Michelin Tyres purchased at the Preston Store
I purchased a set of Michelin Power Endurance tyres, the are smooth and stick on the road a lot better that the Schuabe endurance.
They feel solid when riding, The store sales person suggested them 6 months ago and she was right.
Thank you 99 Bikes Preston!

Terrible customer service at Stanmore shop
A sales consultant was incredibly unhelpful and obnoxious when we visited (2/6/19) to report a repeated fault in a new bike, insisting it was “user error” without seeing the bike.

Good bike, excellent service
Bought a Merida 20D from 99 bikes at North Lakes. Excellent customer service, explained the bike, rode the bike, follow up service the bike. All staff knowledgeable, helpful and patient. Compared with another bike shop where the young attendant had no idea of what he was talking about and offered no service.

Bait and switch, incompetent bike servicing and bad attitude.
I needed a new wheel and a bike service. The mechanic recommended a particular wheel brand and a hub. A few things went wrong:
1) I live just a block away from the shop. After I rode and parked the bike at home, a few minutes later, I heard leaking air (bike wasn't moving at all). Brought this back the next morning, and the mechanic told me that I was a puncture and not a tube pinch. That's fine. Not going to argue here...
2) While at the shop, I also brought up that I realised that the hub was an inferior brand and hot the one he promised. I...Read more
still paid the quoted price though. His reply was that he this particular hub would be better for my use and then went on to say there wasnt any difference between both the wheel hubs. If there wasn't any difference, then why tell me that this is better for me? He then went on to say that he is a mechanic and not a sales person. Not sure why that's relevant to a customer. Realise I was getting nowhere and wasting my time... I left. 3) Rode back to work in the afternoon on the same day and felt I had to pedal a lot faster to reach cruising speed. Looked back at my gears and saw that it would only shift to the 3rd smallest gear. Play around with the gears up and down, still wouldn't shift down to the fastest gear.Similar opinion? New bike with many problems
Bought a new bike and there have been many small to dangerous problems with it. It has been back to the shop 3 times and for more than 2 weeks. If they had built it up correctly and checked it over properly before selling it then I would not have had to go back. There appears to be a focus on commission and getting things done quickly rather than providing a quality and reliable product.

The world has changed
Bikes are a tricky purchase, bike designs are suited to their intended use and there is no design which will do it all. Even within categories such as road riding or mountain biking there are a multitude of sub-categories. Then a bike needs to be fitted to the rider or even built to size. Once the local bike shop understood this and the proprietor, who may have been a retired pro rider, understood and took the time to research the riders needs and then find the right bike. Unfortunately online sales and bulk retailers like 99 Bikes have decimat...Read more
ed the LBS to the point that few remain other than at the very top end. We can lament this but it won't change anything, as consumers we need to understand this new reality and work with it. Online sales offer almost nothing in terms of advice, you need to know exactly what you want and then hope it works. For experienced cyclists this is not too hard and online means big savings. But for everyone else stores like 99Bikes bridge the gap, average knowledge at an affordable price. My advice is do your research. There is so much cycling knowledge on the internet that there can be no excuse. Everything from selecting the right bike through to bike fit and commentary on every component. Armed with some knowledge you can walk into a bike shop and buy an excellent bike to suit your needs and wallet. I had been riding with a group for a few years and decided it was time to upgrade. I knew the shortcomings of my old bike and what I wanted to improve. My research gave me the general info I needed and then I walked into 99Bikes Everton Park. The bike I wanted was at the performance end of their road bike range and they offered a limited but as it turns out adequate selection. The staff proved more than willing to work with me to then select the one best suited to me (but it was critical that I was able to be very clear as to what I wanted). In fact I ended up with a bike that far exceeded my expectations mainly due to 99Bikes bulk purchasing power. My fellow club cyclist paid significantly more for their similarly spec'd bikes. I suppose what I am saying is 99 bikes can deliver great product at an affordable price for the consumer who knows their stuff. Staff are good and generally well trained but the world has changed and the 30 year experienced pro is largely a thing of the past. Now our knowledge can be gained from the web and we need to use this resource to get the best from a retailer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Great service and passion
Well known Brisbane shop attendants with great knowledge and history owning and running previous bike shops. They seem to have the answer for every one of my questions from bike tyres to decals for wheels. Also happy to send you to another shop when they don’t have the best item

Very average experience for such a big purchase.
Purchased 2 new E-bikes totaling $7000
Also purchased $1000 worth of accessories.
From the start we found the staff were lacking knowledge in various departments including gear and the bikes themselves.
For example, I asked about a product (pump) that can do both tyres and shock absorbers to be told by ALL the staff including their head mechanic that it doesn’t exist. So I purchased one pump for each.
Got home and looked online to find they sell exactly the pump I was asking about.

So good
The guys at the burleigh store were great, we ordered a bike online, I made the whole confusing as we were a bit undecided which bike to get but they were super patient and everything was sorted. The bike we got had some paint rubbed off the frame from transport, they offered us a free helmet. Would use them again. Thanks.

I was given a ladies bike for Christmas 2018, the bike was too big so I arranged a exchange with store and went to collect and the store manager was more than happy to ensure I was happy with my new bike and i was fitted nicely for the bike, so now i can enjoy my new bike and my family and enjoy riding together..

When is a Boxing Day Sale not a Sale. Poor sales staff attitude.
From boxing day the store had a large sign perched in front of a long rack of bicycles "20-50% off Boxing Day sale" When I asked to see a discounted bike, the salesman told me it was only for parts and accessories, the bikes were already discounted to the limit. From there the salesman was argumentative about bike weights, continued to try and sell me bikes he wanted to sell not the ones I wanted to buy, accused me, as a customer, of having attitude and chastised me for rolling a bike off the rack to look at it more closely. A previous Facebook reviewer summed it up perfectly when he said, "Remember the customers are all arsholes in there mind."

Poor customer service and communication
I ordered a basket for my bike at the 99 Bikes store in Stanmore and paid a deposit, waited 2 weeks, no call that the item has been received and can be picked up. I then went into the shop only to hear that they had already sold the basket to someone else. The guy in the shop told me that that has happened before and that it is a certain colleague who does that. I was offered to order it again and wait another 2 weeks or get my deposit back. Needless to say that I ask for my money to be refunded which I got but it took almost half an hour for t...Read more
he sales rep to go back into the computer and hand back my deposit. To order the basket was an ordeal (took just as long to order and pay the deposit as getting the deposit back) as well so overall I was very unhappy with the lack of service and communication which is a shame as this is my local bike shop and I would love to support them. After they sent me an email asking about my shopping experience and I answered how unhappy I was and why. However haven't heard anything back from 99 Bikes, it doesn't seem they are really interested in improving their services.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Website promises are marketing hype
Went with wife and kids to Brookvale store and the service was very poor. No tailored fitting of our kids to their bikes, poor bike options and couldn't spend 5 mins assembling the balance bike for us while the store was empty and the staff just stood behind the counter talking to each other. Will never shop here again.

Rip-off club membership demanded
I saw a cheap ($14) product online, called to check availability and price, then went to store to collect. At cash register they suddenly decided that the price I saw online and that they confirmed by phone (and we had just discussed next to the item) was the 'club members only' price - and to me the price was $20, or I could 'join the club' for $5. There was "no flexibility" about this. The price I had seen online was 'club members only'.
Online you can buy at that price (you 'join' for nothing just by registering. Moreover, the price states "club price" and "recommended retail" [suggesting that this is their price - not that they charge two different prices].
I felt this was clearly a ripoff and left in disgust.
