When my vacuum is charged it tells me that it is full charged. Lately it just repeats this message over and over and over. There is no stopping it. I have to unplug it. Is there a way to deactivate the voice?

Probably a silly question but I’m struggling to install the brushes after I take off the screws
Any help would be great?

The brushes just pop on, you don't need to unscrew anything. They do take a bit of pressure to push on and make sure the squares are lined up correctly, but they do just push on.

I've just gone onto Ebay and completed a search on there. There is a supplier who has free postage - sends 3 pairs of brushes for $30. The ones that were supplied ended up being scrunched into a couple of balls after the first couple of uses. Said something about making sure they are installed correctly - left and right - but I couldn't for the life of me see anywhere on the brushes to indicate what sides they should be placed on. Good luck.

Have you tried wiping the part of the vacuum where it charges as well as the charging dock?

In my experience you have to check the unit is properly aligned when it connects to the charging dock .If it doesnt display the moving "1111" then it probably isn't charging.
Non- charging may also be a symptom of a failed battery .

My virtual wall doesn't seem to be working. The cover pops off very easily which makes the batteries fall out. Having said that; even if I hold battery cover on with my hand no lights come on. Anyone else had any issues like this? I just bought it yesterday.

Place a screw driver with flat end ( this called a blade ) use it as a lever & apply only enough leverage to "pop" the panel off.

The mop is attached to the bottom panel "trailing bar" which must be removed from the bottom of the unit. Just pry it off gently, the whole panel (shaped like a half-moon) will come up. After that, mop removal or replacement is simple. Once finished, insert the two tabs on the trailing bar back into the unit, and press into place.

Anyone know how to clean the ground detector so E001 stops happening after 3 seconds of use?
I think there are 4 of them, clear plastic looking things. Tried clean cloth, damp cloth and widow cleaner but it just keeps on stopping.

I have been having the exact same issue and mygenie has only just been saved from being binned. I have just discovered a small amount of dust in the sensors. First I tried blowing at the sensors, then I spent about 5 minutes gently tapping the machine, as it seems that the sensors may not be totally sealed. Just turn it a few different angles while you are tapping as I noticed some dust falling out via the bumper. You might have to do this a couple of times. Not sure if it will work for you, but worth a try. The first couple of times my machine only ran for a few minutes, but a bit longer than before E001 had been coming up. It's now been running for the past 20 minutes with no problem.

Julie G was correct, I took the bumper off and gave it a good clean but it still didn't work, but then I tapped the bumper a few times ( as Julie G suggested ) at different angles and Genie is off somewhere in the house as we speak.

how to install the battery for the cleaner?

1 answer
Maryanne H
Maryanne H

Hi Shaunea, turn off main power, turn over your genie zx1000, you will see at the back (opposite end to external silver contacts). There are four screws in a semi circle, remove screws using a x head screw driver (Phillips head) remove cover to see a vacant hole with red, yellow & black wires into a plastic clip (jack). Plug together with wire jack on the battery & turn on power switch to test. Reverse procedure to reassemble.
Hope this helps.

are the battery charged when you buy from the shop?

The battery was at least partially-charged when unpacked. It has to be fully-charged before it is used, although this didn't take long at all. (The display tells you when it is fully-charged. In the machine we bought, we couldn't tell for sure whether there was something wrong with the battery (such as not charging) or whether the system/display saying it was fully charged was wrong (or both).
