Without heat again
Heater is one year old and needs its fourth repair. Works for a short period after each repair before emitting a stench that makes it unusable. Suffering through our second cold snap without heat. Trying to get it replaced for the last week. It's freezing and my family is cold. When it goes on the blink it seems to use high levels of gas (which is probably what's filling the house), costing me extra on refills, not to mention the added cost of using little electric heaters to try and stay warm while waiting on repair. Wouldn't buy one again.

Great whilst working very Poor Rinnai Customer Service Warranty
We bought this heater just on five years ago and was great heater, it did a great job warming us up until this year. I had the heater serviced every two years by a reputable gas fitter who until recently was Rinnai agent. This winter our heater failed to start with error code 11 on display, went in for service who were in touch with Rinnai and after three weeks the heater was returned....... unable to be repaired. I then contacted Rinnai for assistance only to be told to pay $175 for the first hour of inspection with another gas fitter and then a decision will be made. They did not have decency to hear me out but rather kept on talking over me by reading out their warranty policy. Now I stuck without a heater in the middle of winter.

Smells
Emits a putrid smell.
Spent as much time off for repairs as has had hours use.
While never fixed each call comes with the standard this is going to cost you $175.
Still a very expensive problem.
Partner has had health issues since we got it.
Rinnai will tell you there are no known issues.
Do not buy!

Impressive
We bought this heater 10 days ago. It is ridiculosly easy to install, easy to operate and understand, works fast (which is a delight at 4am when feeding baby), we are heating an open space of 70sq meters and it does the job effortlessly (I was sceptical). However, we live in Quakers Hill which could make a difference to someone in Oberon for instance. It is a modern design, very pleasing on the eye, not bulky but quite compact for what it does. Light in weight and the three metre hose makes it easy to manouver around if needed. The only reason I give it a 4 star is the fact that we are still to see the gas bill and find out if it is economical enough to be a five star product.

Warmth with convenience
It is our first heater of this type. Easily keeps entire house warm and then keeping it there - just turn it on and I walk away from it. Love setting the timers so that we can come home to a home to a warm house in the evenings and having it come on in the morning to encourage you out of bed!
Only get caught out from time to time with aerosols like fly spray can make it smell of fumes. Some are worse then others, but we just turn it off for 5 min if we spray. Perhaps Rinnai could provide feedback on this? It does not smell of fumes other than this

Perfect Heater
We have a large open home and this particular heater is perfect, we find the timer program brilliant, very nice to set and get up to a nice warm home in the mornings, haven't had a chance to see what the cost of running will be as it is too early as we haven't used long enough but will soon know as June and July come.

So Far So Good
Purchased our Rinnai 25Plus 4 weeks ago. I was sceptical due to emissions (C02) and having young children. This is my first unflued heater. I did notice a slight odour with an associated headache the first week of use. This has now subsided. I also have a C02 monitor, which is 1.5m from the heater and has not registered any C02.
As far as heating...it is wonderful.
I will be interested to see our first gas bill, we use it for 2 hours in the morning and 2-3 hours at night.
Like I said, So Far So Good!!! Time will tell.

Uses too much gas
I got this to replace an old, but trusty Pyrox 6 burner thinking that new meant more efficient and I wanted timers. Apart from the difference between the radiant heat of the old one, I'm not 100% sold on the new one. I like the dual timers and the "house" is warmer, but sitting on the couch isn't. With my old heater a cylinder of gas would last about 5 weeks in winter...new heater 3 weeks maximum. This was a shock as I was expecting greater efficiency, so still adjusting...... to the running cost and the chill of sitting on the couch.

Love love love it
Had it one day and love it already. House is toasty warm on 22. Had to turn it down after 15 minutes. Very quiet & no horrible odours at all. I would definitely recommend this to anybody. Awesome that it is child safe & turns itself down once it reaches the desired temperature.

Amazing Heater!
Having owned a Rinnai heater previously I am surprised this is even better! My last one lasted 10 years and heated my whole terrace (it was only 60sqm). This is the best in terms of output we have a large open plan house and this definitely takes off the chill. Very happy with purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this model.

This heater is perfect
After much procrastination we have finally entered the modern world of gas heating.. Why why why did we wait so long.
I love this heater, so good for open plan areas. the emissions are fine, the timer is fantastic, the electric boost on cold mornings or when we get home is a godsend.

Great Heater
Being fed up with the cost of running a ducted cooling/heating system I was looking for some way of heating my open plan living/dining/kitchen area (estimated area about 50 sqm) this winter. I had initially been thinking of a large electric panel heater, but the largest I could find would only heat a room area of around 25 sqm, and the cost of running it would also be high. I briefly thought about gas heating, but was a little worried about emissions and reading some reviews was further put off by reports of smells. In the end I bit the bullet ...Read more
and decided that this heater was probably the only thing that could heat the space (based on the marketing claims), at a reasonable running cost and with the features I was looking for (specifically a dual timer). I can report that the heater is more than capable of heating the room space and have not noticed any unpleasant smells coming from the unit. The dual timer works exactly as planned, automatically turning the unit on in the morning so that the room is warmed up for when my kids get up, and then turned off automatically when they all leave for school. The process is repeated in the evenings when the sun goes down. It was also very simple to set up, just plug in to the gas bayonet and electric socket, set the clock and the timers (which was extremely simple compared to some timers I have had to set in the past), and it is ready to start heating the room. I would recommend this to anyone needing to heat a large room space and not wanting the high running costs of a ducted heating system.1 comment

Perfect addition!
Heating great & 2 timers is a welcomed feature. Heats a large open area and makes a huge difference. Would be 5* if it regulated the room temperature, the control panel seems to heat beyond the required temperature setting which is a little frustrating. Best we would find very happy!

