Travel China Guide Tours are Excellent
My wife and I have used Travel China Guide Tours for several trips in Southeast Asia. Our first experience with them was in Chengdu, where we were able to hold juvenile pandas and go to a English Language bookstore. Our guide was very caring and responsive to our needs. Next we traveled to Xian and our guide made the movement through the crowds much easier by having us move to the dig sites in an opposite order. Next we booked a tour of Shanghai and had a great experience, The tour guide had to do some leg work in order to include the Propaganda Museum that I wanted my wife to see but they made it work out. Finally, we booked a trip to Thailand over a Christmas holiday. Not only did they book our tours but they made arrangements for flights and hotels so all we had to worry about was packing. This was a great trip, we visited Chang Mai, Chang Rai and Bangkok. The tour company was very helpful in Bangkok when my wife injured her ankle and we were unable to complete the tour. The company refunded part of our money, got her ankle check by the medical staff at the hotel and arranged for wheelchair service on our flight home. I have been nothing but happy with the professionalism, flexibility and caring of the staff at Travel China Guide.

We had a great experience with Travel China Guide when we visited Beijing and surroundings, during an extended trip to see our son who was studying in Shanghai. In addition to a very pleasant experience during the trip, with a very fun and well informed driver and guide, we also were so impressed by the pre-trip support, clarity of information and genuine effort to understand what we were seeking from our travels. Very professional multi-location tour
My three-person family booked a tour from the US, landing in Beijing, where we were met by a knowledgeable and competent tour guide. Maggie had a van waiting for us, which took us to our hotel - a nice Sheraton. Our multinational group assembled the next morning and Maggie was wonderful about navigating us through Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City. mpetence, but also in terms of being able to nimbly handle a group of 10 that all wanted to go in different directions. Two days later, we were whisked to the airport by the usual van, and Maggie was able to expedite our check in and baggage. After a short flight, we checked in to our hotel in Xian, which had the most wonderful breakfasts. The next morning, as usual, we were met by our guide, Susan, who took us to see the terracotta warriors - truly spectacular. Thereafter, be sure to take the bicycle tour on top of the wall that surrounds Xian. The usual van took us around the city, and then dropped us at the airport the next day. Susan got us all checked in and baggage handled. We took another short flight to Chongqing, and had scorching hot pot before boarding our cruise ship for a 3-day adventure on the Yangtse. Don't miss the evening departure from Chongqing on the deck - see this splendid city light up at night as you depart. Although the boat had seen some age, it was perfectly adequate, and the food was better than expected. We took small sampans up estuaries of the Yangtse, and made a few pagoda stops, before heading to the Three River Gorges. This cruise was the highlight of our trip. We disembarked in Yichang, and our wonderful guide Chuckie customized a day in his city, that included a visit to a tea market, and a special sitting with a tea doctor. We learned quite a bit about tea. Chuckie deposited us at the airport, and we flew to Shanghai. What a magnificent city! Be sure to take the one hour river cruise that gives you a full view of the city. Caveat: there are some shopping stops on the tour, at a jade factory, a pearl factory and a terracotta factory. We were skeptical, but ended up doing our best shopping on these stops, and the prices and quality were better than in the markets. Our whole trip was seamless, from booking (thank you Abbey), to questions, payment and departure. My only advice is to carefully research the visa process - it's a bear, but nothing Travel China Guide can do about that. This was not a Ritz-Carlton tour, nor was it Motel 6 - it was a Sheraton tour, right in the middle. I would highly recommend Travel China Guide.

We had a 16 day guided tour of China in 2014. I was somewhat worried booking a trip through the internet. It turned out to be a great one. Our agent was Abbey and we actually met her in Xian. Reading it you might think that it is too good to be true. We extended our China trip with a day without a guide and traveled to another city (Suzhou). That turned out to be the worst experience. This is an extremely professional, customer-focussed tour company. From the initial enquiry, to booking, and then travelling with them we could not have been more delighted. The tour guides were very personable and knowledgeable (particularly Sara, our first guide in Beijing).

Great Wall walking tour with a Great team
I used Travel Guide China tours for a walking tour on the Great Wall, the service was fantastic, emails were replied to promptly, everything they said they would do was done, and the walk itself was fantastic. The guide was so informative and answered every single question with great information, really made the trip enjoyable and very much worthwhile. Cannot fault them and I would use them again for sure next time I visit China.

