Recieved as a gift and replaced my Kenwood Chef. Lovely mixer to use. Solid and well engineered. Handles my multiple Christmas cake bakes with ease. Easy clean up. Happy to give it bench space. Also have Kitchenaid Diamond blender.

Small bowl has different base depth
I bought the KSM 160 to get 2 bowls instead of the other model with just one bowl. To my disappointment, the smaller bowl does not allow the ingredients to be mixed thoroughly. I rang the company and was told to adjust the attachment . I told them that I don't want to adjust it because the bigger bowl fits just right. I asked if I could get a replacement or refund for the bowl, they refused. In summary, don't buy the KSM 160. Maybe try the one that has only one bowl.

What did I do before this?
I purchased my KitchenAid from Kitchen Warehouse in Moorabbin, VIC in June 2022. What a powerful beauty she is! I’ve made bread dough in it mainly and it copes fine with it. The attachments are great! It looks lovely in my kitchen and I don’t know where I would be without it. Worth the money spent! It is a very heavy mixer but that is a good thing because it means it’s sturdy. It’s not overly loud when it’s on full ball but it does have a powerful engine so the noise doesn’t bother me. I was lucky enough to get this on sale at the store.
Purchased in June 2021 at Kitchen Warehouse VIC, Moorabbin for $585.00.

Great mixer
I bought this mixer to replace a much used Kenwood which had become very noisy and would have been expensive to repair. I noticed that lots of tv cooks use Kitchenaid mixers so decided to buy one when they were on special. And I'm glad I did. The machine is solid (and very heavy), made of metal (not plastic) and fortunately is very quiet when compared to the old Kenwood. The sliding speed control is easy to use and adjust and the machine is perfectly balanced even when the motor is raised to remove the bowl. It comes with 3 paddles (all metal),...Read more
2 stainless steel bowls and a plastic pouring shield which is about the only plastic item with this machine. The balloon whisk is interesting in that it has an internal and external loop arrangement, meaning that is seems to whisk more evenly than those with an external loop only. Because of its weight, it is quite stable and doesn't jump around, even under heavy load. There are also lots of attachments to buy (but they are expensive!) so if you're looking to replace various kitchen gadgets with just one, this might just be the equipment for you.Purchased in January 2021 at Harvey Norman for $479.00.

Excellent!
Heavy and reliable, would not even make a slight move when mixing. Controls are convenient to use. Bowls are made of steel of very good quality. We also purchased a mincer attachment, which we also like.

In love with this mixer!
I've wanted one of these for about 10years. I got the chance to use one in a workplace (professional model) and really liked it. Ours was gifted as a wedding present along with the pasta maker attachments and I love it. It is study and powerful. It doesn't feel tech-y and advanced - just a good simple mixer that works well. It is definitely a heavy machine so needs considered storage (i.e. lifting it down from a height is a bit tricky). I haven't found it to be excessively noisy which was my problem with my last mixer and the mixing attachments...Read more
are great. Just make sure you read the washing instructions and don't put the whisk in the dishwasher like we did! Pasta attachments are easy to use and make pasta making so quick. Can't wait to try more attachments like the ice cream maker!Purchased in May 2021 at Peter's of Kensington Online store.

Great Machine love it
Mixes really well, love the look of this machine and the accessories you can buy for it but best of all I got a free pasta making attachment. Big mixing bowl in stainless steel plus a extra smaller bowl and the bowls have handles makes it so much easier.

It was good, but.....
OK, my old mixer was coming to the end of it's life, I make a lot of cakes, so before it died I needed a new mixer to replace it. My old mixer was a Kenwood - a fantastic workhorse for 28 years, probably a service would have made it like new, but I thought "what the hey", I just put in a new kitchen, let's get a new flashy mixer to go with it. I went with the KitchenAid - pretty much because I thought I needed a mixer that would take a smaller bowl along with the large bowl which Kenwood doesn't do. The next thing that flipped me to KitchenA...Read more
id is that they are just such a bloody good looking mixer - yes, call me superficial. OK, I get it on the bench, throw in a single quantity cake mix, and damm, that mixer mixes well. I was a bit grumpy with the flour etc that it throws up out of the bowl when you first turn the mixer on to start mixing (even with the splash guard on). Mixes cream cheese frostings like a pro - no need to keep scraping the bowl down - does this really well. I also bought the Ice-cream bowl with it - this worked really well, I have only ever made ice-cream without all the whiz bang stuff, so this was super impressive. The inadequacy of this mixer became apparent to me when I did a double batch of cup cakes in it. The bowl just isn't big enough. I have to make two separate batches of cake otherwise the mix just ends up flying out of the bowl all over the bench. I do have a tendency to make bigger than normal (like not massive, but like a 27 inch cake tin capacity cake) cake and I have found, the KitchenAid just doesn't cut it with the size of the bowl and the splash guard really doesn't fit well and do what it should do. For your average baker, yes, I would recommend it. As I said, it is a damm mighty sexy looking unit, but as we all know, looks are not everything. So, I'm back with a new Kenwood. I will review this after a few more uses.Purchased in February 2021 for $800.00.

