An example in how a customer should be treated!
After some very frustrating times with our local flightcentre. I have just been speaking to a lady from the customer care team! Our issue is far from being solved. But it was lovely to speak to someone so professional who was willing to listen and understand. I wish I could remember her name. When I do I will post it on here as she was a credit to flight centre! All the info I can offer is that she was from the WA side of customer care!

I have now been waiting over 2 months for a refund. They do not respond to emails quickly rather a 15 business day turn around, if you are lucky. Cant go to my local store as they've locked themselves inside. They did not advise me that they had stood down my consultant (or whatever they call them), and no one contacted me to let me know or kept me updated on what was happening.
They've complained that they've got a huge backlog to get through, that's what happens when you terminate your staff, they could have all been receiving their Job Keeper payments.
Just want my refunds, nothing more nothing less. Future me will book everything on my own.

Your stall tactics to give us our money back, and the hidden fees that you claim the airlines are charging, yet you don’t give us an itemised invoice of these fees, even though we have asked on numerous occasions is appalling and criminal. Up to 6 months to receive a refund
Cruise line cancelled cruise prior to COVID-19 lock down. Originally told we would need to pay $1200 cancellation fee or accept voucher. Complained to head office and was reduced to $600.00.
ACCC changed rules and now we will receive full refund, only catch is we have to wait up to 6 months.

Flight Centre travel refunds
I've been battling Flight Centre for more than two months for refunds for Covid 19-related international flight ticket cancellations. The airline, Emirates, approved all refunds weeks ago but Flight Centre claims either that the airline is not passing the money on, or it's busy processing a backlog of refunds. There's no timetable, or even a firm commitment, to repay your money. The company can access JobSeeker to keep its staff on to deal with this but has stood down most of them. I notice on this forum that Flight Centre doesn't bother to respond to criticism, responding only to the infrequent positive reviews.

Excellent on past performance
My wife and I have been customers of Flight Centre Highton,Geelong for many years and have really appreciated the excellent help that the staff have given to us including one time when we were in Madrid and found out that there was a major typhoon heading for Hong Kong,our transit stop on the way home. I was readily able to contact the staff on the weekend who reorganized our flight with a different carrier through an alternative transit stop. ong Kong as be fell many others as we read in the news. We had two trips booked through Flight Centre recently, One was a short stay in Tasmania and one to Europe which we have had cancelled. With our Tasmanian trip the amount was fully refunded and we now have a credit note to use to book prior to next March. This credit we received very promptly and we will make sure it is used hopefully later this year. Our European trip was due to commence a on the 15th May and while we had extra insurance cover for any situation whatsoever we had to cancel our trip due to impending closure of activities we wished to undertake in Europe. It wasn't long after that all our flights were cancelled by the airline that Flight Centre had booked us on (at our request) and we are currently awaiting a refund. We have been told this will be 12 weeks i.e early June, so hopefully it will be forthcoming by then. I am hopeful that Flight Centre can advise their customers where they are currently up to with refunds, e.g. refunds have been processed up to a certain date, or difficulties they are experiencing with the airline with whom the booking was made. I think being proactive and explaining to individual customers where their refund lies is better than hearing all sorts of ever longer time delays and it may just help to reduce some of the angst that I am reading especially at this time when there are even greater pressures and refunds may be desperately needed by customers. In normal circumstances refunds can take up to 12 weeks, as we are reliant on receiving the funds back from the supplier before we are able to pass them on to you. Please note that the time to issue a refund varies per supplier. If we have received funds from the supplier, the store will lodge a refund request with our Centralised Refunds team. very poor customer service
We were due to travel on March 12. In the thee weeks before this we asked (on three separate occasions) to postpone the trip because we could see it would likely be disrupted. We were told any change would be a ‘full cancellation’. The cost of the trip was over $25,000. Flight Centre told us the cancellations were enacted the day after we left India, so we felt happy that we would get at least some money back. Flight Centre’s response since that time has been poor. We waited 28 days, after which time they said the refunds would be able to be processed (and now it’s more than two months). They blame their suppliers - Adventure World Travel - and say they can’t contact hotels in India because of lockdown but I have been able to contact most of them myself, and had replies, too. Draw your attention to Flight Centre's service when we were stuck in Cyprus
Me and my daughter were in Cyprus and could not leave on our Qatar airlines return ticket from Melbourne to Larnaca (Cyprus) due to the Covid19 lockdown. However our Australian Embassy in Nicosia (Tonia) managed to get us on a UK charter flight to Manchester via Doha to Melbourne recently. We required wheelchair assistance and medical oxygen so it was not a straight forward flight.

ringing us home. Flight Centre's Burwood (closed now but Michael booked it) and the Camberwell office (Ben currently) went all out to help us return home. From helping with rapid clearance for our medical requirements (this is not easy) and liaising with Qatar which involved MULTIPLE changes to bookings and working outside normal hours, Ben at Flight Centre Camberwell managed to do this. We had to email their emergency call centre in Brisbane too and they responded efficiently within an hour. There is no way I would have got through to Qatar call centre to organise all this. We had no way of getting out of Cyprus until the end of June.1 comment

Flight Centre - NEVER AGAIN
We booked last June 2022, about $2500 for 4 to Bali. No mention of cancellation fees. After COVID and cancellation of all Jetstat flights and all travel Jetstar were happy to fully refund and did so quickly according to local Flight Centre -- a few months ago. Still waiting - Flight Centre obviously holding on to people's money to keep them afloat. Through Katie at Flight Centre Glen Waverley we purchased return July 2020 flights Melbourne - Paris with Qatar Airways + travel insurance for the same. We paid $3594 for our flights and $385 for our insurance.
I was feeling worried about the possibility of obtaining a refund, given the number of very negative reviews on Product Review. It seemed almost guaranteed that we would have to stump up the cancellation fee.

