Medibank pet insurance is great!
Great pet insurance, I haven’t had an issue so far. Claims are super quick and easy to make. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for pet insurance. Previously had insurance with RSPCA which was always difficult when trying to make a claim.

Simply insulted by Medibank pet insurance...
I have been a customer since I have gotten my cat. It has been over 4 years... my cat got really sick recently, she had to go to visit vet for first time. Vet charged me about 450 dollars including consultation and all exams.... and Medibank did respond and redound me $10 dollars..... basically I wasted all of my money this 4 years in the past and premiums keep going up about 25 percent every year even though this was my first time to make a claim.... and $10? It is a joke. And it is really hard to claim to Medibank pet insurance. You still...Read more

Great experience with Medibank Pet insurance. Thanks to Rohan
I have to say I have recently had an exceptional customer service experience by the Medibank Pet insurance customer service officer Rohan Lobo. Disgruntled after a mixup with my insurance claims. I received a call from Rohan I was blown away with his empathy and professionalism. Excellent for pet insurance
I have had 2 of my dogs covered for over 7 years. All claims have been processed quickly and efficiently. The pet portal makes claiming easy and quick. Have now taken out insurance for my 3rd dog.
Only downside is that the call centre staff are very slow and keep you on the line for ever when I have an enquiry.

Over Priced, Poor Service, Terrible product
I have been a loyal pet insurance customer of yours for 4 years. In December 2018 I made my first claim- this was met with a call centre that couldn't understand the claim, declined the claim and then asked me to re-submit. I again resubmitted the claim just to have it declined as a duplicate. After pushing this further the claim was eventually paid. However this process took multiple phone calls and an online complaint over 5 weeks. After each phone call in I was advised someone would call back- they never did. After lodging the complaint 2 we...Read more

Price hike beyond inflation
I’d give Medibank a 0 if i could. Received a notice recently that my premiums are going up excessively cause my dog is now over 8 years old, even though i haven’t made a claim in years! this is particularly unfair as i need the cover now more than ever cause my dog is getting old! furthermore, this same email said i could keep paying my existing premium if i lowered my policy by 20%. in other words pay the same for 20% less. overall this company is greedy and has got possibly the worst service in history. so do i cancel my policy and risk being...Read more

Very disappointed
I have been with MedB Pet Ins. for 8 yrs., Silver Paw cover/benefit percentage 80%
I understand that insurances always increases their fees every year. However this year the increase will be a bit over 39%.
I find it very very cruel. Now that my dog is reaching 9 yrs old, ( no insurance will take new members when a dog reaches 9 yr) Med B increase it with the excuse that the dog is old. I did not made any major claims last year except for blood test. We are limited to $300 for vet visits per year. If we reached the $300 and happens that we n...Read more

Do not recommend. Absolute disgrace
Have been insured with Medibank for over 3 years, signing up when my dog was a puppy. I have not had to claim until recently when my dog cracked her tooth and needed it removed urgently.
The claim has been rejected despite paying over $50/ month and having Silver level cover. Oh, and we have not yet received an email or letter to inform us that the claim had been processed and what the outcome was. We had to check ourselves where the claim was at and were horrified to see it had been rejected.
What an absolute joke. This is a complete rort.

Premium Hike! Exorbitant
I have had my dog insured on Silver Paw with 80% benefit and excess of $100 since he was a puppy and he is now 7 years old. I pay annually and last year the premium was $904.12. I have just received my 2022 premium and it is $1285.75. How can an increase of nearly $400.00 be justified in one year? He had a few claims last year, but nothing to justify this. I am looking at my options

Getting Better
I complained bitterly to Medibank Pet about the previous method of lodging claims online. It was illogical, cumbersome and difficult to use, I found it extremely frustrating.
Happy to say they seem to have listened to customer complaints. The system has been upgraded and the process is simple and easy to use. Well Done !
I read the PDS in detail when I signed up so I understood what I was and was not covered. I have had no other issues to date.

Avoid Medibank Pet Insurance - completely
I have had a policy for my dog for the last 7 years. I have found recently that Medibank will do whatever it takes to avoid paying out at all costs - but my recent incident when I made a claim was just completely unacceptable and should serve as a warning to others.
Recently I submitted a claim for my dogs x rays on his elbow which was rejected on the basis that "my policy did not meet the qualifying criteria" Medibank asserted that the x rays were for castration and in their letter to me stated that the X-rays were for "castration". When I ...Read more
challenged the claim on the phone (to the Phillipines) and asked for a reason, Medibank admitted that the consultation notes were not checked by the vet (in the Phillipines) despite the fact my claim form completed by the vet clearly explained the X-rays were for my dogs elbow. I then asked for the vets certification and registration details because I informed Medibank I would report the vet for their conduct. I was then told "my claim would be reviewed" and the matter "escalated". Today I received a phone call (again from the Phillipines) to be told my claim was assessed by "someone studying vet science". Therefore, Medibank used an unqualified, unregistered person to assess my claim who in addition did not review my vets consultation notes. The fact that Medibank allowed that to happen is very concerning and simply unacceptable. Medibank confirmed there was no quality checking of claims by anyone in Australia. There has not been an apology or contact from anyone in Australia. By the end of today I received an email informing me that my claim has now been "approved" and the benefit will be paid. It became clear to me that people based in the Phillipines are assessing claims originating from Australia and there is no oversight of the claims by anyone in Australia. And who knows what the qualifications (if any) are of those people in the Phillipines assessing claims. Had I known this from the outset I would never have taken out this policy. There is very good reason why there are so many "terrible" reviews for Medibank Pet Insurance on this website...and here is further evidence why.2 comments

