Worst dryer ever!
I've had this fixed a few times now, mostly for an error message because it just stops 10 minutes in with no heat so they fix the sensor on it, and once for the drum being noisy and once for not spinning so the bearings I think they said were broken...

Works like you'd expect, has few small downfalls but I'm still happy with this product
PROS: Very large capacity, and easy to use. Has a useful 15min "freshen" setting, and even a removable rack for shoes etc. Water tank has huge capacity so doesn't need to be emptied overly often.
CONS: Seems to bundle sheets into a big ball so the centre is often still damp. Have had a few error messages, but open/close door and press start again seems to fix?!
I don't have any problem with this dryer, happy with my purchase.

What a disappointment
Bought the DE8060P2 one week ago.Its a condenser model with delay start. Now I wanted the delay start because have a smart power meter and power is half price between 9pm and 7am.You guessed it, delay start is faulty.Rang Fisher Paykel, understandably no technician will come out for at least 4 weeks. It dries the clothes very well and you can experiment and change the settings to suit what you put in.It does really crease the sheets but dries them ok.Being of the older type now have to stay up until 9pm to use the damn thing until fixed.Disregard the part about the delay start.Apparently it tumbles the clothes every quarter of an hour for 30 seconds, but there is nothing in the book to say this.Retravision sorted me out.

Fisher & Paykel 8Kg Condensing Cloths Dryer DE8060P2
I purchased this cloths dryer from Masters in 21/4/2016, The first machine was faulty straight out of the box due to the drum not turning so I didn't start using until I received a replacement on 13/5/16. The idea of the machine is great and it does a great job of drying your cloths, shoes and sheets. But keep in mind it does tangle the sheets up even with the reverse drum. Over the years its had very little use as its just me and until recently its stopped heating up and the drum has become really noisy, to me it sounds like the bearings are o...Read more
n there way out, I wouldn't know until I pay the costly call out fees. For the price of the machine I expected a lot more use out of it. I would of been lucky to of used the machine once a month and the reason why I bought this product was for the rainy days and over the years we havn't had many. For the price I paid you expect quality. The machine only has 2 years warranty and now I can clearly see why. If I was a family I would say you would be lucky if it lasted 2 years. Very expensive machine if you need to replace after the 2 years is up. If I had my time again I would be looking at brands with bigger warranties. I wouldn't buy this product again. If Fisher & Paykel are going to make throw away items they should price them accordingly.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Poor quality, only lasted 2 years before heater failure. Tangles towels
The dryer was fine but after two years had a sensor or heater fault.
It also smells of burning electric or plastic like it is overheating.
Nice design but tangles sheets and seems to be of very poor quality of manufacture.

Wow, This is rubbish.
Bad customer Experience, Dryer is only 3 years old and I get major works done every 18 months.
I am amazed at the amount of complaints about this DE8060P2 on your site. It has really disappointed a lot of Consumers.
I paid top dollar for the under bench pair and have had trouble every 6 to 12 months with one of them.
Last time the washing machine gave me a fault code for a failed pump. My Wife Identified it an and called F and P with the issue. She advised it was a failed Pump and the tech showed up 2 weeks later without the pump. He advised...Read more
it would be another 2 weeks and $140. She sourced locally in 2 days and I fixed for $60. This time I got no help with the Dryer. They Have changed Rollers, Guides, Capacitors, and now the Motor and drive pulley bearing is about to go. They offered to fix if it was something they had fixed before but I know it is something different. This time it will cost for the visit and the repair, No thanks. Does not deliver what it promises
If it the product says it dries up to 8kg, you expect to be 8kg for any function, with no exclusions. The customer service, which I waited over one hour to be attended, informed that it's recommended only 4kg for sheets.
I tried a load with only two sheets and it just makes a big ball dry outside and moisture inside. My washing machine of the same brand was serviced 3 times in 6 months and still have issues.

Do NOT buy this dryer
Auto sensing function doesnt fully dry the clothes. Need to reset on manual to finish it off. Rough on clothes. Poor door seal which results in a small puddle of water after each cycle. Worst of all the drum guides perish prematurely (within 12 months with regular use) leading to loud thumping sounds during operation. Seriously regret buying...

This is worse than the entry level models....
This drier features a whole lot of “auto programmes” which do not ever dry clothes - they remain damp. The sheets setting tangles all your sheets into a hard elongated ball, and then the outside layer gets super hot, while the inside is still wet. Similarly, the time setting of 30/60/90 mins does the same. Basically, these manual settings are the only way you’ll get things dry. But you’ll need to set a timer on your phone and go down and untangle/rearrange things every 15 mins. I wished I had kept my simple ED56. It is 10x the dryer this piece of crap will ever be

It's a Lemon - avoid !!!
Purchased this dryer May 2017 from Appliances Online. Dryer failed twice shortly after for same fault - making loud, broken, grinding sound inside. Rectified on warranty service calls July and September 2017. The motor burnt out and had to be replaced November 2017. F&P refusing to replace/ refund the item which is against Australian Consumer Law, as this is a major fault. No one would have purchased knowing it would break down 3 times within 6 months.
Another service call June 2022 - just after 2 year Warranty Period has expired. Drum bearing...Read more

Failed just after the 2 year warranty had expired
I was never happy with the dryer as I felt it took too long to dry items (in spite of preset recommendations in manual) and you could only put a few items in for each cycle. Nothing ever dried properly and I was constantly turning off the lint filter alarm in spite of the filter having been cleaned before each new cycle. Just as the 2 year warranty had expired, the heater was even more inefficient and there was an electrical "burn" smell. I was concerned that it would catch on fire so left it to cool down then tried again - same thing. Cou...Read more
ldn't get a technician out for weeks so I just let it go for a few months. Second time around - same thing, no available technician. Mind you when I did call for help, they said I was probably overloading it (no I wasn't). So I now have a very expensive electrical item collecting dust and taking up space in my laundry. I do not recommend purchasing at all - very disappointing.Purchased in September 2021 at The Good Guys Physical store for A$1,000.00.

