Good service in a time of crisis
The policy was easy to set up. I needed to make a claim at short notice and this was relatively easy on line. Staff were friendly and understood my situation.

You do not want me to review your service - slow and unfriendly - after over 40 years with RAC.
Over 2 months to pay out a claim for $500 - dread to think if it was $5000 - no customer service - 10 working days for replies to emails - time off work to get a doctor to certify my illness was not a lie! Never again - have gone with another company for our next holiday

New policy to try out
Easy on Line. Have not had a chance to ascertain whether it is good or not as we have not yet commenced our holiday to Malaysia. 4 weeks to go before we travel.

Good policy to have
We have used Rac insurance travel on a number of occasions now and fortunate enough we have not lodged any claims. Health perfect on the cruise.did not lose any luggage both on the cruise and flight both ways Perth Sydney Perth. Only one worrying aspect of the holiday when we thought that we have to ring Rac when in Sydney on the last day to fly home to Perth was when our scheduled virgin flight home last Friday night 15th at 7pm Sydney time was cancelled and next available flight with virgin was ar 6am next day Saturday. They tried to get us h...Read more
ome to Perth via Melbourne but that fell through. Thought that we had to spend night on the benches at the airport.that is when we thought of ringing Rac for help. At the last moment they transferred us on a direct flight home with qantas. Really scary as we had to pick up our baggage’s from virgin and take them to qantas and only made the book in with qantas with 5 minutes to spare, had to drag our luggage across the road to qantas terminal and get our boarding pass with help from qantas staff. If we had missed that flight don’t know what we would have done, could Rac have helped in our situation, not very happy with virgin airlines this instant but finally got home late Friday night, can you offer suggestions in case this happens again or can Rac advise virgin we are not happy with the stress it caused,Similar opinion? Peace of mind.
No claim to be made, so guess it's costly peace of mind. In conversation one always hears that they don't have problems when making a claim and things are dealt with in a quiet and efficient manner.

No complaints whatsoever
First time ever we have had to claim on our travel insurance in 30 years. We chose RAC as they are competitive, reliable and their reputation speaks for itself. The claim process was simple. We answered some questions, provided the proof as requested and the claim was paid out. Fact.
Would we use them again? Without a doubt.

Came in handy for sure
I purchased the insurance for an upcoming holiday to Europe, but one month later I had a sports injury requiring full knee reconstruction, so had to cancel. My claim was processed in a timely manner which was great, but I just found it a bit odd that the insurer didn't issue a statement explaining the reason behind the exact amount that was returned to me (ie. it was slightly less than what I had claimed).

Broken tooth and trying to have it covered under the insurance I paid for
Just landed back in AU after a flight from the EU, and whilst in flight broke a tooth. Rang today, the morning after landing late to be told that because it happened technically here they wont do anything! Stating your local medical has to cover it!
Well I hope the poor person who was on my flight who had paramedics attend when landed has their own private cover as seem they would also be dropped like a hot potato!
Last time I go near this company

Stress and disbelief
My first time using RAC travel insurance, thought this was a reliable company. I ended up fighting for months to be reimbursed and am still fighting. I was told to come home by a representative of the insurance company and did exactly that. Now I am inundated with trying to prove no preexisting condition, that I followed company directions. The stress has been overwhelming and I am devastated to be treated so unfairly. At no time was I given help to find a doctor and when I emailed asking them to call me they informed me that the company doesn’t make phone calls. I was terribly ill in Cairo and had absolutely no support.

Excellent Value
Being in our eighties, travel insurance doesn’t come cheap but my husband and I had five trips to make.....to Russia, Fiji, Germany, Corsica and England....three for academic reasons and two for pleasure. We shopped around and were horrified by some of the quotes even though we were in good health. Imagine our delight when RAC gave us a quote for the whole year which, with our members’ discount, was about half of what we had been quoted for just one trip. I won’t need to shop around in future.

Everything I needed and peace of mind.
4 Times I've used RAC Travel insurance this year, the policy had everything that I needed. Luckily I didn't require it, the peace of mind was there in the background.

Peace of Mind
First time I've used RAC travel insurance. Prices were competitive, although I can't comment on how well they would perform if requiring a claim - which tends to separate the leaders from the rest. The company is well respected - so I'd definitely use them again.

No flexibility
There was no flexibility and I was unable to purchase the Travel Insurance. It would not cover me whilst sailing on a charter vessel in the Greek Islands.

Legitimate Claim Denied.
First time and never again unless My Claim is honoured. My claim for a dental splint (which I lost in a hotel was denied as they said I hadn't lost it but left it unattended. I am disputing this claim. This is a basic claim they aren't honouring (apparently many others have had the same trouble).

You do not know how good your policy is until you use it
Have used RAC on several occasions, but have never had to make a claim so hard to rate how good they are.

Easy peasy travel insurance
We alway use RAC travel insurance when ever we travel. I can’t remember how many times. I just ring up, answer health problems and that is. They give me a quote. I accept and it is paid straight away on my credit card and as we haven’t a printer at home the policy is sent in the mail.
‘Easy peasy’

Questions & Answers
Bernadette K.asked
We are booked for travel in October, will we get back the $1400+ we paid for insurance if our flights are cancelled & travel bans are still in place
1 answer
I think it depends on the date you brought insurance, either before virus warning, I cancelled my insurance as it was worthless, covered nothing due to purchasing after virus and they refunded immediately, if your insurance was paid pre warning they will cover everything, best to ring them it didn’t take long to get through.

I am supposed to travel to Vietnam on Friday, partial flights cancelled, plus unable to enter Vietnam re visa restrictions, should I be able to claim on my insurance for flights and accommodation?

Highly unlikely, RAC are wiping their hands. Read through their fine print and if you call their office, they will give you two phone numbers dedicated to Covid19 enquiries- one is an (02) number, the other a 1300 number...they just ring out or are engaged until someone finally answers. Good luck!
Hi Ray, depends when you purchased. And if you took out, cancellation for any reason. If you are in the twenty day cooling off period, you will get a full refund within days. Good luck.
Just call RAC if no luck online. I had no issue cancelling mine