We assumed it was because Katie would be dealing with a huge volume of panicked clients due to covid-19. After a few weeks, we were contacted by Katie's manager, Lauren, who explained that Katie was no longer with the company (too bad, as we really liked Katie). My Wife and Son were booked for an overseas trip to leave today 7/05/2020. This trip was booked all prior to this Co-vid 19 starting. This trip now has been cancelled by Flight Centre who are now refusing to Refund the money that was paid for the 2 fares.
Initial conversation resulted with the understanding that there would be a refund if the airlines cancelled and were unable to provide the service that was paid for for that period.

No surprises here when you are dealing with smoke and mirrors, and deceit.
After receiving the email on Saturday night, stating that the $300 per person cancellation fee would be waived for booking cancellations due to Covid - 19.
Contacted Flight Centre today to cancel our flights and get a full refund which Thai Airlines is offering.
Guess what?
“The $300 cancellation fee waiver is only until 31st July, 2020”
Conveniently, 4 days prior to our planned departure on 4th August, 2020.

First and last time! Absolutely disgraceful behaviour.
Booked and paid for in full a $3,000 package.
The corona virus meant Flight Center was unable to offer the service to me despite me being willing to go and never once asking for my package to be cancelled.
I naturally expected a full refund but was shocked to be offered only $500 and a $900 flight voucher. This was a $1,400 offer out of just shy of $3,000!
2 weeks later and still $0 refunded by this dodgy corportation.

ACCC taking Flight Centre to court
The only reason flight centre is waiving their outrageous cancellation fees they charged customers when the airline cancelled the flights is because thousands complained to ACCC and ACCC threatened to take Flight Centre to court if they didn't waive the fee.
Flight Centre didn't even care when many irate customers started talking to the press and 6000 expressed interest in class action on facebook page. The only reason they backed down was because they most likely would have lost the court battle with ACCC and it would have cost them more. ...Read more
Their many weeks refund processing time is another one of their lies. The industry standard is the funds is held by the travel agent until you board the flight. All your money is still being held by Flight Centre but they are deliberately delaying your refund by weeks. Remember this next time you are stupid enough to consider booking with them again. Refund my money
During this time of pandemic unfortunately had to cancel approx $10000 worth of European trip for myself and wife. The cancellation process has been a nightmare it seems that fc was trying to take advantage and profiteer over this terrible time with cancellation fees.When service had been cancelled by operators and operators had refunded in full to fc and they are saying refunds will take 12 weeks and they have refunds just sitting in there bank accounts. I had to cancel my Italy holiday (departure August 2020) and was very professionally assisted by a FC team member in Perth Office. He obtained guarantees for refunds from Qatar return airfares and my 3 Italy tours.
He then handed over my case file to
FC Garden City, Booragoon, WA where I had originally booked. On 2nd June I went to FC Garden City and signed a form with details of my new Bank Account into which the refund will be paid. I was told it will take 2 weeks to process and get in my Bank Account.
Can someone at FC Centralised Refunds Team reply to let me know how long it will be after lodging my Bank details on 2nd June please? Margaret B.

I cannot help you. My claim was very small was a part of a holiday that we took and returned to Adelaide the day before the borders closed. It is the attitude of the staff at my local Flight Centre in following my claim through that I appreciate. They are all struggling yet their courteous and professional attitude did not waver
We have also had pleasant service from the staff at Doncaster Shoppingtown store. However, the firm’s policy of delaying refunds places their staff in an awful position. I feel sorry for individual staff members who bear the brunt of refusing refunds and who have to cope with client’s disappointment . Despite having had excellent service from staff, we will never deal with FC again due to management policies.
If you call customer service, you get a recorded message telling you that they won’t discuss refunds. So, while they hide behind a recorded message, staff in their agencies are left to refuse refunds and cop any abuse.NOT. IMPRESSIVE !

The only way to get answer on a firm date of refund is to get on a current affair and shame them. It would great to the money back after cancelling 3 months ago, it may even be acceptable to get a firm date. My other idea would be to say I have only a few weeks to live and I need the money to pay for my funeral. However, luckily this not true. Second thoughts this mob would not care if it was true all they are interested is keeping our money for long as possible with lame excuses.

I am very disappointed with their attitude. The hotels which we booked have refunded, in full, our payments. Unfortunately, this money was sent to our booking agent, Flight Centre who were entrusted with the task of forwarding it to us. Up to a six month delay! I am now an ex client!
Did you see Miriam Margolyes program on Tuesday night? Comforting to see the luxurious accommodation of Flight Centre owners. Meantime, we, their unfortunate customers wait for refunds !
