Dyson V11 Torque Drive - Handy, Efficient and Effective
We bought the Dyson V11 Torque in May 2022 after our previous vacuum cleaner had broken down. I was sceptical to make such a big investment. However, the sales representative at The Good Guys did a wonderful demonstration and we were convinced to go for this beautiful equipment. The light weight design makes it very handy to move around with ease and with a single hand. We use it mostly on carpet and tiled surfaces and it gives the right amount of cleaning that we were after. From the demo, it will even work well on the wooden planks, vinyl flo...Read more
oring etc. With the cordless design and multiple attachments, you can reach most of the otherwise difficult areas / corners. The battery life is very good with 3 power modes - Boost, Medium and Eco - to choose from. The standout feature for my wife & I are the ease of cleaning the waste, especially the ease with which hair etc. can be cleared from the vacuum head. We will definitely recommend this product.Purchased in May 2021 at The Good Guys Physical store for $1,099.00.

Best hand held vacuum on the market
I use the Dyson V11 Torque on a daily basis; whether it’s cleaning up after breakfast or running around tidying before guests arrive. I love that it is so easy to quickly grab and clean any floor surface! The suction power is fantastic, I don’t have to go over the carpet more than once to get the cat hair out or pick up that half chewed cheerio out of the rug.
Purchased at Harvey Norman for $1,199.00.

BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!
before I used my dyson v11 for the first time I actually vacuumed the house with my previous cleaner. Once the dyson had completed its first intial 4 hour charge I then went over the house. the particles and dust it picked up was UNBELIEVABLE even after a clean with the old machine (the canister was literally filled to the brim!). We have 2 hairy dogs, and this machine has never had a blockage. I use this machine for the entire house, and love how accessible it is for the odd spillage in the kitchen mid week (my house is staying clean for longer). the machine is not heavy, easy to use, great suction, absolutely faultless. Even my husband loves it, he recently used it on the sofa and our mattress. BEST BUY EVER.
Purchased in June 2021 at Harvey Norman for $990.00.

Great for limited spaces!
This has been used successfully on carpet and linoleum flooring without having to change the head, the suction is much better than previous models. Love the compact design and not having to find a wall plug throughout the house in every room! The weight is light enough for an "older" person operating it and the design makes it very simple to empty the dust container. For such a small machine the suction is awesome, highly recommended!

Good vacuum but not perfect
i have 3 Dyson products, DC 37, V6 and V11.
V11 has very good suction, but it's much heavier than V6 but less noisy than V6.
Battery life is not as long as advertised, if you are on auto mode, it probably will be 20 mins on carpet and 30- 40 mins on tiles.
i live in a small apartment with 2 cats, V11 can help me to get rid of all the hairs and messy, the only thing is it's weight and not as easy as V6 to operate and move.

Excellent for cleaning around the house
Boasts a 60 minute battery life and convenience as you can take it around the house without needing to constantly unplug and plug in a cord. Favourite feature is that it can sense when you are on carpet to ramp up the vacuum strength without needing to change vacuum attachments.

Perfect for a small or big home
It's my first time having a cordless vacuum but it has been so helpful already. Don't need to switch modes when using it on carpet or tiles. Good battery life, can use it several times without charging. The only down side is probably the weight of it.

The future of cordless vacuums is a clear winner
I’m sure a lot of people would agree with me that vacuuming isn’t fun and it’s a big chore if you live in a big house or have pets that tend to shed their own hair regardless of how much time and effort you put into avoiding their tumbleweed from going astray.
Dyson, as you may know it, releases a new version of their cordless vacuum at least once a year. Their innovative design and cordless technology really puts aside the chore of the common lugging around the machine and changing the power point whenever the cord extends to its maximum len...Read more
gth. As I said before, it’s uncommon to hear someone say that they love vacuuming. But with Dysons cordless design and lightweight features, it surely changes my thoughts about cleaning. First of all, the V11 is not as heavy as you think despite the length of the tube. I’m not a strong person but lifting the vacuum with one hand to vacuum those random spider webs in the corner of the ceiling is effortless. Dysons cordless range is all operated by holding down the trigger for continuous suction or maybe a few pulses here and there. You are in control of the suction.Purchased in April 2021.

