Hi all,
Is anyone using a technicolor TGT797n v3 with them?
We've used this modem not only with Telstra but also with Aussie Broadband in the past (for nbn and ADSL with Telstra, nbn with AB) and hoping to use it with Tangerine too.
However when I called earlier today to make sure this can be used before signing up, the woman I spoke to dismissed quite rudely (she laughed sarcastically even as if I am so ignorant and have no idea) saying all the Telstra modems are locked with Telstra and can't be used, so I would have to purchase theirs.
But from what I've been reading up on google etc. I am a little confused as I am seeing many posts saying Telstra modems are not necessarily "locked" to the network, it may just be a little tricky to change the configuration.
Just wondering if anyone has BYO their modem, either the technicolor or other Telstra modems, and had a problem or no problems setting up and using with Tangerine service.
Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers

We transitioned from telstra to tangerine (both with NBN) and kept the telstra modem just last week. Found it super easy to update the new Username/password and didn't need to change anything else. Works great and no issues with speed or connection.
Thanks Katt,
That's good to know!
It is a little frustrating though, that the woman I spoke to was so certain that when I asked (politely of course) if she was sure that it cannot be used, she laughed and said "yeah I'm 100% sure, I've been doing this for 16 years, of course I'm sure. Telstra locks all their modems so you can't use them with someone else."
She was pretty rude the whole conversation, even when I asked what HFC stands for for our nbn connection, she said "It's just a type of nbn, don't worry about it, you won't understand. You have nbn." - which it may be true that I am not a tech savvy at all but I'm not stupid, and I found the way she treated me was quite offensive.
Anyway, after reading all the positive reviews about Tangerine, we were pretty disappointed with the response we got both via chat (which this guy just told us to look at their website for the info) and the phone.
But we can't find more suitable/better value one for our needs than Tangerine, so with your info, we may try giving another call tomorrow and see what they say.
Will update how that goes. Thanks!
They're are extremely rude! Cheap plans if you're lucky enough to not live in an oversubscribed area.

If I select Tangerine NBN, can I keep an equivalent of my existing landline phone? If so, is any extra equipment needed and if it is do you supply it and at what cost?
I am currently on cable internet using telstra. Download speed 102 to 113Mbps. Upload 4Mbps.

Almost three weeks after we had a Tangerine NBN (HFC) connection to our property we are still having problems - Between Tangerine and NBN blaming each other, hours spent on the phone to the technical help who seem to have tried random things, three visits from technicians, a very high level NBN and our Federal MP's involvement our service has dropped out three times since the technician's visit this morning. We live in the Adelaide CBD. The only thing to be delivered fast was the account. Who or what can we do to improve this connectivity? E & P

Hello
Is there a technician fee if we are unable to instal our new modem and we require assistance? If so how much? And how long would we need to wait?
1 answer
You don't need a technician mostly. Go to the IP address listed on your modem on your browser, login with ID: admin and password: admin (unless you have changed any of the default settings). Once you login you can change the internet login id & password provided by Tangerine (note: this is the settings credentials, not the modem's. Leave the modem login details unchanged). In case you face a problem, which you won't, give them a call & they will guide you without charging you a fee.

Do Tangerine offer email addresses?
3 answers
If you mean like [email protected], no, not as far as I'm aware. I never use ISP email addresses, it saves the bother of changing if you move to another provider. There are loads of good free email services, I use mail.com and an old yahoo account I've used for 15 years
Thanks for the reply. Hope someone from tangerine can confirm your answer.

We don't offer @tangerine email address I am afraid Jack. We recommend a free provider like GMail who have great sized mail boxes and email features

Hi, do you know if all Wireless NBN50 plans are being decommissioned in WA or is it just Optus? Looking to continue with a NBN50 plan from a new ISP but they are saying NBN50 ends on the 12Nov.2019. Seems crazy to go backwards? Will you do a NBN50 43Mbs wireless after 12 May? The below email makes it sound like it's a nationwide NBN Fixed Wireless speed reduction.

Important changes to your nbn service
Hi Lee,
The National Broadband Network (nbn) is planning to change the speed tiers that are available on the nbn Fixed Wireless network.
This change will affect your Optus service and we're here to help you.
What will change?
nbn Fixed Wireless Speed Pack 3 (max speed of 47/18Mbps) will be decommissioned from December 2022
We will ensure you stay connected by moving your service to the next fastest option. From 12 Mayember 2022 you will be moved to nbn Fixed Wireless Speed Pack 2, which offers a max speed of 23/4.5Mbps
Your plan fees will also be reduced, which will be reflected on your next bill after the change
Don't worry, we will send you a reminder of this change when it occurs.
We're here to help

Hi. I'm thinking about taking on one of your bundles with home phone plan attached. On installation of our fixed wireless connection we opted to continue using our existing landline instead of an nbn phone. My question is, if we choose your home phone plan will we then need to get an nbn phone or can we continue to use the existing technology?
1 answer
Hi Andrew, I am not sure about your question as I just have the internet connection. I do not need the home phone. I think you will have to ask someone from Tangerine Technical Support.

Can I use modem
Model Number F@st5355 on your network?

I bought my modem directly from Tangerine which was pre programmed and connected straight away. The decision to buy from Tangerine was optional so I guess other comparable modems would be ok?

Hi Tangarine, The cost of your NBN plans are not that competitive. Also I have made some inquiries via your website but never get a reply. You cannot manage to reply to my inquiries how do I know I'll be looked after once signed up

Same issue here ... That's crazy to advertise a simple chat functionality and not having a chat start or even an email reply after a few hours ...

how many wifi devices I can connect to internet?
1 answer
As many as your modem recommends
I would say generally around 6-8 devices a standard modem could handle easily but depending on what you are downloading/uploading
A more expensive modem can handle a lot more
But as far as 25mbps nbn Speed id limit it to 3-4 devices used at the same time to get the best out of it
