WILL NOT USE AGAIN!
Like all the other reviews, I've been told no refund as I'm outside the 14 day cooling off period. I purchased my insurance in Oct 2022 for a departure in March 2020. Not sure how I could have predicted a pandemic was going to interrupt my travel plans 14 days from purchasing my insurance to cancel the policy. I am not asking for a refund but a credit to use for when travel is possible again. There are several other companies that are offering credits to their customers (those are the ones I'll be considering in future). I have used Insure and Go for all my previous trips and had no issues (no claims ever made) but in times like these where circumstances are out of our control, you really see how a company handles the situation and this company is one of the worst! Never again will I be using them.

Disappointed and Crooks
Have used this company over 10 times and never made a claim
Put a claim in for the first time on 2nd April and was informed I would hear from someone within 10 days.
Have called a dozen times and can't even get through, no email contact or even something to let me know that they have received it.
Sent in all the paperwork they requested from me .
Suppose their looking for a way out of paying up so that's why it's delayed
Ok update.
Claim denied as of 6th May even though I had Gold insurance with all the extras included.
Apparently because I was offered a credit from travel agent for future travel which I didn't except because I had cancellation on my policy

Never use this company!! BUYER BEWARE!!
I have used this company in the past and had no issues... Until now... Due to the government placing a travel ban in Australia, like many people I can no longer travel. I have asked for a credit multiple times and they simply said you are out of your 14 day cooling off period so they do not have to credit or refund anyone. All I am asking for is a credit so when it is safe to travel again, I can rebook everything! Absolutely disgusting customer service.

Look Elsewhere No Cancellation No Refund.
We took out travel insurance on the 15/2/20 and I asked if we would be covered if our trip was cancelled and was told YES, when our trip was cancelled,I rang to find out what my options were I was told no refund on anything as it was purchased after the 15/1/20, I then told the operator what I was told in my earlier phone call, he said to send an email to ask if they could listen to the recorded message, I did well low and be hold they can’t find the recorded message, so I sent another email to the claims dept still waiting, the service is disgusting, my partner lost her job everyone else is struggling and insureandgo do not give you anything unless things change you should really look elsewhere. REALLY POOR

Terrible the absolute worst
So far, Insure and go will not offer refunds or credits.....for the travel insurance that I cannot use; as I cannot travel due to travel restrictions and so they will not provide any service....

Have used Insure and go many times for travel, very disappointed that we could not be refunded or have it moved to when we could travel, we took out the gold cover, called to cancel, due to travel being cancelled by government, flights and accommodation have been great refunded, I will never use INSUREANDGO Again just feel like we have been fobbed off.

Sadly i feel fobbed off. Really poor communication.
I am echoing the complaints with regard to the poor communication of this company. I escalated my complaint as instructed on April 9 and i still have had no contact. I am saddened to read the reviews of people who have lost thousands. Dont use this company they are shysters.

No compassion, given circumstances.
I intended to travel to the USA and Canada for a period of ten weeks from mid-July, and took out a policy with the organisation, whom I had previously used, when I started to book various components of the trip, but thought that it best to cancel the trip when the extent of the current pandemic became known.

Lost me and my family of any future business
Took out a Gold Cruise policy a year before departure and they have refused to a cancellation of my policy. Cruise company cancelled and government cancelled all travel because of covid 19. Insure & go have refused to refund. None of this was our choice.

Absolutely Disgusted
Purchased our cruise policy in July 2022
For a cruise to depart 20th April 2020. Due to the Coronavirus the cruise line cancelled the cruise. When I asked Insure and Go for a refund of an unused policy I was told no refund because we were outside of the 14 day cooling off period. This has been extenuating circumstances for so many people and all travel agents are processing refunds for their clients. We have always used Insure and Go and have never claimed. Will never use this company again and will make sure as many people as I can reach out to will not use them either. Absolute daylight robbery on your part as a company.

Insurance Invalidated with no compensation or redress
I have used this company for annual travel insurance over many years.
I took out a 12 month multi trip Gold insurance policy including medical excess premiums with InsureandGo starting in February 2020. The total cost was $2700. Due to the present coronavirus worldwide travel ban my overseas flights in April by were cancelled by Qantas. I was able to gain refunds for most of the air travel, ground transport and hotels by various companies.

We submitted our claim 5 weeks ago for a policy purchased in sept 2022 for travel April 2020. We were unable to travel due to government restrictions and border closures. We were contacted after 2 weeks requesting extra documentation that was sent back on the same day but have heard nothing for 3 weeks since then.
We tried calling and was told our enquiry would be passed onto the person looking after our case, but again we have heard nothing. I emailed again to make sure that they had everything that was needed but no response.
I understand it is a very busy and trying time for everyone but insure and go need to communicate better.

