Easy to set up and was good value compared to others.
This is the first time I took out proper travel insurance as I was travelling with the kids. We had multiple flight connections over the five week period, some with low cost carriers notorious for cancelling or delaying flights. In the end there were no issues but it was reassuring to known there was a safety net behind us, not only for potential missed flights but also for all the devices the kids "needed" to travel with. Very good value for the services offered and the policy was set up online within minutes.

good travel insurance - app not so good
it was easy to purchase the insurance and the rate was competitive. The only problem I had was that I couldn't share the details of my travel insurance with my travel companion because the 'my policy' section of the app was only a duplicate of the 'summary' page and didn't have a policy number or any other details about my policy. aside from that I thought the rest of the app was helpful.

Thailand specialist
I travel to Thailand frequently, I find TID to good for what I need personally. Don’t go jumping on a scooter if your not an experienced rider and not used to heavy traffic conditions with minimal road rules and you’ll be fine. Thanks TID for another safe trip!

Given the Runaround 3 months and counting
I thought the initial process to apply and make the claim was quite pleasant and straight forward. The process to have my invoices for medical expenses paid is another matter. Every time I have emailed and reattached the invoices, I have received a response saying the matter will be looked at and I will receive confirmation. So far five emails, same response and in the mean time I am being harrassed by the Hospital with invoices to pay because TID hasn't yet paid the invoices. the 18th January... It was a five minute consultation in the Emergency ward, mind you. I am in a Commonwealth country, not a Third world country where it would understandably be more complicated. This is terrible service. The international number only lets me call during Australian Business hours and I feel like I have been dealing with an automated robot this whole time who has yet to even pass on my invoices to payments! Cheap when taking policy - would never settle your claim
I had taken a TID policy in October for my travel to US. I chose the highest form of family cover as I was travelling with kids.
I was mugged in my journey and thankfully only lost my hand bag which had a laptop and a mobile phone.
I duly reported it to the local police and took a sigh of relief that I had taken the highest cover so hopefully I wont be out of pocket.

Such great service.
Dealing with the TID team could not have been easier, their Customer Service skills are above and beyond anything else I have experienced lately. They are not only polite but they are extremely helpful, informative and their response time was great. I didn’t have any hassles what so ever whilst completing my claim and received it within the time they said it would take, no delays what so ever (this was also over the busy Christmas/ New Year period ). I will definitely be using TID again and will recommend them to everyone ☺️

Denied Medical had to pay all myself
Now we all know that working in the insurance business you have to be a very special kind of person! So anyway I took out the works travel insurance with them, the best they have. I have used them many times as I’ve travelled a lot and never claimed once. Now after being assualted by a group of thai taxi drivers because I would not pay the agreed amount I was king hit from the side and had my lip cut and teeth smashed. So after going to the hospital after it happened they didn’t let me claim insurance because they kept giving me the run around ...Read more
saying I need to leave the hospital and get a police report, an accident report and witness statements. So I left the hospital with my lip gushing with blood and teeth smashed because my insurance said I need this other documents before I’m covered. So the next day I do all that’s asked and head back to the hospital late the next day. The hospital they deal with is Bangkok hospital in Pattaya and it’s no doubt they have a scam going on with customers. The next day I was still denied medical treatment because I haven’t got a medical report! (That’s correct a medical report). I couldn’t get medical help from the medical staff because I hadn’t got a medical report about my injuries. (You are reading correctly). I had no choice to pay for everything myself. I went to another hospital! That’s not all either but I just can’t be bothered writing anymore. I have used other insurance companies before but never before as a company calling themselves “travel insurance direct” I thought they’d be the best. Because they are definitely not the cheapest. Bottom line is they don’t want to help and make it impossible to claim! I hate this company so much!1 comment

I didn’t use it but I was happy to know it was there.
The policy was very easy to organise, which I find important. No drama during my trip so no need to make a claim, but just the peace of mind I got from knowing it was there ‘just in case’ was well worth the money. I’ll use them again next time.

Ash cloud issue
Had to change departure date after TID announced policy change in regards to possible volcano eruption in Bali. They still honoured our original booking date that would have covered any ash cloud claim. Back home in WA without any claims.

Every time I go overseas with y family I insure with TID, I won't change. Because it is so easy to set up online - done in five minutes, TID offers THE best value for the cost - excellent. Customer support is immediate, no matter where we have been in the world, from China to Bora Bora and many places in between. TID is like our best friend and I wouldn't leave home without it.

Value for money and easy to arrange
This is the second policy I've bought through TID. The first time, we had to submit a claim after our luggage was delayed. Since it was a ski trip and our luggage contained all our warm clothes, we had to hire some when our luggage didn't arrive. The claim was honoured and finalised quickly and easily. This time, luckily, everything went smoothly. We hired cars in the US without needing to use more expensive options for reducing our insurance excess (co-payment).