Awful product and customer service -
purchased with a manufacturer fault which I waited 6 weeks to receive any information about this item, I continued to make contact as I didn’t not hear from either party. After receiving my mixer back it had scratches all over it! I Hadn’t even used it. It came back worse then I had sent it. Again I sent it to them advising them of this issue - I waited approx 1 month to hear this is wear and tear. I am disappointed in the service to not only have owned it less then one year but to only has used it maybe 5 times. I won’t be purchasing from them again.

Durable well made product
Off the box my first impression is that this is a very well made solid product. I’m hoping that it will be as durable as it seems. It works well and does the job that it is meant to do plus more. The number of accessories is amazing - more than what I can afford or use. Still it’s good to know that the option is there. Will definitely recommend.

Terrible
Broke down early on. Good motor but the rest makes it over priced and not fix for purpose. No good for making bread even though it comes with a mixing arm.

I can't believe I waited so long to buy one!
I received this stand mixer for Christmas after much debate and research. I absolutely love it. I bake and it has quietly and efficiently done it's job. I have made dough, pavlovas, cakes, biscuits, etc. You do have to stop and scrape the sides every now and then but nothing like the cheap mixers I have had in the past. I will never be without a Kitchen Aid mixer again.

My Best Friend in the Kitchen
How I love my KitchenAid KSM160 Artisan-Ice... could not be happier with motor performance - a lot quieter than my previous Kenwood of 40 years. The KitchenAid works very well with different food types aided by the skilled design of the attachments & accessories - especially the rubber edged mixing blade...I also have the glass bowl for summertime pavlovas n mango mousse in Australia:) The capacity of each bowl is perfect for keeping the ingredients inside the bowls & not up the wall.... The KitchenAid is good old American ingenuity & great to see made in USA & the choice of colours is wonderful. My KitchenAid is a piece of working art in my Kitchen - I absolutely love it - thank you KitchenAid:)

Love it and should have bought one years ago!
Love the mixer. Mixing bowls are a great size. Good basic attachments provided, but I do find the cost of extra beaters excessive! Why do they have to be so expensive? Love the bowl shield that came with the machine! Saves a lot of mess.

I have tried this mixer for the first time today, made sponge and Pav, they have turned out the best ever. I am very pleased with my purchase. I found it easy to use, quiet and effective, I hope it continues to perform with such excellence. I will be attempting a batter next.

Effortless mixing, gorgeous design
I love my KitchenAid standmixer! So far I have made foccacia bread, jam and custard doughnuts, and lime and coconut cake. This mixer runs smoothly, quietly and efficiently. It is a pleasure to use and takes the elbow grease out of cooking. I can't wait to try some of the KitchenAid accessories.

Kitchen aid replacement from my mothers hand me down from 35 years ago.
My hand me down broken down in October 2018 finally after 35 years.. I went out a brought a cheap mixer $20 BIGGEST MISTAKE, trouble from the first mix...researched and kept my eyes out for another kitchenaid as I knew they were expensive. Pre boxing sale from David Jones were half price. That’s when I brought my ksm160, I knew from past experience that it was worth the cost and the months of waiting for the right price. The updated model was fabulous, cakes, cream, bread WONDERFUL. i have used all the attachments and the two bowls, looking at maybe another attachment for the future when another appliance breaks down

Still learning
I've only owned my KitchenAid for a few weeks so haven't had a chance to try out many of its features. My first impression is that its weight and finish suggest excellent quality and the sturdiness is impressive. Like another reviewer I found that the mixer is too tall to fit in my appliance cupboard so had to put it out on the bench and this is probably just as well as it is too heavy to pull in and out of closed cupboards often. Having said that, it is attractive and I love the colour (Ice) so I don't begrudge giving it bench space.

Excellent customer service and an amazing product
My kitchen aid works amazing and I love using the dough hook immensely. The customer service is also amazing, I had a faulty beater and one email later, I had a new one sent free of charge (from kitchen aid). The enamel is beautiful and easy to wipe down. The small bowl is slightly less useful than the larger one, which can fit over 4 packets of cream cheese.
I’ve only used the mixer for baking breads, biscuits, mousse and cheesecakes. The mixer isn’t really heavy at all but is taller than most cupboard spaces in my home which makes it slight...Read more

Speed Controller; Hello, can the speed control lever be used as "infinitely variable" or must it be clicked into the preset speeds ie 1 - 10. Thanks.
1 answer
The mixer speed is adjustable between the increments provided. Please note speed increases by units of 2 from 0 to 1 then 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. Please note there is only limited speed adjustment between each of above speed divisions as at each of the above steps it clicks into the marked speed position.