Versatile, but tiring to use
I’ve been using the Dyson V11 for several weeks now as part of the Ambassador Programme.
It’s ideal for blitz cleaning – when you want to spruce up the house or part of the house in a hurry.
I really like the maneuverability of the omni-directional swivel foot – vacuuming in tight spaces like gaps between the fridge and the wall is much easier with the V11 than with our conventional vacuum cleaner (a Charles).
I also really like the portability of the V11. I can just grab it in one hand, walk down the stairs with it, and start vacuumin...Read more
g the car or the granny flat. This is much easier than lugging a conventional vacuum around or having to drag a cord behind you. Another thing I like is the “storability” of the V11. It takes up less storage space than a conventional vacuum cleaner and it can be wall mounted if desired. Unlike a conventional vacuum cleaner, the V11 has a choice of three power settings – economy, auto and boost modes. It also has a display which counts down the minutes left before you need to recharge it.Purchased in March 2021.

Convenience of a Dust-Buster with the power of a full-sized vacuum cleaner
The Dyson V11 is a cordless vacuum cleaner with a built-in rechargeable battery and half a dozen attachable heads for varying vacuuming requirements.
In evaluating the Dyson V11, the only thing I have to compare it with is our 20 year old Miele standard vacuum cleaner.
After using a vacuum cleaner that needs to be plugged into a power point for so many years, my first instinct when using the cordless Dyson V11 was, as I was rounding a corner of the hallway, to check that the cord wasn't being snagged. But of course, there was no cord. It didn...Read more
't take long for me to become used to the freedom of being cordless. I don't have a device to accurately measure the amount of suction from each, but from pure observation, the Dyson in Auto mode seems to have slightly less suction than the Miele. In Boost mode, the Dyson seems to have slightly more suction, but in Boost mode, the battery life will be reduced considerably. There are three modes: Boost, Medium/Auto, and Eco. Boost will give you excellent suction, but in this mode the rechargeable battery will be quickly depleted.Purchased in March 2021.

