Disgusting, shallow and ruthless
Some lady at the stall (in pacific fair) asked if me and my girlfriend wanted to enter a competition. We both scratched these little scratchies and got 3 stars each! the lady then told us we had won, and could claim up to $2000 in a travel voucher. My pregnant wife was so happy she started crying as this meant we could go back to see our family overseas. The lady asked our age (which is between 29-33) and then she asked if we were Australian Citizens. I told her I was and we were just waiting for my partners Permanent status to come through. She then told us that we both weren't eligible and walked away from us. My Partner was devestated, to build up hope like that is just crush her at a time when she is weak was a disgusting practice.

Was This Too Good To Be True?
We recently attended an expo and were encouraged by a very enthusiastic young man to try our luck on a scratchie as we may win a holiday. After scratching away, mine came up nil but my husband scratched three stars which meant he had definitely won a travel prize - no doubt about it! But what was the catch we thought? The catch was we had to go to a presentation at Parramatta and be introduced to the benefits of belonging to the Classic Holidays club. We also had to secure the presentation with a $50 deposit which would be fully refundable ...Read more
when we turned up. We were a bit hesitant about parting with our $50 but thought hey, maybe we will be able to score a week away free and since we like travelling there may be something of interest for us. We turned up and as promised and our $50 was promptly refunded before we progressed. We were then led into a room and assigned a consultant who took us to a booth in an open plan office with several other consultants talking to other prospects. Our consultant was lovely and very polite and explained either this would be for us or not but either way, we would receive our prize but we had to wait till the end to scratch the prize section off our scratchie to reveal our holiday choice. The presentation was quite lengthy and in between other friendly consultants were called over to interact with us. At this point in our life, we could not see the value of joining the club, however, saying that, it certainly looked like if you did a lot of overseas travel, especially river cruises you may save a bit on accommodation costs. There was a small amount of pressure which is to be expected and we had to make a decision that night so we decided to say no. So can we please scratch the scratchie now! After scratching our card it was revealed that we had won 3-7 days in selected timeshare accommodation in either Bali, Thailand, North New Zealand or throughout Australia, however, we still had to pay a $199.00 booking fee, which I was a little bit disappointed about as it's now not FREE. We were sent home with our prize accommodation booklet that we have 12 months to use and our consultant wished us all the best and there were no bad feelings. The next day I did check out the accommodation venues we could go to but to be honest none of them made me jump for joy and looked a bit dated. When I checked the booking dates most of the best times of the year were taken and the reviews were not all that favourable. So as a keen traveller I still have not decided on the destination we will choose. My overall opinion on whether you should attend this presentation is if you love travelling then pick three destinations you may plan to travel to, get an approximate idea of the star rating of hotel you would stay in and the approximate prices and that way you can see if there are savings to be had when they show you comparison accommodation. If it's not for you, you can just say no thanks and walk away with your prize and if it is then you'll be a member of their club for a minimum of 10 years.1 comment

RELAXING SURROUNDS
No additional fees, a week booked. Mini golf and pitch and put facilities used.
A meal in the restaurant on our last night was lovely.
Resort a little tired in areas but clean and seems well maintained.
We arrived early and were accommodated without any problems.

Enjoyed the trip
Stayed at Cedar Lakes and Jadon Place. Enjoyed both places. Jadon Place is badly in need of a refurb/update. Disappointed with multiple sales approach after saying no at both places.

Not impressed with Mansfield Country Retreat
Family cabin to sleep 4 small - tiny bathroom and minimual hot water - not enough for 4 people to shower. Room and furnishings dated, lounge suite lumpy and very uncomfortable. Crockery chipped and marked. Benchtops cracked and chipped with plenty of ants, and kitchen Lino very stained. Inadquate heating. No mobilbe phone coverage and no landline phone in room. Swimming pool and spa area beautiful however told not to move around in the lap spa but to stay in the corners so as not to splash and waste water!! Pool and spa area a significant dis...Read more
tance from cabins and no decent lighting for walking back at night time. One night Pool and spa area was closed when we went there at 6.30 with no explanation and no one in the 'Lodge', gym and squash courts also locked up. Reception closed early several times during our stay - sometimes they were friendly and approachable, other times not. Very strong sewage smell. Surrounding area was lovely, as is the playground and minigolf area. Don't think on balance that the good outways the not so good and would not really recommend for the price.1 comment

Good information and friendly and well informed staff.
I booked Cedar Lakes for my daughter and her family, she was very happy with the resort, as the location was the main attraction. They enjoyed dinner in the restaurant.

Peaceful and safe
Cedar Lakes is an older style resort set amongst gorgeous rainforest and parkland. The pool looks over the lake. This is definitely a place that you can forget you are only 20 mins from bustling Gold Coast and just relax. The staff are lovely and helpful. Great place for families of young kids who want to relax in nature. Not a place for luxury seekers. Units are old but always clean with everything you might want.

Great place to stay
Great place to stay which is close and handy to all gold coast has to offer. Only took 25 minutes to get to theme parks. Great place to stay with kids as plenty to do swimming, golf, paddle boats tennis, putt putt golf. Rooms had all that you need and nice size. We had 6 people and all slept nice and comfortable.

What a fantastic holiday!
The staff really made this holiday so wonderful, thank you. They did all they could to make our holiday easy and relaxed, even when I locked myself out of the apartment! Apartment was perfect, location good. Wi-Fi $30 for the week, not too bad. Would love to go back.

great apartment, great price, friendly staff
The apartment was spacious and well-lit with a view of the sea. The price was very good. The management was very friendly. Beach towels and the games room were included in the price. Overall I was very happy with the experience. My only complaint is that many of the car parking spots were hard to get in and out of.

Edgewater Club, very comfortable
We stayed at Edgewater Club in Wanaka. Fantastic setting, very helpful manager (LC) welcomed us on arrival. Walking distance to town and local winery. Stayed in a 2-bedroom unit, plenty of space and very good heating system! Would definitely return in the summer!

Great Holiday Spot
Whilst Sandy Point may not be the flashiest of resorts on the Gold Coast, the resort and facilities are still great for us as a family. The rooms are certainly of a high quality, but what makes Sandy Point is the people and the available activities. Always friendly and helpful staff. As a family with young kids, it's awesome to be able to use (free of charge) bikes, beach/pool toys & chairs plus board games for the wet days. Then to have the $8/week DVD rental to rent as many DVD's as you like (two at a time) is awesome.
Regardless of the fact we are timeshare owners there, we will be spending a lot more holidays there just for all we can do.
