the word 'super' was all about. To a large extent I have been happy with the image and at that time I hadn't seen any negative points raised in reviews like the ones that now appear on this site, those reviews having been written this year. The issue is what one reviewer called 'banding'. That is a brighter grey vertical lighting of the screen wherever a light area, such as car headlights, a campfire or such is in an otherwise black background. It is almost as if a spotlight is shining down from directly above that the person or item. You might wonder why it has taken me until now to write this review. The thing is I didn't really notice it at first, but when I did the rest of the family told me it had always been there! From then on I figured it could be fixed in settings or with better cabling, a new antennae or even, if necessary, it would surely be a warranty issue. It all depends on what you are watching and I reckon I must have mostly watched bright, daylight or well lit movies at first. In some 4K Netflix movies, with the picture mode on 'vivid' the result is stunning, almost off-putting. That 'documentary' effect I have heard off, where it is so clear and real that the escapism of a movie is almost lost because it is too real. But then watch a movie that involves a lot of darkness (think most of the end of world, escape the earth type movies) and the problem is aggravating and very disappointing. Areas that should be totally black are, instead, distinctly grey, but only to a certain point, just slightly bigger than the illuminated spot. This occurs with both online and live TV. I recently contacted the LG help line and the consultant there was as helpful as he could be. I sent images of the screen ( in that case from 'Good Omens') and he had to consult and ring me back. His answer was that it was 'normal for my TV". He then lead me through a few setting changes to try to improve the situation but it was nowhere near successful. Finally he recommended the the Dimming setting be set to 'High". I later played around with my options and it was best turned 'Off". But it is still pretty bad. Having put in so much research and finally made the leap of faith into the world of 4K TV I can't help but wonder if I might just have well have bought a cheaper brand and not had this problem. I feel the issue is so pronounced it amounts to a defect and should be rectified at a manufacturer level or, at the least, made clear by sales staff. But I won't hold my breath on that one. It may not even be an issue on current model, I don't know. But if it still is it would seem that, at least as far as LG is concerned, you need to fork out for the OLED level. And that doesn't seem right.

A great budget TV that requires a bit of tuning out of the box. A little bit of fine tuning will get you a brilliant picture. I switched it to game mode and turned sharpness to 0. Dynamic contrast to low and dynamic colour to high. Colour gamut to wide. Super resolution is turned off. Gamma is medium.
I turned off everything under picture mode settings but left black level at high.
While it does advertise local dimming, I suggest turning it off to avoid the horrible banding that happens in dark images.

This is perfect TV i would say. Picture quality is good and SMART TV features are excellent. It supports 802.11 WIFI so online videos and games run faster. Highly recommended.

Know better, choose better.
Bought today from Binglee after trying uk6540 55’’ but i am glad to say UK7550 55’’ is perfect tv. No backlight bleeding, local dimming works perfect but not better than oled tvs so i usually turn it off. Metal finish on Tv looks great. Black looks real black even if local dimming is off. Easy to use. LOVE IT.

Be warned, this tv has very noticeable vertical light bands which become visible where there is a dark scene. It absolutely ruins the tv for me and viewing experience. Not something I expected to encounter in 2018. This is a known drawback for this model. Will be seeking a refund at JB Hifi where it was purchased.