No longer a vacuuming aid - rather a complete vacuum
Like many, I was lucky enough to review the Dyson V11 Torque Drive.
So, taking it from the top.
Opening the box, it was packaged great. A place for everything.
I was disappointed that Dyson hadn't included a small booklet with all attachment uses instead of a QR code to scan.
There was a basic picture book explaining how things plug together and how to mount the wall mount ect. but that was it.
Once charged up I was thoroughly impressed with the suction while using it on AUTO. Actually blown away. I can't believe the difference from my old Dyson and other branded stick vacuums I use (at our office) regularly....Read more
The LCD screen is a fantastic addition. To begin with I thought it was a little lame, but to know how long I have left helps me be more efficient with the time I use it. The AUTO mode selected the correct suction for the floor and so I kept to the recommendations and ran the vacuum on AUTO MODE. I got about 45 Minutes on tiles and 3 large low pile and 1 thick shag rug, so can easily do my home with charge to spare. When vacuuming on AUTO, I felt all the crafty bits and pieces my children hide among the rug being whipped up with ease. On a tiled floor it still doesn't pick up larger things and rather pushes them around on the floor unless I lift up the head and drop down on top of it and slide it back. - These things are large.. like old dried peas from my kids dinner. The catchment bin holds plenty of gunk. My older model Dyson could not be relied on for this task so was banished to the kitchen for small jobs. It does however get heavier as you vacuum. - Obviously. On the rugs it became difficult to vacuum one handed. The weight of the vacuum and the suction really needed two hands. I do wonder how a person with a full house of carpet would manage this. It would depend on the pile of the carpet too. Also, if I was vacuuming carpets or more rugs I can imagine this would use the battery life even faster so you wouldn't get through an entire carpeted home on 1 charge! The first use of this vacuum resulted in blisters on my fingers. Purely due to the weight and having to hold the trigger down the entire time. A lock for the trigger would be great - considering the improved battery life and automatic floor detection this could easily be achieved. I had no luck with our thick pile rug with the large motorized tool locking up. I changed the head to the mini motorized tool and it made it easier - however for a large rug it took a while to clean it properly and I had to lift it up constantly to avoid the tool jamming. Once done though, it was a better clean than my mop/vacuum could do as well as my old Dyson Stick. A plug in vacuum is more suited here. A not motorized head would have performed better but was not included. However, this model ran laps around my previous Dyson which wouldn't suck anything from the shag rug. Doing the hard surfaces in the house first and then coming back to any labor intensive rugs would be better so at least then you could charge up and come back to them later and give it a really good clean if you did run out of battery. Having used the vacuum for a month now and being previously accustomed to using a smaller and older Dyson stick vacuum, I noticed immediately that the V11 was no longer a vacuuming aid - rather a complete vacuum that I could easily clean my entire home with. THE TOOLS The stubborn dirt brush: I am yet to find it useful for anything. It doesn't fit in sliding door/window tracks. I can do a better job myself with a brush flicking it out and then vacuuming it. I can't see the brush itself lasting the distance for grimy dirt built up in tracks. The crevice tool was good for the inside of window sills but again you would need to be flicking up the gunk with another brush at the same time and holding the Dyson one handed and doing this could be cumbersome for some. The combination tool did the spider webs and the dust on top of the skirting, behind our freestanding bath and under cabinets that the motorized tool just couldn't get under due to it sheer size. The mini dusting brush was good for getting into the carved wood trunks that had dust built up within the etchings as well as going over the bedheads but again not a tool that was required to achieve it. The combination tool would do both of the above fine so all these extra tools are really only if you feel like changing things up. The mini motorized tool blew me away. I used it in my car and wont ever go back to the car wash vacuums with this. As a handheld it is a bulky, but it does the job and super well so I can't complain there. CHANGING TOOLS & CLEANING Swapping out the attachments you will most likely lay the vacuum down to do. Doing it one handed is hard and taking top off to empty the bin, the shaft is sometimes difficult to detach. I held it with my knees and used both hands to hold the catchment. Emptying the bin is easy. Pulling the trigger down over the bin and snapping it closed. I've only cleaned the filter once. It seems easy enough, however, living in the tropics having it out to dry almost guarantees after a while that nice white filter is going to get moldy with humidity and will need to be replaced very often. THE SUM UP The v11 is quiet. Much quieter that my old Dyson. The BOOST setting is loud. But in all honesty, you don't need it. I feel like I achieve a great clean on my home when using it and will be relying on this for day to day clean ups and cleaning everything from top to bottom. The fact that it is cordless and has great suction is really why I'd pay this price tag. The convenience of not having to plug into a socket as I progress through the house is a huge bonus. There is no unit I need to drag around attached to a stick and a powerpoint. I can vacuum my kids rooms and not worry about hitting the skirting boards and walls as I drag a vacuum behind me. I have a mop & vacuum in one that I have been using for over 2 years now for my deep cleans however it is bulky, awkward, doesn't get into the corners and needs to be plugged in. The Dyson allows me to walk around and clean each room top to bottom with just a couple of attachments conveniently clipped to the shaft. No it doesn't mop. But it now means I can go back to my simple steam mop once a week instead of dragging out the mop vacuum in one every day for quick clean ups. WOULD YOU BUY IT? All in all, for me, the Dyson V11 is worth it. I'd be more comfortable paying around the $800 mark - $1200 is steep, but with bells and whistles like this, and to know it would be a quality investment being used for well over 5 years and with the support service for anything you need in easy reach from the reputable Dyson - the price is fair. You can get other stick vacuums on the market for a fraction of the price, however the V11 is a sturdy unit with great suction and I haven't found with other cheaper units. Having an older model Dyson for many years I can vouch that they do really last the distance. Compared to our cheaper sticks we've used in an office setting with half the use that have been replaced at the end of their warranty due to poor suctions, breaking or battery life being ineffective). The only issue I'd have with the V11 is there is no interchangeable battery - so if the battery did begin to loose it's charge after 5 or 6 years I'm assuming it would be a costly replacement? The battery countdown screen is incredibly useful and I look forward to using it each time - Who can say that about vacuuming!Purchased in April 2021.

Very powerful suction. Pulls up a lot of dirt even directly after another vacuum had cleaned an area
To be upfront I am reviewing this Dyson as part of the Ambassador program. I have however have taken the time to put it to the test over several floor types and gain a variety of peoples input over the past month as if it was their own.
It's been put it to the test against a few other vacuums that we've collected over the past few years including:
a $130 Makita stick site vacuum (without battery),
a $130 cheap wet and dry,
a friend's $400-500-ish Electrolux bagless
the Aldi bagless vacuum we were given a few years ago

One major flaw but otherwise very worth it.
So another fantastic feature I realise is there now because my vacuum got blockage. My husband suck up a full piece of tissue and it got lodge into the vacuum somewhere. With any other screenless vacuums. Likely every other vacuum to date. Most people will be wondering what went wrong. Why is it acting up etc.
However with the screen on this vacuum. It showed me and pin point the place where I should check. And I found the problem in no time.
It was a very good experience that saved me hours of experimenting figuring and troubleshooting. Especially with 2 active kids around.
It's a God sent for parents.

