I am considering a Dyson DC39 animal for our mainly carpeted house with one dog. My question is about the ease of changing attachments and emptying the canisters, as I have quite severe arthritis in both thumbs and often have difficulty opening jars. Anyone with experience and arthritis?

I had a Dyson vaccum cleaner before and very happy of it. Unfortunately, it was broken after 8 years. I am looking for another Dyson which is more compact (DC47). Is the turbine head automatically change between hardfloor and carpet. The sales assistant showed me that you can stop the turbo spin by touching the button on the head. But then I won't be able to restart the turbine spins by foot for touching the button again. I need to either lift up the head to pull the button out or stop the machine completely. Please tell me is it true how to use the turbine head with carbon fibre brushes.

I don't have the turbine head with my vacuum I have the muscle head which automatically adjusts between hard floors and carpet.

Hi Salina,
Thanks for your interest in the DC47.
The DC47 brushbar contains Nylon bristles for removing ground in dirt from carpets and carbon fibre brushes to help remove fine dust from your hard floors. For most uses, you shouldn't need to turn the brushbar off, although you may need to for some delicate floors or if your flooring manufacturer recommends to do so.
If we can be of any assistance please call us on 1800 239 766. Our helpline is open Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday - Sunday 8:30am - 4pm.

On the Dyson dc39, please explain how to clean turbo head and upholstery head. Can the clear section of the container completely come off so the dust that gets stuck in between the red and clear sections can be removed? If so, please provide instructions on how to do this.

What the different between the oldest model DC29 ALLERGY and DC39 ALLERGY?
Regards,
Dina

Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi there,
There are a few differences between these machines. The DC29 range uses Radix Cyclone technology for no loss of suction. The DC39 uses our new Radial Cyclone technology to seperate more dust and dirt from the air while maintaining suction power.
The DC39 range also uses our Ball technology, making them easier to handle and more stable.
If we can be of further assistance please email [email protected] and we will be in touch.

I am thinking of buying a dyson dc39. I have two short haired dogs that are always dropping hair and a daughter with long hair. My main aim is to pick up the hair left on all floors I.e carpet, tiles and wood but do not want to be changing heads and removing long hair from rollers all the time is this going to be a problem?

unfortunately with dyson animal you will be changing heads and the hard floor tool is a wiggly mess so hard to navigate because its structure is rotating too much during use. for the carpet tool also yes you will need to find a coin to struggle to open without ruining the cheap plastic is made of then pull rotating brush from inside take a pair of scissors cut thru the hairs then pull them out and throw them somewhere. this is by far the stupidest dyson i ever touched. totally user unfriendly! fits very little dirt in the clear container so i live alone house isn't small and i still need to empty after every vacuum and to empty is is harder than in the older models
meant to say 'house is small' as i live in a city townhouse 2bedrooms so not big at all.

Looking at getting a dyson barrel vacuum cleaner - we don't have any any animals but is it worth getting this one ( animal model ) over one of the other models? Is the suction better?
5 answers
If you have lots of carpet, I would recommend this one. I would suggest the suction would be the same. It's the attachments that make the difference. I used the comparison table on the Dyson website. http://www.dyson.com.au/vacuums/ball/ Hope this helps
Absolutely NOT! U r sincerely better much much better off with an older dyson model due to design functionality and overall friendliness of use
i disagree with jenny51. i only have 3 rooms yes all carpeted in a townhouse (just to see the area isn't massive) and within one vacuum i have to empty the clear bin (messier than with old dysons) as it reaches max limit very quickly as the brush removes layers of carpet not just dirt! you can get exactly same motor /suction power with an older model that also doesn't have a brush that ruins carpets like the triggerhead tool on the dyson animal does!

We have two "in house" dogs, we are considering updating our old Dyson to better cope with the dog hair (not a lot but still needs to be gone) what model would others suggest, we have recently purchase a battery "animal" model and it does the job superbly but a little small for the whole house.

I have just bought my Dyson multi DC39 and have used it once and am so disappointed and even wondering if I have a "dud". The suction on my low pile carpet is terrible with the $199 vacuum I previously had having more suction than the Dyson. For example, I have to go over a thread of cotton or a bit of fluff a few times before it is picked up? Please advise?
I have no animals, children just two adults in the house ... even on the wood floor it seems to push dust and crumbs around with my having to lift the Dyson broom on top to pick things up?

I find that very strange. If I was you I would contact either dyson or where you bought it from and consult them about it. It just don't sound right to me.

On the specification on the dyson website it indicates that DC39 Multifloor does not have High performance on carpets. It does say that it is suitable for carpets and hard floors but not High performance on carpets or hard floors??? I'm confused shouldn't a vacuum called Mulitfloor have high performance on carpets and hard floors? Can anyone comment on this.
4 answers
It is high performance on everything. I have owned it for a month or so now and am very happy with it.
We have found this machine to give "high performance" on both hard and carpeted floors. I would add we have two live in/out Labradors too and even without any specialised tool, (which is available if you wish), this machine does a perfect job quickly, easily and without fuss. We are more than satisfied.
The reason probably is that there are models specially focussing on carpets for instance pet hair or allergens. The brush attachments are different. By and large Dyson performance is excellent in any case.
I haven't had any issues with performance on carpets at all. The reason for buying this model for me was my house has a lot of tiles as well as carpets in the bedrooms. Don't need to keep pressing buttons transitioning from hard floor to carpets, etc.
The carpets look fresh and "combed" once vacuumed but you always have the option of getting a turbo brush, or go in for the next up model. Its a good idea to try out both machines side by side at the store to compare.
Hope this helps :)

Can you blow up air beds with this
2 answers
Hi, I don't think so, there isn't another outlet for the hose to go, so it only sucks air, not blows it out anywhere, would be good though, the suction is so fantastic, if there was a "blower" action, they would be inflated in no time, hope this helps
No, I don't see any outlets either and there are no options to reverse the airflow either.
Good luck shopping!

I got mine for $698 and that was on special the original price tag was $749, if you can get it for $585 snap it up!!!!
Hi. I paid $604.95 shipped (The shipping component was $9.04) to Bundaberg, Queensland from www.powerbuys.com.au I might add that they did not have it in stock at the time so there was a delay of several weeks before it arrived.

I hate my current vaccum it just doesn't clean three little kids mess. I really want a dyson as heard so many awesome comments. I'm in lakes entrance victoria and things are dear. Where is cheapestbplace to get one with boxing day specials now. Despearate

Hi Kirsten, I bought at Good Guys, not sure if they are in Victoria though. You should get a few prices then go to your local discounter and ask if they will match the price. I got $100 off the in store price by doing that. The Dyson is expensive but I am really happy with it.
I bought mine from http://www.powerbuys.com.au/
I found them to be the cheapest.

I am wondering if there is special attachment required for the use of wooden floor boards? I feel as though when I vacuum, it is suctioned to the ground..any hints?
3 answers
Not that I'm aware of, at least not one that comes with the vacuume (may have to purchase it seperately if it exists). I don't have that problem with it suctioning to the wooden floors. Maybe if you open up the air vent it will lessen the suction.
The Pet/Allergy one comes with the hardwood floors head. its basically a bristled head that you put on in place of the motor head. it is available seperately to purchase.
Dyson Team ..Dyson
Hi Rach & Nick,
Both Hellie Bellie and Kim31 are correct. The DC39 Multi floor has two suction release valves under the head itself if you find the suction too strong. Simply slide them towards the centre to release some suction. Alternatively, a seperate hard floor tool is available.
If we can be of further assistance please email us at [email protected] and we will be in touch.
Best wishes,
Shan
