Better to have it than not!
Although the policy did not cover all our out of pocket costs it was better to have it than not. The policy was settled quickly enough, although it took a while to show up that a claim had been lodged by my vet (using vet hub). I have been had RSPCA pet insurance for 3 years.

A few alarm bells
These are early days, as I've just purchased insurance for my two dogs and have yet to make a claim, but what I learned today is interesting...
Greenstone Financial Services sells RSPCA, Australian Seniors and Guide Dog Pet Insurance (among others). When you get an online quote, you have to enter your name, DOB and phone number before a quote is generated. Then the phone calls start. Interestingly, I received calls from the three aforementioned "brands" as they are called on the Greenstone website. The agents all work out of the same office a...Read more
nd call hoping to sell you the "brand" they've been assigned to sell, for a commission. Once you buy a policy, they very quickly read you a legal disclosure statement, most of which seems insignificant until (if you pay attention) they rattle off the part that Greenstone is paid up to 53% of the premium! When I questioned this, the agent herself didn't have the answer and had to ask her manager. The response I got came down to administration costs, so I will be contacting the RSPCA Head Office after the holidays for further clarification. It seems that we all may be paying more in premiums than necessary due to, dare I say, hefty "administration" costs. Also, whilst a noble gesture, the monies paid back to the RSPCA to assist with animal welfare ventures happens only once: only in the first year of your policy and it's unclear how much is donated back to the RSPCA. I was told "up to" 20% and it depended on the policy. Rather vague and ambiguous which, ironically, didn't leave me feeling assured. I have 30 days to decide if I wish to proceed with the policies purchased today. I will continue to do my research before that period elapses and act accordingly. Bottom line: always do your research, ask questions and in particular, listen carefully to how they're being answered, then question again!

Great but do not like the phone calls without leaving a message
I am happy with the policy so far. But after getting a quote I was harassed with three phone calls a day with no message left of no indication of who was ringing. I ended up googling the number and it was RSPCA insurance. I went about picking my policy in my own time and did not need the unknown phone calls

Great peace of mind for my new best mate.
Good value for money, especially considering a percentage of the first years premiums go towards helping other animals in need. Easy and straight forward to set up over the phone. I have only just commenced the policy but the online claims process appears to be as easy as setting up the policy if and when I need to make a claim.

Terrible policy and would not recommend.
Was rejected and took me to follow up 3 times and wait on the phone for about 30 minutes to tell me it was rejected.

Great service and answers to all of my questions.
It can be confusing to try to compare policies from different vendors. Both of the customer service people that I spoke to at RSCPA were very knowledgeable and helpful. I'm happy with the coverage of this policy and saving quite a bit compared to our previous insurance company. Thanks!

Very happy with insurance process
Have needed to do multiple claims for my dog after he was diagnosed with cancer. RSPCA were prompt with their insurance payments and the process was pretty seamless. Would be good if they allowed eft payments instead of sending cheques

Have had to claim twice now...so easy!!
Like any insurance policy you wonder if it's worth it, however my claims for my very active Irish Terrier (laceration) and (leg injury) have always been easy to Claim and definitely worth the peace of mind with an eight year old dog that thinks she's a youngster and still tries to climb trees ;-)

Beneficial if needed but costly
I have had this insurance for two years and frankly I have paid alot of money and received very little in claims back. The only benefit is that my pet is healthy and when she gets sick (hopefully not for along time) I will be able to afford her care. I just wished they covered and paid for more of the costs of regular/routine care as I only have insurance so I can afford my pets care.

Another positive experience with RSPCA insurance!
My French Bulldog recently required urgent surgery. The biggest problem I had was getting the vet to provide the notes. Once I was able to get these to the insurance, her claim was completed swiftly and to my satisfaction. My previous dog was extremely sick for many months and required expensive tests and treatment. The RSPCA insurance allowed him to be treated by paying out swiftly for each claim. I am more than happy with this product.

Awesome and quick, makes life a lot easier!!
I think the policy is good value until you get to the crucial ligament where it covers a dollar amount and not a percentage which makes it really expensive for the pet owner
