Why this model not available in Victoria?
2 answers
Sen, I believe Vic have tougher rules on unflued gas heaters maybe you can only buy to replace an existing unflued heater, but new installs i think require a flued heater. If its the Avenger 25 Plus you are looking at then its unflued and its still available in NSW. I think unflued with high emissions like the avenger should be banned nationally due to the hazard of the gaseous smell the LPG model it emits back into the house. It gets an emissions rating 3.5 stars out of 6.0, so I guess thats about 58% good and 42% bad for you. I had one in NSW and sold it and put in split aircon due to the smell and lack of assistance from Rinnai. The laws in NSW are loose so I guess Rinnai sell more in NSW BUT take my advice steer clear of unflued heaters, the smell is a health risk, its the same reason schools have replaced all their unflued heaters, JB

Thanks for the question Sen. In Victoria in 2009 there were changes to the Gas Safety Regulations which state a person cannot install any flueless heater as a new installation in residential premises this included not being able to install a new bayonet connection for a flueless heater. You can replace an existing flueless space heater provided the heater meets certain requirements. They are:
* The heater being replaced, and its replacement, operates on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG);
*The emission of oxides of nitrogen from the new heater does not exceed 2.5 ng/J; and,
*The carbon monoxide/carbon dioxide ratio of the new heater does not exceed 0.002.
The Avenger heaters are designed with Oxygen depletion sensors so if the oxygen level in the room drops below a pre-set limit, the device cuts the gas supply to the heater. It is important to follow the manufacturers instructions for minimum ventilation for any unflued heater.
Janeasked
Hi,
Bought a 2nd hand Rinnai 25 Convector Heater. Didn't realise the heater was NG and I have LPG. Is there anyway to convert the system so I can use the heater?
1 answer
Rinnai A.Rinnai
Hi Jane, thanks for the question. In most cases you can convert our heaters from NG to LPG but it will depend on the specific model and serial number of the unit. This information can be found on a date plate on the unit and our technical help desk can confirm if the heater you have can be converted. They can be reached on 1300 555 545 option 3.
If the heater can be converted you will need to order the kit through a plumbing supply company (our website can show you the nearest company in your area) and have the kit installed by a licensed gas fitter.

Have cleaned both rear filters but filter light still flashing. How do you clean the front filter where air leaves the appliance? This appears dirty.

Rinnai A.Rinnai
Thanks for the question Cuddles, has the heater been serviced recently? We do recommend servicing of any gas appliance every 2 years as there are areas of the heater that are not accessible without a dismantling the heater. The filters do restrict the majority of dust etc, there are materials that still pass through the filter and deposit in the internal area of the heater.

Hi, i have a Rinnai Avenger 25 and when i turn it on, it ignites and runs nice for 60 seconds then the fan speeds up, then it shuts off. Then it flashes 13.
I've read the manual but can seem to find the problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for the question Hayleymachida. Our heaters are designed to try to self diagnose the issue with the unit. In this case the error code is listed as Thermocouple high cut out or Convection fan over revolution. Both of these errors will require a service call for the heater to identify and diagnose what is causing this cut out. Our service team can be reached on 1300 555 545 from 8.00am- 5.30pm EST Monday to Friday, or you can book online at http://www.rinnai.com.au/support-resources/online-service-booking/

My Heater turns on starts then after about 60 seconds flashes number 18 in the room box and cuts out. Any ideas?

Thanks for the question Kathleen. Error code 18 could be an issue with the temperature sensor on the heater and it is shutting down as a safety precaution. A service call will be required to investigate and resolve this issue. Our service team is available Monday to Friday from 8.00am-5.30pm or you can book online at http://www.rinnai.com.au/support-resources/online-service-booking/

I have recently purchased an LPG Avenger 25. When it starts up it usually shows that the room temperature is about 20 degrees when its obviously about 14 degrees or less. It is in an open area with no other heat source. The room temperature indicator never seems to vary much, it usually shows either 19 or 20 degrees. Everything still works ok but its annoying because the set temperature then has to be manually adjusted higher than the room temperature for the heater to still heat & the fan to still operate on high. Is it just a faulty thermostat that needs replacing?

Hi I have two avenger 25 and am super happy. I could however do with a longer hose. Where is the best place to purchase just the hose from? - I have googled but nothing seems to come up for the hose alone. Thanks

Hi, I had my heater on "GAS ECON AUTO OFF" mode. The "AUTO OFF" was flashing. What does that mean? I changed it to" GAS ECON AUTO OFF MODE" and it worked fine.
Also it's rather confusing trying to work out which mode to use.
How do I decide which one to use, there doesn't seem to be any outlines in the book as to which mode to use.
Regards
Grant

I have a rinnai avenger 25 rce671tr that has just had its jets changed from natural to lpg but now it runs for 60 seconds and then shows fault 18. Anyone know why?
1 answer
Rinnai A.Rinnai
Thanks for your question Marks1807. Error 18 normally indicates a lack of gas to the unit. If it has been recently been converted we would recommend having the gas plumber who performed the conversion, return to check gas supply to the unit and there are no blocked points. We have a technical help line on 1300 555 545 who can also advise on areas they can check when on site.

Thank you for your enquiry.
From your description it sounds like the lock function on the heater has been activated.
To deactivate the Lock function press both the Up and Down buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The Lock indicator will go out to show that the Lock function is no longer active. The Lock function can be deactivated at any time in this manner.
Our customer contact centre an be contacted on 1300 555 545 if you require further assistance.

Does the fan on the Rinnai 25 Avenger use a lot of electricity. Can I turn it off somehow(fan only) Is there a low option as it seems to be full on all the time and I have to switch it off. There is probably a simple explanation sorry
3 answers
Hi
The fan stays on as that is what draws the cold air thru the system then pushes out the hot. Minimal power used and won't work without.
Lower your thermostat and turn economy mode on, then once room is at temperature it will tick away quietly maintaining temperature.
Thank you so much for your quick response much appreciated. You have made a non technical girl very happy
Yep, turn the temperature to the room temp (or lower) or put in Economy, that does the trick. My Electricity bill was normal after 2 months of having my new heater. However I just opened my 1st gas bill and nearly had heart failure - $181 more than this period last year! My old Rinnai died and was under-rated (in size) for the newer house so I thought getting a bigger unit would make it need to work less, plus it is rated relatively well, seems I was wrong. I'm off to go turn my heater down now...
