I am going to the USA on a ski holiday and we want to do a snowmobile tour with a licensed company from Teton Mountain to Yellowstone on groomed trails. Does your insurance cover this? In particular does this cover personal liability on a motarised vehicle in the form of a snow mobile (which I will be driving with a tour guide.)

Hi Kaz250,

Thanks for your enquiry. Sounds like a great trip that you've got planned!

With our Snow Sports Plus policy, we do cover snowmobiling. However, with regards to personal liability on a snowmobile, it is not covered.

As stated on page 54 on the PDS,

"We will not pay for anything you have to pay because of a legal claim against you for causing bodily injury, death or loss or damage to, or of, property, if the claim arises out of or is for:
The ownership, custody or use of any firearm or weapon, aerial device, watercraft or mechanically propelled vehicle."

Can I 1) edit my FastCover Travel Insurance Review now awaiting verification ?
2) or ask you to add the 2 sentences paragraph below?
3) or do I have to include them in an entirely separate?
Option 2 is my preferred one as the other 2 will appear fairly clunky and may give the wrongful impression that I've been placed under duress by FastCover.

Addendum:
"My warning regarding adequacy of Medical Cover in North America is in no way a criticism of FastCover.
The $40,000 Medical Cover limit is made quite clear on their website."

Hi KTout,

Thanks for your question!

Jet Boating isn't something we automatically include in our policies or in our Adventure Pack. Please see our list of activities here: https://fastcover.com.au/what-we-cover/activities. You can still have a policy with us you just couldn't claim for anything related to Jet Boating.

If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to email me at [email protected] or call on 1300 409 322.

Hi Tegan,

Thanks for your question!

There is quite a bit of information about luggage and personal effects. The best thing for you to do is have a look at pages 45-49 in our online PDS where it lists the terms and conditions plus what to do if damage/theft occurs to your items.

Online PDS link: https://fastcover.com.au/pds

Also here is the link to our coupon code page: https://fastcover.com.au/coupon-codes

If you scroll down the coupon page you will see some options for discounts, just pick the one you want and proceed to the quote page!

Hope that helps! If you have some specific claims questions then the number for the claims team is 1300 409 322. Listen to the menu and select the Hollard Claims Option. Let the claims team know that you want to buy a policy however you want to know what happens in the scenarios you've mentioned.

Hi I have pre existing medical conditions.. a clot in brain artery that has been there for 5 years and a hemangioma spinal tumour that I have had surgery on to clear away from my spinal cord and 2 radiation sessions. Can I get cover for these conditions if I go on a cruise?thanks jen

Fast Cover Travel Insurance
Fast Cover T.Fast Cover Travel Insurance

Hi Jen, Thank you for your question! The conditions you have mentioned wouldn't be covered under Fast Cover policies. Each company is quite different however with us we automatically cover 43 pre-existing medical conditions, please see our list here: https://fastcover.com.au/what-we-cover/pre-existing-medical-conditions. If you have a condition we don't cover usually you can still have a policy you just wouldn't be covered for that particular condition. The exception to that rule is blood thinners, if you take a blood thinner then we can't medically cover you at all. If you like, give me a call on 1300 409 322 or email me at [email protected] and I can put you through to an affiliate who may be able to assist you. Kind regards, Vanessa.

My mom is elderly and my concern is that if my Mom passes away, I will not be able to get my full payment reimbursed. We will have 8 people in the house, all family. Hi Kay, thanks for sending us your question! There is provision with the Cancellation benefit on our Comprehensive & Standard Saver policies to claim for the scenario you have described however there are limitations on the amount you can claim for & a few qualifiers. One being is the age of the relative. You're not covered for relatives over the age of 84. If you like, I'd love to give you a call to help you & to discuss the cover in more depth. Can you send me your contact details & a good time to call at [email protected]? Kind regards, Vanessa.

Hi Kay, Thank you for sending me your contact details. As you are based in the US Fast Cover unfortunately can't issue you with a valid policy. Hello!
Thank you for your enquiry. Yes, where you're unable to locate a receipt or bank statement to prove ownership of the stolen item, you can provide the Claims team with photos of the items. You do also need to make sure you report the theft and obtain a police report for the stolen item. Hope that helps to clarify things for you. - Sally - Customer Service.

Which of these statements applies when making a claim?

a)We will pay your cancellation fees and lost deposits for travel and accommodation arrangements that you have paid in advance and cannot recover in any other way if your journey is cancelled or shortened at any time through circumstances neither expected nor intended by you and ***outside your control.***
---
Nor will we pay if your cancellation fees or lost deposits arise because of:
f) Delays or rescheduling by a bus line, airline, shipping line or rail authority.
g) The financial collapse of any transport, tour or accommodation provider.
h) The mechanical breakdown of any means of transport.

My level of ESP is not well developed, so apart from using those powers, how would I determine if points f, g and h will occur - aren't these unexpected? Perhaps with insider knowledge, I could determine g, but even the pilot of a plane couldn't predict h.

This is a SERIOUS QUESTION. A genuine robust answer would be really helpful.

