Tangerine Telecom

Hi, I lived in Mt. Lawley, WA. Our area will soon be NBN ready (by June, I hope). I'm currently with TPG & we're experiencing very slow internet connection. Now I need to know if you can provide me a good plan (unlimited) for ADSL 2+ that can automatically change to NBN plan when it becomes available. Please send me plan details & cost. Thanks.

Hi Myla. Unfortunately Tangerine Telecom only offer NBN plans I'm afraid. We decided to specialise in the new technology which has allowed us to have incredibly knowledgeable staff on NBN only. Sorry we can't help you right now but we'd love to service you when NBN rolls out in your suburb. Thanks.

Our technical support team can assist over the phone with configuration of your D-Link DSL4320L. We will need the ULL ID of your naked DSL line - which can be provided by your current ISP. Please note that this starts with the numbers 161. This is required to place the order with NBN. Hope this helps.

Hi Erin, we provide NBN across the entire country where NBN have completed construction. It seems that Greenmount is under construction with some areas possibly being ready to order. Hi. I'm moving to Tawonga South, Victoria. Searches indicated that the NBN is available through Tangerine. I think it's via wireless nbn. Could you confirm that Tangerine is available there?

Also, is the Fritzbox 7490 router suitable to connect with the Tangetine nbn?

Thanks in advance
Ken

Support R.Tangerine Telecom

Hi Ken. We can provide NBN services nationwide and can cover Tawonga South by fixed wireless. Without your exact address I can't confirm your exact property but we certainly service that area. In relation to the modem it does look as though it would work but we cannot guarantee every different type of modem on the market. You would need to be confident in configuring it if you choose the BYO option. Alternatively we offer pre configured plug and play options on our web-site. Thanks.

Hi Adam. I'm afraid it doesn't look like it would work. It needs to support VLAn Tagging and from what I can see it doesn't. We do offer pre configured modems delivered from $99 or an upgraded version at $179.

Hi Lyn. Head office, management and customer support are all based in Melbourne. Technical support and support outside business hours is offered from Manila (offshore). Having technical support offshore allows us to offer industry leading call wait times for technical support 7 days per week. Our policy is to over staff and keep wait times low. Hoping we can welcome you to Tangerine Telecom really soon,

Looks like Tangerine Telecom have answered your question. So far I have been very impressed with their service and friendly staff. You've got nothing to loose as you won't be fixed on a contract and can terminate if not happy.

Hi,
Really not happy with current ISP.
I have a Netgear D6300 - this modem seems to be NBN (HFC) compliant. Is this modem able to be used with your NBN plan. Also if I were to switch, which router and modem would be supplied?
Cheers

Support R.Tangerine Telecom

Hi Julien. Thanks for getting in touch. From the reading I have just done it doesn't appear that the Netgear D6300 supports VLan tagging. Unfortunately this is a requirement for NBN from our carrier. Therefore, I would recommend purchasing a new modem from us at the time of signing up. We offer these for $99 (including delivery) and they come our pre-configured with your user settings. The $99 version would be the Netcomm NF10W (if voice is not required) or NF10WV (if you choose to have voice). There is also an option to upgrade to the Netcomm NF17ACV at $179. Hopefully we can welcome you as a customer of Tangerine Telecom really soon. If you have any other questions, feel free to get in touch. Thanks.

Is a D Link Taipan AC3200 Modem compatible to receive NBN 50/20 Fixed wireless connection?
This service is available in our area. Thanks

Support R.Tangerine Telecom

Hi C.J. We've just consulted the user guide for that device and it appears to support a WAN connection which is what you need for Fixed Wireless. It also supports VLAN tagging which is required by our network carrier to connect to the network - so all appears fine to use this device. Thanks and look forward to seeing your order come through soon.

Hi. I am considering switching to Tangerine, however, have no desire to use the Netcomm modems you supply. By now, am sure your techs must have compiled a list of modems that support vlan tagging, based on customer requests and feedback. Are you able to suggest other brand models we can use on your NBN network? Cheers!

Hi Ben,
A few routers that are compatible and working well include:
Netgear Nighthawk R7000 - Compatible for FTTP/Fixed Wireless/HFC only - NOT FTTN
Billion BiPAC 8700NEXL R2 – Compatible with both FTTP/Fixed Wireless/HFC and FTTN
D-Link 2750B – Compatible with FTTP - NOT FTTN.
Hopefully this helps.
Thanks.

Marty1973

Cheers for your response, am on FTTP. And what about D-Link DSL-2877AL, the specs state it has VLAN tagging. This low-end modem should be fine, agreed?

Marty1973

FYI : TP-Link Archer C7 supports VLAN tagging (IEEE 802.1Q)
also: A number of ASUS DSL modems support VLAN tagging

We have a brand new Telstra NBN modem, can we use it as a BYO modem?

Support R.Tangerine Telecom

Hi there. Without knowing the model number I couldn't confirm I'm afraid. Also sometimes Telstra lock their modems so they cannot be used with other providers (nice of them hey!) so sometimes even if the modem is ok customers can still run into issues I'm afraid.

I am currently with Telstra and pay for a copper landline...I have nbn to my street..if I went with you guys would I still have to pay to rent the copper phone line as well as you plan cost?

1 answer

No you won't need to pay for the copper line as well. That's one of the great things about nbn. You remove the line rental charge completely. All you pay is our plan fee. If you have any other questions please feel free to get in touch.

Not that I have seen. I test speed all the time and it maintains near the maximum (for my package) virtually all the time; both down and up. I host games and torrent and have not experienced any throttling as far as I can tell.

Hi

Hi Greg. You'd need to confirm that directly with Chariot i'm afraid. Often they can setup a forwarder which will forward any emails from that address to your new address.Alternatively they must just keep it active. Obviously we'd love to see you join Tangerine though. If you have any other questions please let us know :)

Hi Team, If i purchase this today, when will my service will initiated?

3 answers

Support R.Tangerine Telecom

Hi ZxJacklerX,
NBN connection time frames will depend on a number of things.

1. The readiness of NBN in your area. Has construction been completed?
2. How NBN is to be delivered to your property? Either: FTTN, FTTP, FTTB or Fixed Wireless.
3. Your building's NBN readiness? Has any equipment already been installed in your property?
4. The workload of the NBN technicians in your area.

It would probably be best if you give us a call on 1800 211 112 and we can check your address. Alternatively you can use our live chat to get in touch and we can check your address and give you an indication of connection time frame. Usually if you have never had NBN before we usually say between 1 - 3 weeks, but there are a lot of factors that can influence this.

Hope this helps.
Thanks.