Professional and friendly service
I booked a one day tour of Forbidden City / Mutianyu, a bit last minute as I was already in Beijing when I realized I had underestimated the challenges in getting around on my own. I was a bit nervous about booking online - but no need to worry! I was very impressed with the prompt replies to email received by Angela, and our tour guide Rico was fantastic, very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. A perfect end to our holiday
Having a few days in Shanghai at the end of our cruise, we decided to take the tour to the water village of Zhouzhuang. We had a great time
This tour was exactly what we were looking for - we did the 1 day tour to Mutianyu. We were picked up promptly in the morning and dropped off at a convenient location in the afternoon.
Normally we would have done this on our own, but having a toddler with us meant finding transport on our own would have been too hard.
We found the length of your just right for us and the toddler and the lunch was delicious!!!

A thoroughly reliable company who spent many hours (Vera) tailoring our 12 day tour to what we wanted over the Christmas period. All the guides, Candy, Celine, Ryan and Ocean were great especially when we were 'stranded' waiting for a delayed train in Beijing. Vera and Ruby called us to set up alternative transport but it all worked out in the end. A fabulous adventure and I have no reservations about recommending this company. Top notch!

Our travel coordinator, Lexi Yang, was very professional and prompt in her replies and easy to work with. June 25th 2018 Update: Second Booking with Travel China Guide and Still Flawless! My wife and I used TravelChinaGuide again to arrange a local tour of Chongqing and the surrounding area. We separately booked our air/hotel, but our guide and car/driver were arranged by Lexi Yang (she also happened to be the same person that coordinated our Xian tour. She’s great. Very responsive in emails as well as available on WeChat). The areas toured outside Chongqing included Dazu (Baoding carvings), Black Mountain Valley and Wulong. Each place was a separate tour day and drive time each way ranged from about 1.5 to 3 hours. Everything worked flawlessly (except for traffic in Chongqing. It can be pretty amazing, but our driver (Mr. Hu(?) was quite good about his maneuvering and making the best of it). Our guide, Charlie was always waiting in the hotel lobby even when we were a few minutes early. No complaints at all. They were good and took us to some terrific local places for very non touristy lunches. As always, these are the kinds of places that you just wouldn’t easily find without local help. Chongqing and that area of China don’t have a lot of English signs/menus so a bit of a challenge without a guide. Charlie was very knowledgeable and we were very happy to have made the tour arrangements. We definitely plan to use Lexi and TravelChinaGuide again in the future.1 comment

It was obvious that she was knowledgeable and able to address each of our questions and concerns with ease. We felt confident in having Lydia coordinate our travel. She was able to arrange and adjust our travel plans to accommodate just about everything we requested. BEIJING Our travels began in Beijing. Our guide - Harrison - was awesome! He provided an informative description of the history of China as he walked us around Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City, Summer Palace and the Great Wall (Mutianyu section). We enjoyed each site as well as the time spent traveling to and from each location. While in Beijing, we also visited a jade store. The saleswomen were so nice (without being pushy), that some of us bought several items as gifts for those back home. Our hotel – Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing - was perfect! The location was ideal because it was in the center of most of the places we planned to visit on our own at night. The room accommodations were excellent and the included daily breakfast (both American and Chinese food options) gave us the strength we needed to begin each day. The high speed train from Beijing to Xi'an was probably our best transportation experience of the whole trip. While it took over 6 hours, we were all very relaxed in our big reclining seats – the first class seats were well worth the extra cost. One of our travelers is 6 feet 5 inches tall and found these seats to be perfect. The train ride was very smooth and we barely realized that we were traveling at almost 200mph. It was also nice to be able to walk from car to car to stretch our legs. XI’AN Upon our arrival in Xi’an we contacted Tracy via WeChat. Tracy was a nice guide and knowledgeable about history of Xi'an. Once we arrived at the City Wall, we biked atop the City Wall for about 15 minutes. We enjoyed a dinner and theatre performance that evening. The next day we visited a pottery-making factory. They had some pretty cool items for sale and offered to ship items (for an extra charge), but we were a bit rushed and didn’t have much time to consider purchasing anything. Visiting the Terra Cotta Army the next day was the highlight of this trip. Even though the weather was extremely hot (in late June), the group enjoyed seeing the sculptures created to serve Emperor Qin in the afterlife. We took a photo with the farmer who discovered the pit and purchased his signed book (and were charged a nice sum to do both). Lunch on this day was surprisingly delicious! Tracy took us to a great spot. Our hotel, Wyndham Grand Xi’an South, was a very new hotel and was one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed during my travels in China. The staff was very friendly and the included breakfast gave us an assortment of food options. Our flight to Chengdu on China Air went smoothly and was on time.1 comment
