It could be worse
It's hard for everyone during this "Covid Time".
My tour of India was cut short in mid March 2020, and the remaining tour cancelled, along with my return airline ticket.
I had been on TripADeal's 12 day tour of India, with my family, a party of four adults, which included a 3 day extension to Varanasi (including flights, accommodation, tours and some meals).
Everything was going smoothly, until the morning of the 16th March. We had checked out of our hotel, and were waiting for our transfers to Delhi Airport, when TripADeal cancelled our fligh...Read more
t to Varanasi. Later the same day, Malaysian Airlines cancelled our return flight to Sydney, booked for the 20th March. We had to make our own (costly) arrangements to return home, as there was little Trip a Deal could do for us. For this, I quite understand, as they would have travellers all around the world, in various stages of their tours. At least I was in a hotel, in a major city with an international airport. A few weeks after my return, I enquired with Trip a Deal, if there was any "refund" forthcoming due to my tour and flights being cancelled. I advised them that Malaysian Airlines had agreed to refund, in full, any flight or portion of flight, that had been cancelled. They asked that passengers whom had booked through travel agents, make their claim through that agent. I also asked TripADeal to refund my 3 day extension of Varanasi which included return flights from Delhi, hotel accommodation, tours and meals, seeing that none of these could be availed. I thought this to be fair, and correct. I was wrong......... A polite letter came just a few days ago,

The title states it all basically. Took payment and then refused to provide service of ANY level once international travel bans were put into effect. Thousands gone in a puff-of-smoke.

Poor communications
Happy for a credit but can't believe I have to pay to rebook. I don't believe they have even paid providers as they won't provide a letter confirming they (or an affiliated company) no longer have my funds. Off to ACCC!

Buyer Beware
Just got confirmation that I would lose $2320 off my $6999 holiday, so everyone complaining about a few hundred dollars be grateful. I am absolutely astounded that they can take so much money from you when you haven’t been anywhere. I knew I would be paying something but not over 30% for a trip that was cancelled not by me that they had payment of for 12 months. Buyer beware there are other companies that are honouring refunds with very small fees.

Pathetic service!
I voiced my request for a refund on tripadeal face book page,they have stooped so low to block me from commenting now,how immature!!!! Your reputation is in ruins and I know there are many people that will never book through you again! You offer a credit minus $600.00, are you for real?????? Why should you steal from the people that are paying you for a service?????? That you can not provide. Frustrated contract!
Would never book through you again! Many feel the same way.I have read the reveiws on the face book groups that have been set up for people to express their frustration with tripadeal. You are not doing yourselves any good by refusing to refund!!!!!

TAD l would not offer refund even though hotel agreed to cancellation without penalty. So who is keeping the money?
My family booked Japan ski trip for December before the pandemic. It was hotel only and had to book dates directly. With hotel. As we have elderly ppl in our party we will not go even if airlines open up I contacted hotel in Japan and they agreed to cancellation without penalty but requested trip a deal contact them ASAP so they could rebook rooms as it’s peak times. TripaDeal don't like refunds or supporting customers
Had booked and paid for my dream holiday and tried to cancel before the global pandemic was declared. They just emailed me their Ts & C's.
Communication was poor with nothing but platitudes.
They challenged a chargeback and offered 100% credit note to 5/21 and asked for a fee of $1299 to extend to 12/21.
I am so disappointed in them. I don't know what travel restrictions, prices and quarantines might be in effect next year.
Don't book anything with anyone who won't guarantee 100% refund if you need to cancel or change.

Clean neat and tidy country inn
We booked a standard room with a kitchenette. Very nice had been renovated and was tastefully done. Great location, lovely pool and BBQ area. Partner ordered full breakfast which was great, while I cooked in our kitchen

So happy, just spoke to Luke about rebooking my trip to Turkey, which is now $900 less after Covid. Something good comes from something bad. Luke is making it so easy to rebook & credit our $1800 to another trip

This company was by far the easiest to fall victim too as far as pay for no service. Our group was asked to pay an additional $300 each peace of mind deal credit voucher. Then TAD said they would deduct it off the value of the credit. at no time did TAD advise a change of itinerary even after requests were made. I am after a refund for a service that has not been honoured or provided, let alone will ever be provided.

Perfect service & response during the current climate.
You were highly recommended by two people. The fact all the covid 19 blew up it’s not your fault our trip was canceled We totally understand and whilst you may be not making much money you’ve been busier rectifying customers issues like a one handed bricklayer in Baghdad with an itch! We have no issues whatsoever and when the virus happened we all cop it. Keep up your good work stay safe & never ever lose your sense of humour in the office or at home. Stuart & Lynne.

