Looking at using this in my sons room as he has chronic sinus problems and is always in pain. We have reverse cycle airconditioning/heating and he always uses his ceiling fan when sleeping. Will this affect the effectiveness of the Salin Filter? TIA
1 answer
Barry C.Salin Plus
In terms of use for the sinus problems, definitely worth a try - we have had very good feedback from customers with sinus issues.
Yes, ok to use with reverse cycle system - definitely not evaporative - and ceiling fan.
You haven't advised your son's age, but obviously take normal precaution as with any electrical appliance.
Also, ensure the device is facing towards your sons face from approximately 1 metre away (if suitable)

Can the saline therapy machine effect a persons taste buds?
1 answer
Barry C.Salin Plus
Not that we are aware of.
Of the thousands of devices we have sold, we have never had any feedback advising us that a users taste buds have been affected.
If a person has experienced having a blocked nose for some time, the device may alter this - by working to unblock the nose - and thus the flavour of food can be 'altered'.
(Flavor is the word used to describe the perception of taste and smell together, along with any other perceptions experienced while eating.)

I bought the mini and liked it so much that I ordered the plus… I received the plus today and it has a really funky smell… Nothing at all like the mini which had no odor at all… I don't think this is how it's supposed to be.... there maybe a problem with this machine ... What is your input ?
1 answer
Barry C.Salin Plus
I don't believe there is a problem with the machine, the odour is more than likely coming from the filter.
I suggest that you put the 'offending' filter in the sun for a day or two and see if this assists in eliminating the odour.

Does it irritate dry eyes?
3 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
We haven't received any customer feedback to inform us that it irritates their eyes or, in this case, dry eyes.
No. I don't have trouble with my eyes using the Saline plus.
I don't suffer from dry eyes but I would think that seeing as one is usually asleep when the machine is on, and therefore the eyes are closed, it wouldn't be a problem?

My newborn 2 month old stays with us in our room. Is it safe to use with new born babies?
1 answer
Barry C.Salin Plus
Yes, the device is safe to use with babies.
The device disperses less than 0.1g of salt in a 24 hr period, thus making it safe for all the family.
Wendyasked
Is this like a fan that blows air out ti keep u cool also?
2 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
Whilst the fan does blow air out of the device - to disperse the micro particles of salt - the flow is not strong enough to be deemed a 'cooling' system
There is a fan in it but small so just really moves the salt over u I think not so u notice it in yr face as such

Just received the Salin Pure machine today. There is 2 small packages of salt included. Not sure what to do with them. Is there salt in the filter or is it necessary to add the salt to the filter? Haven't been able to find anything in the directions that came with the machine.
2 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
The small packages actually contain Silica Gel - not salt - and are for packaging purposes only.
Your device is ready to use straight out of the box - salt filter already installed.
All you need to do is plug it in.
I think the satchels are just to absorb the moisture in the packaging you don’t need to add anything
Dinnicaasked
How often do filters need replacing?
3 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
We recommend changing the filter every 4-6 months
Anything from 3 months to 6 months varies depending on hours in a night u leave it in and it think the weather must make a difference but no idea how or why
When my snoring starts to wake my partner again. It varies depending on hrs you sleep and temps sometimes but at least 3-4 months
Arleneasked
Does all windows & doors need to be closed while the machine is on? reason for asking is we are having very warm weather at the moment & need to keep windows opened so I’m just wondering is there any point turning it on
1 answer
Barry C.Salin Plus
Please see below information from our website - FAQ section
The bottom line is that using air conditioners or leaving the window/door open will affect the usefulness of your Salin Plus device, as the salt particles will be extracted from the room and poor air quality will continue to flow in, making it more difficult for your Salin device to control the air quality. However, as long as the device is located close to your head (i.e. facing you on your bed side locker less than 1 meter away), then you will still benefit from it. If you have a strong preference to leave the door or window open then you should continue to do so.

Am I meant to keep it on 24/7, or only while I'm sleeping?
It does not say anywhere, and the lack of a power switch makes me think it should be on 24/7?
2 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
It is not necessary to run the device 24/7.
We recommend running the device while you sleep.
No only whilst u are sleeping sorry about late response
Julieasked
do you have to ask your doctor about this or can you just buy it?
2 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
Hello Julie
It is not necessary to ask your doctor before purchasing the device.
Salt Therapy is a natural therapy and shouldn't interfere with any medications/treatments you may be receiving.
I went to doctor and $1,000 later told me I would have to use one of those machines on my nose etc . I asked him about other options but he had none - this works for me

Does using salin plus make you dehydrated? How long does it take to see/ feel the effects of using Salin plus? My son has chronic sinusitis and daughter is a bad asthmatic.
2 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
A small number of customers say they feel dehydrated, but generally speaking there is no dehydration effect. Customers typically start seeing results after the first night. The product works very well for both of these conditions.
Makes your throat a bit dry the first few nights but after that is fine . I don’t know about for other conditions besides snoring as results are immediate but I imagine the salt would help with inflammation of the nasal passages etc but may take weeks ?

Two questions. Will the Salin air purifier help in winter at nights when the humidity on the Gold Coast is not as bad as in summer. And can you use the device with air conditioner on as well? Thank you
1 answer
Barry C.Salin Plus
Hi Paul, I think we have already spoken by phone, but just in case, yes using an air conditioner is good, it helps to dry out the air and reduce moisture, so long as it is not an evaporative type, which puts moisture into the air. Yes of course the Salin Plus will help in Winter when humidity is lower. The ideal RH level is 50%. Some customers use dehumidifiers to help achieve this.

Hi, my husband and I are both currently experiencing hay fever and really dry sinuses. Do you think this product will help?
We also have a newborn in our room at the moment (she’s 10 weeks) she has no symptoms but want to make sure it would be ok for us to use the Salin with her in there, will it effect her in any way?
3 answers
Barry C.Salin Plus
Hi, yes as you can see from all our reviews and the hundreds more on our website that Salin Plus will help relieve your hay fever and sinusitis problems. There are no side effects and it is suitable to have your infant in the room.
Works well for cold &flu symptoms also reduces snoring and is ok for babies as they need that salt in the air.
Hi CAB, yes Salin Plus does work well for hay fever & sinus problems. I have just got over a chest infection
and the S/P sure did make my sleeping at night perfectly comfortable and I awoke breathing freely and mucous
free! As to your little one I was going to suggest contacting the S/P people but as I can see they beat me to it.
All the best to you all. Ray of sunshine.