ot a qualified vet assessed and rejected my claim (Petsure are refusing to provide the information). And I am still waiting on an answer on how my claim was assessed as "not qualifying". It gets better..... Petsure tell me that they receive between 2000 - 4000 claims per day for assessment. These claims are all processed in the Phillipines and not all claims are checked for accuracy and quality assurance. In other words, Medibank (and / or Petsure) rely on you to pick up their mistakes (or not) and to challenge their mistakes before paying you.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I really regret ever signing up with Medibank pet insurance
I have been with this company for seven years for two dogs and have only had one successful claim. Now I find out that there is an annual $200 excess per annum per ailment, in other words, it’s a rare event when they pay up. Should have just set the ever increasing premium amount up in a separate account and self insured. Do not use this company, it is a rip-off and they are taking advantage of people who want to look after their pets. Will be cancelling my policies and I only wish I had private health insurance so I could cancel that as well, that’s how mad I am about their ethics.

Disgusted with Medibank
I have been with Medibank for our Health Insurance for at least 30 years. I have two dogs insured since pups and they are now 8years and 5 years. I finally put a claim in for my 8 year who had an abscess on his tooth only to find out that we are not covered. Apparently no dental is covered. Too bad if they get cancer in the mouth as they will call this a dental as well and have the excuse of not covering you. Our vet bill was closed to $850 and they gave me back a measley $50 for a scale and clean. We have top cover for both dogs and this one a...Read more
lone we have paid out over $7500 in the 8 years with them. At the moment its a $101 a month. Too scared to add up the other dog as well. Going to be cancelling both policies as a waste of time if that's all they can do for us. Too many changes to policies over the yeas as to how much less they will cover things for so you have to be on top of it. Also premiums just keep going up and we get no benefits if we haven't had any claim in a year, like they first gave you years ago. Will put the money now in our own account as we are only flushing it down the toilet with them. PS I wouldnt even give them one star!!1 comment

Disappointed - just a massive rip off
We have had Medibank Gold Paw cover for 8 years. Thankfully we have had to make very few claims other than for routine vaccinations etc. I have just received a renewal notification and the monthly premium has jumped from $86.60 a month to $103.80 a month, justified in their letter because my dog is over the age of 8. The monthly premium when I first took out cover in 2010 was $43.47!
In 2010 Medibank Pet Insurance assured “peace of mind”and a host of other benefits including up to 100% cover on vet bills. By 2012 this had reduced to 80% yet the premiums keep rising. I wanted the best cover for my pet, but have very little confidence that Medibank Pet Insurance offers this.

8 years - the speed of the claim review and amount of refunds was astonishing and this occurred time after time. When my treasured dog passed away, Medibank promptly finalised all claims and cancelled the policy to save me the grief and cost of ongoing monthly payments. Terrible RIP OFF
I have premium plus insurance and when my dog got sick. I was refunded $21 from a $160 bill. I showed this to a HCF insurance rep who laughed and told I would have received the entire amount back. Medibank is extremely expensive they near nothing and l their staff are I'll informed and extremely rude. I am taking my money elsewhere I strongly suggest everyone shops around and does the same don't get ripped off by medibank like I have.

Excellent - really regretting cancelling my policy
I insured both my dogs with Medibank Pet from the day we brought them home. They always paid promptly, claiming wasn’t difficult, no quibbles. They did as the years went on become extremely expensive but it seems you get what you pay for. I tried to save money by switching to RAC Pet Insurance and quite frankly they’ve been woeful in comparison. I’d also not realised preexisting conditions wouldn’t be covered so now I’m left worrying my dogs aren’t fully insured. Lesson learned ... if your pet insurer is good but a bit pricey stick with them as the extra is worth it. I’d recommend Medibank Pet completely.

Hi,
For the claim what is the meaning of Pet History . Do you need vet history from the birth. I got my pup when he was 8 weeks old and he didn't have a vet visit prior to that because he was a health puppy. His first vet check up was around 8 weeks old and didn't have any health issues so far. If I make a claim in the future would it be ok to have pet vet history from 8 weeks old.