Superior & Intelligent Handstick
I was very excited about receiving the Dyson V11 and couldn't wait to use it because I recently moved from a house with ducted vacuuming which I have always found superior to portable vacuum cleaners. Being a part of the Ambassador program gave me the opportunity to review the V11 and now that it is my only means of vacuuming, I can honestly say, it is excellent.
The first thing that stood out to me about the V11 is the size, it is substantially bigger and weighs quite a bit more than earlier models. I am very accustomed to the V7 Animal and t...Read more
he V11 makes that look like a toy. Although it is larger, it doesn’t take very long to get used to. It isn’t uncomfortable nor does it seem overly heavy when in use. As mentioned, I had the V7 Animal and ducted vacuuming in my previous house and I really only used the V7 for quick cleans in small areas because the battery just wasn't powerful enough to do an entire house. The V11 has the advantage of a much longer battery life and having the ability to automatically sense and adjust to different floor types for a better clean. My biggest issue with stick type vacuum cleaners is that on carpet they are brilliant and on hard floor surfaces they pick up dust and fluff but just move bigger particles around. This Dyson does have a + and – lever on the motorised head to adjust its brush levels. This is well worth adjusting because it can mean the difference between cleaning your floor or just pushing debris from one spot to another. I think this is a simple but huge improvement. I did find that the included manual isn’t overly helpful. Dyson’s website is much more informative and includes quick videos showing you exactly how to do things. If you've ever used a Dyson before the attachments are all very familiar. A handy attachment clip has now been included which you can place on the pole and carry a couple of the smaller/narrower tools with you. Although this is very useful, the larger attachments don’t fit into the clip due to the limited distance it sits off the pole. Emptying the bin is quick and easy for dust and other particles, however being a female with long hair I found that emptying the bin isn’t enough to rid the container of all the hair that wraps around the cyclone. It’s necessary to slide the bin container off to gain access to any hair that has wrapped around the cyclone. Using a small brush was all that was needed to flick the hair into the bin. Taking the bin off also means you can give it a wash when required and it is quite an easy process via the switch on the side of the bin.Purchased in March 2021.