The text you’ve sent me is from pages 31 & 32 of our PDS in regards to ‘SECTION 1 – Cancellation Fees & Lost Deposits’. This is a benefit that starts as soon as a traveller buys their Multi trip, Standard or Comprehensive policy. Now if you need to make a claim and it was in relation to cancelling your travels and you needed to claim back money/points you had lost then the inclusions and exclusions listed on pages 31 & 32 would apply. Even though point’s f, g and h are yes unexpected they are an exclusion to being covered under the Cancellation benefit. It’s like all of our benefits, there are situations that are covered and situations that aren’t. This is why I always advise people to read the benefits rules in the PDS (www.fastcover.com.au/pds) before purchasing so they know what situations they’re covered for. If you do have any further queries please email me at [email protected] and I will get back to you quicker within business hours or call me on 1300 409 322. Kind regards, Vanessa.

I have never had to claim anything on travel insurance before and I'm currently shopping around for a new company. I have been alerted by friends and family that many company's require receipts for lost or stolen property and that this can be made quite difficult whilst overseas. Do you require comprehensive receipts for all items/luggage/clothes/jewelery that may need to be claimed if a bag was lost or stolen? Also what is the general time frame for payouts on successful claims, if required? Cheers

2 answers
Fast Cover Travel Insurance
Fast Cover T.Fast Cover Travel Insurance

Hi Daisy!

Receipts are obviously ideal as proof of purchase however I have checked with Allianz that taking a photo of the gear you’re taking and providing this as part of the claim is accepted. If possible gather the card statements before travelling and have them handy should you need to make a luggage claim whilst away. You can also submit a claim once you have returned. Please have a look at what is and isn’t covered with the luggage benefit. This is found on pages 38-40 in our PDS - https://fastcover.com.au/pds.

In relation to payouts on successful claims, Allianz say “they will consider your claim within 10 business days of receiving the completed claim form and all necessary documentation. If they need additional information, a written notification will be sent to you within 10 business days.”
I can’t provide something in concrete as this time frame does depend on the circumstance. Often the reason it is delayed is because people don't provide the right information and there can be a bit of back and forth.

Hope that helps! If you would like to discuss this with me please call the Sydney office on 1300 409 322. I am here until 5pm then back in the office from 9am tomorrow. – Vanessa :-)

I would highly recommend not choosing Fast Cover! We have not received majority of pre paid expenses back after i was sick in hospital. Their policy states otherwise. They paid my medical expenses although refuse to pay for pre booked accomodation and Travel expenses for other countries! It took us forever dealing with the company as i was critically ill! If you are sick dying in hospital, don’t expect to get mojarity of your prepaid expenses back, we are still nearly $5000 out of pocket and are taking it further to be reimbursed. Absolutely appauling company!

Hi Betty, thank you for your enquiry. Yes, if you have a Europe policy, the policy will cover you for travel around Europe, and also Asia (except Japan). For the purposes of our policies, the Asia region sits 'under' the Europe region so if you buy the higher region, travel to the regions under it would also be covered.. Hi! Thank you for your enquiry. Our Comprehensive and Standard policies do provide Cancellation cover for these unexpected and unforeseen situations, and you would be able to put a claim in for all the payments and deposits that you have made for your trip. There are conditions though - cancellation cover does depend on whether any of you have pre-existing medical conditions, and also the age of your son's nanna (if she is 85 years of age or over, there's no cover should she fall ill). We have a list of pre-existing medical conditions that we do cover for, and anything out of that list we aren't able to cover. If you would like a quote for your trip, feel free to send us the following information to [email protected] and we would be happy to put together a quote for you: departure and return dates, your current age and whether or not you are going on a cruise on the sea or ocean. Alternatively, feel free to give us a call on 1300 409 322. Looking forward to assisting you further with travel insurance for your trip! - Sally - Customer Service.

One of our travelling partners has cancer. Are they able to be covered by your policy and what is required of them? What exclusions would be enforced if they were to take out this cover?

1 answer
Fast Cover Travel Insurance
Fast Cover T.Fast Cover Travel Insurance

Hey Tam! Thanks for your question :)

So the beauty with us is we don't require any medicals & we automatically cover 44 pre-existing medical conditions. Quite simply if a traveller has a pre-existing that isn't on the list we usually can still provide a policy for them they just couldn't claim in relation to it.

In regards to the cancer unfortunately this is something that isn't on our pre-existing list: https://fastcover.com.au/what-we-cover/pre-existing-medical-conditions

Therefore the traveller would not be covered for anything related to it however they could claim for other medical issues unrelated.

If you'd like a quote that includes cover for the cancer I can refer them to another insurer. Please email me at [email protected] or call me on 1300 409 322 where we can discuss this further.

Kind regards,
Vanessa

Hi Arnold,

Thank you for your query. Our Multi trip policies are available to travellers under the age of 60, so you can certainly take out a Multi trip policy if you're both under 60 years of age. If you are 60 years of age or over, we can still offer you separate single policies - and what we sometimes do find is that, depending on where you go, how often you go and how long you go for, it does sometimes ends up being cheaper or a similar price to a Multi trip policy.

We actually also have an Easter sale with up to 30% OFF our policies today - would you like a quote for your trips?
You can get a quote:

Hi Dusty13,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Cover for your hip replacement and drop foot would be excluded from our policies.

We can still issue a policy for you, but any claims arising from, or related to the pre-existing conditions you have described would not be covered.

Claims unrelated to these conditions would be covered as normal as outlined in our Product Disclosure Statement (http://fastcover.com.au/pds).

We don't require any medical forms to be completed before you buy a policy. In the event of a claim you may be asked to provide your medical history.

If you would like cover for your condition, please contact Allianz on 02 9998 7854, they can take you through a medical assessment over the phone and
may be able to prepare a tailored policy that covers your condition.

Hope that helps, if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us.