Very disappointed - all care but NO responsibility - Do Not Use
Our first experience with Trip a Deal will now be our last. Paid for a wonderful adventure in South America when our trip was cut short due to pandemic. Although its no-ones fault (except China), we failed to receive our complete trip. We finished just over half our trip and were forced to come home early (at our own cost). It was out of our control but we paid good money to Trip a Deal and we did not receive what we paid for. They blame their suppliers for not returning funds paid, but that is an issue for Trip a Deal to manage. Instead,...Read more
they pass the burden on to the consumer so that Trip a Deal is not out of pocket. That makes Trip a Deal look more important than the customer when the chips are down. I am certain they have insurance to cover themselves for such losses and, as an owner of many businesses, I would have never let the burden sit with my customer. They had an opportunity to lock in a customer for life by offering a voucher to complete the trip at a later date (which is wholesale to them anyway)! Instead, Trip a Deal, not only lost nothing on the transaction, they even pocketed the profit margin they made on the wholesale cost of the trip. I would never offer them my business again on that basis - probably worth about $15,000 per annum which is their loss. Of course, I have passed on my poor experience to all my contacts/friends in addition to those that read this article. That was the first time and now the last time they will see my money.1 comment

Devastated
My 73 yr old mother saved for two years to take my daughter and herself to India. Departure scheduled for April it was cancelled due to Covid. This we can all understand but tripadeal gave my mother an unrealistic ultimatum of losing all money or booking with them again before Dec 31st 2020 and if that does not happen, money will be lost

After 3 months of ignoring all contact through emails, phone calls and correspondence for a disaster holiday this company has now offered credits for overseas travel that they know can never be used due to the virus and closed boarders. Due to the short use by dates these credits can’t be used. Why bother you should just give us nothing, which is what you have given all along. Criminal

Never again. TripADeal - Australia's least professional travel company
My friend and I booked a TripADeal 14 Day Alaska & Canada deal departing 6 May 2020. Obviously we went nowhere and heard very little from our friends at TAD until after the date we were due to depart. Their staff are very well scripted but don't actually listen to what their unhappy customers are saying. After every call I felt like I was spoken to like a small clueless child. have my say here. We have two options - re-book our tour but we have to leave by 31 May 2021. What are the chances we will be allowed to leave the country by May and who in their right mind would want to travel to the US without a vaccine? I had read that people were unhappy with 'supplier fees' of $400 well our Option 2 was a credit for travel until the end of next year but the supplier fee was $1300 each or roughly 25% of our total trip outlay. Initially I asked to reconsider the fee in light of what other people who saying. A well scripted response saying it was out of their hands. A second email asking them to spell out what the supply charges were - no luck - apparently telling us which supplier was asking for what would have been a breach of the privacy of other travellers on our trip. I tried to contact the ACCC by phone but kept getting messages to say they were too busy to take my call. Today I put in a formal complaint based on the fact that at the very least I believed we had a right to know what the 'supplier charge' was made up of. I also made a complaint to NSW Fair Trading. I know it's probably a total was of time but you don't get anything if you don't try. I hope TAD gets through this crisis - mainly because I would like to think we will actually get a holiday but also for the many hundreds of other travellers who have been promised credits. I would never consider dealing with this company in the future and will tell anyone who asks what I think - my comments will be factual so people can make their own decision. I'm sure in the good times they do provide a good product but this unprecedented crisis shows when the chips are down they can't be trusted. How on earth can you trust a company who are still selling 'deals' to places Argentina and Europe for later this year. Our Federal and State leaders as well as our medical professions all say international travel within the next 12 to 18 months is highly problematic. Surely TAD have a duty of care to their customers. I have no idea of why anyone in their right mind would be making travel bookings at the moment. I'd love to hear from anyone who had booked on our tour to see if they received the same offer.1 comment

Tripadeal, why are you making this all so hard? We just want to be treated fairly. None of us asked for this. Don't keep people's money where no service has been provided. If you do the right thing and give people their money back, have some faith that people will rebook with you down the track when things get back to normal. We should not have to resort to legal action, ACCC or Fair Trading to get back what is rightfully ours.

They certainly are a truly horrid company and have caused so much heartache to so many people, their has been a class action started against them with Slater and Gordon, we have jumped on board and so should everyone.