Extremely Poor Service
We had a cruise booked for May/June and insured with Insure and Go well before the Corona Virus outbreak. When the cruise was cancelled we assumed we could cancel our insurance and get a refund. Unfortunately this is not the case as Insure and Go just quote their policy and refuse refunds. I think ALL disgruntled customers should get together and take out a Class Action on these bandits!!!

Appalling experience
I purchased the gold policy for a holiday in USA in Feb 2020 for travel in May 2020. Due to Australia and USA lockdowns, my husband and I weren't able to travel let alone boarding flights, taking Cruise tours. We did not cancel the trip, the government prohibited us to travel. One would think Insure and Go would be understanding under these circumstances and refund us in full even though we haven't started the trip. They refuse to refund. It took us many years of savings and they weren't understanding. I have referred my family and friends to Insure and Go previously and I am utterly disappointed.

Nov 2022 gold policy ..Cancelled on govt med advice re high risk pre bordersflight being closed and no refund
We bought gold cover for cardiac condition in Nov.2019. Cancelled trip mid March due to covered pre existing cardiac condition...and high risk age group on Med / govt recommendation to self isolate.... $2600 policy and no refund. Classed as not in 14 day cooling off period. Disgusting. I repeat..We meet all criteria...policy date... nov 2022. Had to self isolate on govt medical recommendation...cancelled by choice on medical reasons BEFORE borders and flights were stopped and closed... ... gold cover for said medical... Absolutely disgusting we cannot get a refund...on medical grounds...never ever ever again. Full refund received in the past for unused policy with covermore....about to try again tomorrow for full refund.

Unhelpful with my husband's death
My husband died when travelling overseas and Insure and Go would not get help underway until they had every document to hand. Other companies start helping while collecting the documents. It was a full week before they appointed a funeral company and I had to give them recommendations! They would only use his email account and seemed to not understand that I was not in the country where he died. They were unsympathetic and very disorganised. I had to send the travel documents more than once and then they rang me to read them over the phone. All while I was in a state of shock. If the consulate had not directed them to take some action I don't think they would have. Never again will I use this company.

No Option to Transfer the Insurance I Took for a Holiday Cancelled Due To Covid
Like the other reviews here I was surprised and disappointed that they can't move the insurance on trips cancelled due to Covid. Really? Every airline and booking site has come to the party but they apparently can't.
I'm going to the travel ombudsman just on the principle of this; it's really poor behavior and I just don't understand their inability to do what every other organisation seems to be able to do.

We took out insurance cover for our Cruise (GOLD Cruise policy) This was back in 2022, way before COVID-19 was announced or made a pandemic. Our cruise has been cancelled due to the government advising against the travel on non-essential organised gatherings of 500 or more. The cruise would of had over 3,000 people on board. Will your policy cover us or do we have to go to arbitration along the legal road.

All policies bought after 4:00pm on 31st January 2020 have an exclusion for coronavirus related claims. Barrie, it sounds like you purchased your policy long before this cut off, so your policy has no exclusion for coronavirus related claims. Having said this, we do not cover claims based on change of mind, or fear of travel, and in order to make a claim relating to cancellation on medical grounds, there would need to be a medically valid reason and evidence for this. How long after a trip is booked and deposit is paid do you have to organise travel insurance to be covered for cancellation? And are you only covered for costs you paid after this time. Thanks

If you have booked and paid a decent deposit ( not just $100) I usually get insurance straight away in case something happens ( eg illness/ accident). Most holidays are booked 6/12 to a year in advance and a lot of money up front. If you intend to get insurance anyway- get it earlier rather than later because it covers you ( less excess) for all your costs if you meet the criteria. Read the PDS -(50 pages!!) boring but worth the effort.
NB - doing 4 trips ( each up to 3 wks )this year but works out cheaper to do one trip policies rather than an annual policy - depends on length / medical issues and age. Do multiple quotes to compare. I also get natural disaster but everyone to their own.
Doing x2 long w/e family trips to NZ also but using credit card insurance- mainly to cover hire car - damage excess.

Regarding cancellation cover: provided you purchase your travel insurance policy before your travels begin, you can purchase travel insurance at any time before, or after booking your travel (e.g. flights and accomodation). As long as you incur loss, and have a valid claim, you are able to claim the costs of elements of your travel booked before you purchased your policy, and what you booked after you purchased your policy, as long as it is booked before your travel commences.
As Husky rightly says, I would strongly encourage you to familiarise yourself with the details of the PDS.