Great product that does its job well
This products warns up the house in no time and seems to do it with ease. We are heating around 65MSQ and it works well. We have noticed the slightest of smells but nothing that has bothered us too much.
Happy to recommend this product to people with a large area to heat.

Heats well but worried about fumes
Heats instantly & efficient to run, looks good. Have now used for four winters Just worried about the fumes going into the room. Being from the UK where most people have gas heating that is always flued & there is warnings about carbon monoxide poisoning from blocked flues it seems very unlikely it can be safe venting in the room. Even with the window open (which seems to defeat the propose of a heater) it still smells fumey. Would never leave it on overnight.

BEST GAS HEATER IN THE MARKET
We have a average size loungeroom (50sqm) which where the heater is located. All I can is AMAZING the loungeroom heats up within minutes. We left it on all night last winter with the 2kw fan didn't not use the ducted aircon once. Purchasing this heater may not be cheap (costed us $1400 at binglee) but it certainly almost cut our power bills by 50%. HIGHLY recommended.

Nice and toasty
After putting up with a cheap electric heater for too long I finally spent the money and got a gas heater ( natural gas)
Very simple to install, just plug in. I got the 3 metre hose at no extra cost. This is the largest heating output you can have unflued and it's awesome!! Heats up the room very fast, has an economy mode, very easy to use and set timers etc.
No gas smells or odours. It is available in LPG for those with bottled gas. I love it and recommend.
Efficient, simple, excellent heat output

Very Toasty
Only had it 1 month. Spent a bit more on this one than my last Rinnai (that lasted at least 12 years) as I have a bigger house now and it more than does the job of heating our open plan area. We have a raised ceiling with a loft above, so that naturally gets very warm compared to the ground floor level, but the ground floor is very comfortable. Has same functionality as my old Rinnai - Remote & 2 timers. Very safe with kids & pets due to no naked flames, plus it has a safety tip sensor. Some people have said this model emits a smell, we only n...Read more
oticed a very slight 'new burn' smell in the 1st few days but nothing pungent. Just don't spray aerosols while it is on our use if you have freshly painted your room. I'm saving giving a 5 star rating until after I get my 1st gas bill. Safe, warm, eay to use, timer functionality I don't know where the temperature sensor is, but it often claims the room is 25 degrees when it clearly is not so we have to turn it up to 26 to make it 'rev up'Similar opinion? Excellent unit and surprisingly, NO SMELL!
After reading all the reviews regarding the gas smell, we had great concerns prior to committing the purchase to an Avenger 25 Plus Unit. After calling major retailers i.e. Harvey Norman and Kambos, it turned out that the exchange and return policy is the same: if the unit is believed to be faulty, the manufacturer has to investigate before the retailer make exchanges. So in the end we decided to bite the bullet and hope for the best.
And it was great! Took my husband 10 mins in total to take it out of the box, hook it up and press start an...Read more
d bam the unit is running! And there is no smell! I'm pregnant, so I would have been ultra sensitive to smell, but there is none, other than the new plastic smell that you may also find on a new fridge or new watching machine. So far we have been so happy with the unit, really easy to ignite and so quiet as well. So after all the hesitation, I felt obliged to jump online and "justify" a little bit for the brilliant working unit. Our initial conclusion (without expertise backup of course) to those smelly units were: There could be a connection issue. The unit wasn't designed to emit unburned gas, so if your unit has gas smell, it's either the bayonet connection is not sealed properly, or there is something seriously wrong with the particular unit (but what's the chance most of the time?). This assumption basically encouraged us to commit to the purchase and turned out our unit is fine. So good luck to all people who are considering buying this unit. It was a good buy for us, hope for the same to you. =) House specs: 31sqm immediate heating area, 3m high ceiling, open hall ways and corridors. Our goal was to warm up the whole house 130sqm in low heat over time. So far so good. Powerful, quiet, quick and energy efficient.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Why is there a red light flashing when I turn on my Rinnai Avenger 25plus
2 answers
Rinnai A.Rinnai
Hi Dancer, if the heater is not turning on and you have the red flashing light, it generally indicates there has been an error in the starting process. In the display there would be a 2 digit fault code which will indicate the issue.
You can check this code in the user manual received with the unit, the online version can be found on the Rinnai website. A service call may be required depending on the error.
Thanks
Rinnai Australia
Yes two digit code is 70, i only use 2 months.of the year, no problem.then. However my Everdure is working. Where is best place to go to fix the Avenger 25plus I live north of river, how much will cost approx.