Good cleaner, but don't throw away the old one just yet!
There are 2 things I really hate in life. First is garden hoses and the second is electrical devices with cords. Now I cant do much about the first one but when I was offered to test drive the Dyson v11 Torque Drive vacuum cleaner through the Ambassador Program I jumped at the idea. Just a few declarations first. I have owned two Dyson Hand-stick cleaners prior to this so I know the 'in and outs' of these Dyson products and secondly as I am retired I get to do all the home duties whilst my wife chooses to work. I use a vacuum cleaner every...Read more
day throughout our 200sqm home divided equally by carpet and tiles and the odd rug. I have a small dog that carries in all sorts of twigs, insects, and other bits and pieces throughout the day hence the need to use the cleaner daily. My first impression from the advertisements and publicity is that the v11 is Dyson's first attempt at integrating a full size main vacuum into a completely cord free device yet still having a similar but not identical profile to a hand-stick which was used for those quick cleanups, but still having a need for a full size cleaner for the big jobs. To me this is a revelation as I suffer from a severe spine disability and one of my most difficult jobs is bending down to change plugs low to the ground among other things. The v11 arrived well packaged, if not a little too much packaging, however it arrived in perfect condition. The cleaner comes with a main body, wand, and a plethora of brushes, attachments, an essential groove cleaner and of the course the main power head. The power head is noticeably heavier, bigger, and higher than previous Dyson cleaners. More on the power head later. The instructions are basic, diagram based, but very easy to follow. From arrival to operation with the power head took no more than 10 minutes. The product came half charged but recommended a full overnight charge for optimal operation. Any further information regarding the cleaner that's not in the instructions is available online but in true male fashion I just put it together without really looking at the book. Registration and warranty can be completed online, via telephone, which was my preference, or you can use the form that came with the instructions and send it 'snail' mail. I find the phone registration easy, quick, and the staff seem to know their products very well and can answer any questions you may have. They answer you immediately and there is no waiting for them to find out answers such is their excellent product knowledge. I assembled the cleaner attaching the power head which for me will be used for probably 75% of my cleaning. Upon doing so I examined underneath and noticed that it has the 2 dreaded small wheels at either side toward the front and a soft rubber boot towards the rear. On my 2 previous hand-sticks the wheels broke and wore out easily and I found out that when they do fail the whole head needs to be replaced, not just the wheels. They were my nemesis with previous hand-sticks. For those new to Dyson products, parts are readily available and quick to arrive but come at a high price. I noticed the rubber on the rear boot was very soft and I am now wondering how long these items will last with so much work ahead of them. After assembly I was away and immediately noticed that although much heavier to other models this was far more balanced when using on the floors, and considerably more quiet with a much lower tone. It had the feeling of a quality product. I immediately noticed that it had great suction and was easy to push. Although it came in 3 settings for speed and 3 for the power head height I found the middle setting on the normal speed was best for my tiles and low pile carpet. As I previously mentioned I am disabled but at my preferred settings it was easy to push, great in turning, especially around table legs etc and was not hard on my back. It was only after cleaning the whole house in one unbroken session that I started to ache. I used all the brushes throughout the trial and they worked fine and performance was normal. I attached the charging mount to the wall which fitted the holes of the previous v6 model and it has a tiny 'footprint' for smaller homes. Its easy to place the machine in the mount and of course charges itself and via lights it informs the operator when its full recharged. I did noticed that the bristles on one of the brushes touches the wall when in the mount and over time this will cause the brush to have an indentation. The remaining attachments sit on a nifty holder on the main wand which I found very handy. One click and they attach or detach. I was impressed with the cleaning of this device over the next couple of weeks and it does a great job. The container fills quickly but this just indicates its effectiveness and probably the failing ability of my old corded cleaner. Its practical and smart as it tells the operator remaining battery time which varies with speed differences and floor surfaces. The build quality overall is excellent and the main body is strong. It cleaned dog hair, small rocks, which was a challenge with my previous models, but needed two swipes to collect fine pine bark. After cleaning my entire house I always still had enough battery time to do it all again and clearly battery life is not an issue for an average home. Using it on stairs is fantastically easy and there is no risk ever of tripping on those pesky cords again so it also makes the whole experience safer. Suction was consistently excellent even as the dust bowl filled. After that its easy to detach the wand, one lever to push it was empty and ready to go again. The cloth filter was also easy to remove, clean and re attach. The cleaner is made for ease and simplicity. The downsides I found with cleaning were, due to the power head being higher and wider, many areas under low cabinets could not now be reached and narrow areas that were once accessible with the previous hand-sticks were too narrow. I now had to use the other attachments which for me with a disability is not as easy as for others. I think that Dyson seriously missed the boat in not including a flexible attachment as standard and trading off one of the brushes would suffice. Now I say this because as most people realise you sometimes need to get into cupboards, and other nooks and crannies and the bulk of the cleaner now precludes this even in its shortened version. A normal household vacuum cleaner also needs to clean cars and this cleaner failed miserably. Both my wife and I attempted to clean our Toyota Camry and yet again the bulkiness made this impossible. It could not reach the hard to clean areas under and alongside seats. Had there been a flexible hose about 60 to 80cm in length with the ability to attach a groove cleaner this problem would be sorted quickly. Have no doubt this is an expensive cleaner and its a failure on Dyson's part to not supply a hose as standard. I have a $35 cheap corded cleaner that cleans our car better hence the reason you should not rush to clear out the old faithful model just yet. I fear that the same problem will occur should you wish to use it in the tight confines of a caravan or similar. I also found it very tiring and hard on my back when I used it lifted above my waist and shoulders to clean curtains, ceiling fans and similar. It needs to be done in short bursts and can be taxing for people that are not completely able bodied. Unlike when using a standard vacuum hose it needs to be held with both hands. My one other gripe is the failure to not have a dedicated on/off button. If this cleaner is to replace the normal household cleaner then it needs to be used without the need to hold the power switch down for long periods. I do not know of any other cleaner used as a full household cleaner that does not have this feature. My wife has had carpel tunnel and despite it now being repaired she still finds it hard to hold onto the button and push with the stronger suction for longer periods. This is an ergonomic issue again easily overcome with a re design. The battery life is more than long enough to clean a whole house and I think battery savings would be minimal should the cleaner be in the continuous on position . My 73 year old neighbour also used the cleaner for a day and she stated this single issue would preclude her from buying this cleaner.Purchased in March 2021.

Typical Dyson Design - Functional, Flexible and Well-Built
I received the Dyson v11 Torque Drive as part of the Ambassador program, and was honestly, thrilled. Dyson are known for their quality and well-thought out designs, and this machine is no exception.
I already own a Dyson Animal (corded) vacuum, and it's great being able to compare the two.
The design is fantastic - every detail so thoroughly considered, even down to the charging dock and storage for the MANY attachments. It is sleek, modern and (lets face it) quite attractive for a vacuum cleaner! (I adore the purple shaft!)
I love how...Read more
the shaft can be removed to make it more of a ‘dust buster’ arrangement too – perfect for vacuuming the car or smaller spaces. I love the variety and sheer quantity of attachments. A suggestion for Dyson though - some directions for what they're best used for would have been a real blessing, and directions on how best to use the power-head would have been great too. It was a case of trial and error to decide how best to use the different settings on the power-head - though in saying that, once I figured it out the suction on my carpets and rugs is spectacular! The LED display panel is amazing and easy to use/read. It gives you a timer for how long you have left on your battery life, letting you easily switch between the three different power modes (being Eco, Moderate/Auto and Boost).Purchased in March 2021.