Very unhappy
Dryer stopped turning and heating just after the 2 year warranty period. We had to wait 3 weeks for a technician to come out to fix it, and we still had to pay for parts. A day after it is ‘fixed’ and I try to use it and the same issue is happening again, only this time with a slight burning smell, so another 3 week wait for it to be hopefully fixed. I was told that I was probably overloading the machine but I have weighed every load of washing I have done since I was told that and not one has been over the weight limit of the dryer. Really not happy that an $800 appliance just makes it past the warranty period.

Just waiting for it to blow up!
Have never really been happy with this dryer, not drying properly, sheets and towels balling up. Now just out of warranty it is making the same noise as many others are reporting. I had a service guy come out last week, F/P payed for parts I payed for call out $160. Less than 1 week and it is making the same noise. Will be contacting F/P again after the Easter break to fix again at their expense(surely there is warranty on their own work), If this happens again I will be calling for a refund. Always been happy with F/P products but bought the...Read more

Worst dryer we have owned
This dryer does not perform as advertised, it the worst appliance we have owned. Sheets end up a tight, hot, wet ball. Lint filter alarm constantly sounds despite being clean. Drying takes hours, preset settings do not result in dry items and running them multiple times does not resolve. We have never successfully dried anything in this dryer, we revert to hanging our items back out on a line to get them dry. Such a disappointing, expensive purchase. F&P sent us a link to their troubleshooting website which I found quite patronising having trawled through this site for months looking for a resolution. F&P need to remove this product from the market, you are falsely advertising.

Terrible Product - Repaired 3 times within 2 years for same fault its a LEMON
Dryer has failed for same fault 3 times making loud sound, broken component inside.
F&P refusing to replace/ refund the item which is against Australian Consumer Law. As this is a major fault:
No one would have purchased knowing it would break 3 times within 2 years 3 months.
Fault causes friction which could lead to a fire rendering it unsafe.
Terrible Customer service, say has to break a 4th time before will look at replacement - i suspect trying to take out of warranty.
Surely replacing the same part is not working as it last less than 6 mo...Read more

Disappointing
Purchased in Aug 2016 and lightly used, have been very disappointed with this dryer. Have had many excellent F & P appliances in the past however this one disappointing. Bed sheets roll up in to balls immediately and don’t dry; the load sensor doesn’t work m, therefore timing needs adjusting numerous times each load; and after 2 years of light use.... a loud grinding sound coming from within. Not expecting these problems when the unit is so new and lightly used. Very disappointing.

Has issues but company fixed on good will, which I was thankful for.
Started being very loud and maybe 8 months of using, so had technician quote it needing new wheel that drum rolls on, as the old ones disintegrate. I didnt have an invoice and shop was closed down, but they really kindly replaced wheels on good will, so that was very good service. Fingers crossed no more problems occur.

Kelly F.asked
Won't spin. Making humming noise. Is this a easy fix
1 answer
Hi Kelly F, I've just recently pulled apart my machine and waiting on parts. From what I can see in my machine there is a rubber belt going around the drum, in your machine that could of snapped from wear and tear and the humming noise could be the electric motor spinning freely due to the snapped belt around the drum or could be the roller where the belt connects to the motor. If you were thinking of fixing your machine I would also consider replacing the Drum Guides as well as they are prone to disintegrate. There easy to replace and I had just replaced mine for the part it was 42.00 for both rollers. One on each side of the machine and there held in by 1 nut each. I'm not a qualified technician, just guessing what could be wrong with your machine. You wont know what's wrong until a technician opens it up to inspect. I'm not sure how much a technician will charge to tell you what's wrong but that's something you will have to take into consideration as the cost of labour and parts might not be worth fixing, I pulled mine apart myself that's the only reason why I fixed mine as I had more wrong with mine than I think you have with yours. For you I think a drum belt wouldn't cost no more than 60.00 again that's just guessing and then you would have your labour on that. If your paying someone to pull your machine apart I would do the Bearing Front Drum Guides at 42.00 as they are a common problem they disintegrate and cause the drum to be really noisy and vibrate when turning. I hope this helps and if you have any other question feel free to ask, Sorry for the late reply.

Does anyone know if the drum roller disintegration problem has been resolved? I had the rollers replaced 3 times and I’m not sure if it’s the same problem again. I bought it in 2015. I don’t want to buy another one if this issue hasn’t been resolved.

we just had to have ours changed. wouldn't use the dryer more than once a month and there is only 2 of us in the house. very surprised to find the rollers had totally collapsed. The Tec said the replacement rollers were much stronger and they are fitted to the new machines. we had to pay to have ours fixed.
Thanks for that. Fortunately I didn’t have to pay but I had 3 sets in 3 years. In the end I bought a new Bosch one last month. I use the dryer a lot but @the rate the rollers were disintegrating, I can’t wait around for a trades person to come around and fix.
