Hi,
Does anyone with mate communicate use the VoIP service with a iiNet BoB2 modem? Did yours configure? I can’t seem to get mine working? My internet works perfectly with the modem, it’s only the VoIP that I’m having problems with.
Thanks Samantha

Vanessa S.MATE Communicate
Hi samanthanaidu94,
We have customers using various BYO devices with our VoIP services, unfortunately each device is different and the settings may not always be the same on one device compared to another.
For the majority of devices, the VoIP settings we supply are sufficient to configure the service.

Hi YGevans,
Can you please provide your account number so we can look into the issue for you?
This sounds like a WiFi range issue, please note that there are a lot of variables with WiFi.
We can discuss this with you over the phone and also discuss options with our modem such as possibly changing WiFi channels etc.

Hi, my daughter sent a email to [email protected] on 16/12/2017 and still has had nil contact from mate, I will contact you after xmas to discuses the problem.....

Vanessa S.MATE Communicate
Hi mikeyf,
We do not shape, cap or throttle any of our plans.
mikeyfasked
Hi I have Mate unlimited ADSL and until last week have been getting download speed tests of up to nearly 12 Mbps but usually around 10 to 11 Mbps with slower speeds in peak times often requiring a modem reboot to help with the speed drops.
Last Friday I noticed that the download speed had dropped to around 5 Mbps with modem max rate of around 14.5 Mbps and current rate seemingly fixed at 6.140 Mbps.
The current download rate does not change at all with modem reboots but the max rate varies a little.
Upload max and current rates are the same at 1.087 Mbps and actual speed tests approach this at 0.91 Mbps.
I have contacted Mate and been told my current download speed result is within Telstra specs and so they will not investigate further.
Am I now on a throttled or limited speed compared with a week ago?
Regards,
Mike

I am about to connect to NBN with Telstra. Should I proceed after all the negative feedback I have seen?
2 answers
Vanessa S.MATE Communicate
Hi Bernard, we suggest proceeding with connecting to the NBN with us, we can't comment on Telstra. Please give our team a call on 1300 876 283.
Better go with Telstra if a highly reliable connection and speed are your main requirements. No one beats Telstra in terms of those.
The only drawback Telstra (and most people would agree) is when you call Telstra for customer services or technical support (in the case of you unfortunately having problems after getting connected), the phone queue can be very long. I speak from my true experience.

I am currently with Ant communications since getting NBN our service has improved sometimes and is A LOT worse at other times, we usually can not live stream and internet jams regularly, the VOIP is unusable 98% of the time. Ant has communicated to me its NBN's fault and if I changed providers I would still have the issues I'm currently having.
SO my question is, have people that changed providers from ANT to some one else IS it ANY better? did changing providers fix the problem? and if so which provider did you change to?

Just to be clear, if I'm getting the great mates bundle with NF18ACV modem, I would not need any addition device to use the internet service at home (a router). Also, do I need any additional device to make voip calls?
4 answers
Hi, I am no expert & only know how to do what I did, so I hope my info helps.
I would suggest going on to the support team at Mate Communicate, they are very approachable & will actually help you, with info about your modem/routers compatibility. The info below is cut & paste from their website.
------
BYO MODEM / ROUTER
Please note that if you choose a BYO modem / router or VoIP ATA device you will need a device that is compatible for an ADSL or NBN connection. Your device MUST be compatible with a PPPoE configuration and MUST be VDSL capable for a Fibre to the Node (FTTN) or Fibre to the Basement (FTTB) NBN service. We suggest talking to our support team before you purchase a new device.
I hope this is useful for you... sorry for the delay in replying.
With regard to "additional device for VOIP. I purchased an "internet adapter" which you can plug a standard phone into (& then into your router) The adapter was not expensive at all. VOIP phones themselves seem expensive... this was the best option for me.
Hi Robyn,
Thanks a lot for the pointers. I would get in touch with the support team on Mate's website.
Vanessa S.MATE Communicate
Hi Nuance,
You will not need any additional device aside from the Netcomm NF18 as this will act as a modem/router and has a Voice port for NBN VoIP services.

would a telstra nbn modem be compatible for a Mate switch or would it be locked to the telstra network?
3 answers
Hey Mazzie, From what I've read in the whirlpool forums quite a few people have had success using Telstra nbn modems with other providers. From memory it was the voip config which was an issue for some. Give Mate your modem model and I'm sure their tech team will answer your question. I'm currently only using an adsl modem which isn't NBN compatible. Hope this helps.
thanks for the information
Vanessa S.MATE Communicate
Hi Mazzie,
This will depend on the modem you are using as each modem is different, some may be locked and others may not be.

Does MateCommunicate provide fixed IP address, if so, is it possible to change IP if required (perhaps at a cost) ?

MateCommunicate appear to be providing a fixed IP address without advertising it. My IP address has not changed since signing up, regardless of modem being rebooted several times.
I cannot answer the second part of the question, please contact MateCommunicate directly.
