Since writing the review below, representatives from InsureandGo have been in contact with us, have communicated with us in a timely fashion and have made an offer that we are happy with and have accepted. The customer service has been excellent and the funds have been received promptly. Based on this most recent experience we have changed our rating from one to three stars for our overall experience, the two parts of which could not have been more different. We have been completely honest throughout our dealings with InsureandGo, and we believ...
Read moree this has contributed to the outcome. We have used InsureandGo for many years and have never had to claim. This year we had to make a claim as we have not been able to travel due to COVID. Our insurance policy was taken out before COVID became an exclusion. InsureandGo declined our claim on the basis that an airline overseas, in a country we cannot travel to due to Australian Govt. restrictions, gave us the option to change our flight dates. We disputed the finding, and received an email saying the matter would be reviewed within 15 days. That was now about 6 weeks ago and we have heard nothing. We made a complaint to the customer services department and received an email saying they were busy. We phoned the customer service department and they promised we would get an email within 24 hours. That was a week ago and we have heard nothing. Based on this experience, when we needed this insurance company to honour our policy and they have let us down, and the absolutely appalling customer service, we will never use them again. We are only grateful we didn't need them whilst overseas and in an emergency situation.Hi there, I have contacted you via private message. Thanks, Anna
A reasonable price is not worth it when you don't get reasonable claims assessment
"Go There" no "DON'T GO THERE" Don't waste your money insuring with InsureandGo, They will gladly take your money but won't pay any legitimate claims. You can only judge an insurance company on their attitude to paying legitimate claims, this company scores 0 out of 10.
Dear Paul, I'm sorry your claim didn't have the outcome you'd hoped for, and I would recommend that you contact [email protected] to have your complaint reviewed by a team independent of the claims team. Thanks, Anna

Our policy cost $137.90 and due to COVID we were offered a pro rata credit as it was not our fault we could not travel. The credit is $59.00. Under half what we paid for the policy. Never again will we be insulted like this. Will inform Fiftyup club of this robbery.
Hi Gail, I'm sorry the pro-rata credit was not acceptable in your case. The pro-rata credit is based on how much of the policy was 'used up', essentially. Insurance is based on risk, and from the time...
Read more you purchased your policy, we covered risk for cover, such as cancellation before departure cover. This meant that your policy was providing you with cover before your travel start date - it was providing cover from the time it was purchased. So if, between purchasing your policy and your travel start date, you had needed to cancel your trip due to unforeseen illness or injury, you would have been able to claim. In addition, there are administration and service costs associated with providing and administering your policy. Thanks, AnnaInsured for trip international trip and ski package. Had Insurandgo knock back our covid related claim for cancellation on several occasions. Our policy was purchased late last year so specifically included cancellation in the event of pandemic. We filed a complaint online with AFCA after their final knockback. AFCA's decision is final. In our case the cards fell our way and we received our payout. Just keep persisting and ignore the responses from any representative of the company. Good luck.

I bought domestic Travel insurance with InsureandGo in October 2022 for our trip overseas. In Apr 2020, due to COVID 19, we had to cancel the trip, all my bookings with some airlines, some hotels gave us a refund, but InsurerandGo refused to give us any refund or follow up information. After some emails & phone calls which they haven't reported in their system, I still havent been paid or spoken to.
I will never use them again!

As you can imagine, being a travel insurer during this unprecedented time, since March, we have been receiving an unprecedented number of claims and enquiries related to COVID-19, and as time goes on and more of our customers' travel plans are affected, these claim lodgements and queries continue to flow through, which means we're sometimes unable to reply as quickly as we usually would. I took out Gold cover in November 19 for a trip in April 2020 for my family. Covid happened. We were able to get most of our costs back ourselves (after my wife and I spent hours on the phone chasing up hotels, airlines, car rental etc). It was just a few airlines that only offered credit that was our issue and the basis of our claim. We experienced back and forth communication over 4 months (they asked for documentation twice) only to be told we did not take “all reasonable steps” to reduce loss. I do not know what this means because it was not explained.
I have used insure and go a number of times previously however, this is my first claim. I will not use them again.

Purchased policy in December 2022 for travel September 2020. As overseas travel is banned have requested a refund of premium, ie cancellation of policy outside of 14 day cooling off period. No refund but a pro rata credit which to receive you have to agree not to make any future claim on them. The rationale is that they had us covered from policy inception to cancellation. Have bought travel insurance from them in the past, never made a claim and tbh am thinking they just want the premium and after that could not care less.

