Just started to use my unit again and notice that their is a smell, the smell is very much like gas.. any ideas or suggestions

Hi Ceylan tursunbek, thanks for the question. There can be a smell associated with portable heaters when they are first turned on after not being used for a long period if time as any dust that has settled burns off.

Hello Abbey you would need a gas line from an lpg bottle i believe only the fan will work without gas so no heating without gas.

Hi. I have this heater for two years. But recently, when it's lit, there is a bad smell of smoke. And its light and red light is red. Any ideas?

I am hoping the Rinnai rep picks up on this and asks you for more detailed info. I do not like to give out guidance when their could be a serious/dangerous fault involved. The red LED might be its normal operating light that goes from green to red when it is fully running. The smoke smell is the one that concerns me most. Sometimes you might get a slight hint of a smell that usually indicates lack of ventilation as it is an unflued heater. If its more a burn/electrical smell then it might time to get a pro to physically take a look.

Thanks for the question Al S, the Avenger 25 Plus has an added electrical element which adds another 2kw of power to the unit, great for a quick heating boost. The plus also offers thermostatic temperature control so you can set the temperature and the unit will turn off when the temperature is reached. For more information on the heater to best suit your need please check our website or our customer care centre.
Sorry for the delayed reply as I do not check my email as often as I should. I was also hoping Rinnai would step up and they did. One thing I did notice is their site covers mostly their top models which makes sense. I believe the Avenger plus is their top of the line for "portables" and the recommended heating area is on their site. For other later models not covered on the Rinnai site, try sites such as Bing Lee and Goodguys as they are still listing some specs for the smaller Avengers and other Rinnai heaters. I could be mistaken but I do believe the regular Avengers has an electronic thermostatic control as well.

Hi, I have had my gas heater for 3 years, bought it brand new. A couple months ago I had the unit serviced. Since then, everytime the heater is turned off after use, a strong gas smell is noticed for approx a minute after. Before it was serviced, I never smelt this gas smell after using it. Curious to know if this is a common thing and whether I should worry about it being dangerous to my family?

G’day Katrina. Ours had a fairly strong odor the first night, less so the second and hasn’t worked since. I guess that is the point of my rant. The heater is still with the technician who doesn’t know what is wrong with it and he can’t get hold of the bloke who can approve replacement. Sorry I can’t be any more help. Have a new AVENGER 25 connected to LPG, purchased from Harvey Norman as LPG compatible. Has been used only a couple of tunes but it puts out excessive gas smell. Any suggestions?

G’day Renee. I’m sorry mate, I don’t think I can help much. I have only used the heater twice before it died. I am still waiting for it to be fixed and sent home. About all I did for the smell though was to open a window slightly for ventilation. Hope that helps mate. Good luck.

Thanks for the question Shane D. You will need a conversion kit for the heater which you can order at any good plumbing supply company. This will need to be fitted by a qualified gas plumber.

The room temperature display appears to be incorrect. It’s never below 22degrees and I can assure you my room is far colder than that in the mornings. Do you know what the problem may be and how I fix it? It was working normally last winter.

Thanks for the question Abhi, the main difference between the 2 heaters is the Avenger 25 plus has an electric element which can boost the heating output for the heater and it is also thermostatically controlled. Coverage will depend on a number of factors and we would recommend using our heater selector on the Rinnai Australia website which will calculate the best heater for your use.