Joke of a company. Took out the policy before Covid hit. While overseas our return flights got cancelled. We couldn't return for an extra 3 weeks later, all at our own expense. Even though our policy is covered for cancellation, loss of income etc they say we're not covered! Said we were in Indonesia, which we werent, dont even read the claims properly! Also because our new return flights were outside the policy dates thats no good either.....did you think we would purchase another policy while stuck overseas when getting no clear answers from you cowboys?!! Will be going to AFCA as were out quite a bit of money.

We planned a 5 week trip from Australia to Greece. We weren't happy with the price of the insurance product the travel agent was offering us so did a shop around and Insure & Go was definitely better value for almost identical coverage. We took out the cover in September as soon as we had paid for everything. We sent off the claim for the balance and within a month we got the ...

Due to Covid we had to cancel our trip to Ireland/Scotland and so far have received a refund from tour company minus $1400 which was our claim. Because we cancelled we had our claim rejected. If we had taken a credit to take the trip at a later date things might have been different however why would I leave $10K tied up for years with a possible outcome of never taking the trip or seeing the money again. It's not worth the paper it's printed on.
Purchased in Sept 2022 (for travel June 2020) after research showed it had won a Choice award and looked good. For what, I don't know. Yes the purchasing was easy and it appeared to be good value but that's where it ended. Fast forward six months...we all know what happened....so we lodged a claim for airfare reimbursement because the airline wouldn't refund. We provided them with the extensive documentation they required upon submitting the claim, heard nothing for three weeks and then they asked for all the documentation again (even thou...
Read moregh we could see it on the portal). This went on and on for three months so escalated it via complaints. We were eventually knocked back because we didn't do enough to minimise our own loss (ie we bought non refundable airline tickets). They could have told us that within days of the initial claim, however they strung us along for 3 months. I am beyond disappointed and I have sat on this review for a while so as not to be insulting. I honestly don't think there is any way of making a successful claim with this company. Please, don't use them - it's not even worth fighting for a policy transfer or refund because you wont be covered anyway.Hi Leanne, I'm very sorry your claim didn't have the expected outcome. I strongly recommend not to use Insure and Go for your future Travel insurance. We paid almost $300 in premiums to Insure and Go for their gold cruise cover last year, well before the covid pandemic hit and then our cruise was cancelled by the cruise line is May. We managed to recover all our costs ourselves without Insure and Go lifting a finger or paying out 1 cent. We then requested a refund from them on our $300 premium only to be told all we can get is a credit for future travel. I have since lost my job due to the pandemic and any future ...

Have received the money today-a much better outcome than receiving nothing at all, thanks to the help at AFCA.

This is the first time I have used this company for travel insurance. I took out their most comprehensive policy for our Hawaii holiday planned for June 2020. Obviously COVID put an end to our plans and we managed to get credits for our flights, entertainment and all but one night accommodation booked. We had booked to travel to New Zealand leaving March 17 and were fully packed to travel. Read moreus not to travel. We decided to lodge a claim as this is exactly what happened to us. We contacted this company regarding our situation and were informed that we would be covered as we took out our insurance in October 2022, well before the arrival of Covid-19. Our claim was to cover what losses we sustained after we managed to recover some money for various tours, and accommodation. Many of the travel companies refunded our money in full even through they had stated that the fares/ accommodation were not refundable. Our terrible experience started when we lodged our claim. After two weeks they contacted us by email asking for further documentation. When we supplied all they asked, there was another two week delay before they asked us for more documentation, which we again supplied. These requests for further documentation continued for over 8 weeks then after chasing them up on the phone they said they had submitted it to their claims. After another couple of weeks they advised us that they had rejected the claim because we had decided not to commence our travel in view of the NZ government's restriction on overseas travellers, which strangely enough was one of the reasons why they would payout a claim!. It seems like this company looks for any 'reason' not to payout a claim. We will never deal with this company again and not recommend them. We had been insuring with them for many of our trips and as long as we didn't claim they appeared good based on the online insuring procedures and cost. However, if you have to make a claim then be prepared to endure a very frustrating experience. We are both gutted and disappointed when they turned their back on us during this terrible time of Covid-19. We booked flights to Singapore for March and took out insurance in December. Our flight was cancelled by the airline.
