Unhappy and dissatisfied
I would have easily given Metricon 5 stars for their timeliness and for my good site supervisor but it's only a part and parcel of the whole construction process.
I moved into my first house on the 11th of January. I used to live in Sydney prior to moving to Melbourne, so basically, throughout the building period, I wasn't around- that's why I've put my trust to Metricon. As soon as I walked into the void of the house, I noticed that the pendant light, (which I have ordered from Metricon itself), wasn't there but instead, they have put it on ...Read more
the staircase!!! Yes, that's my first frustration. Logically, the pendant light should have been on the void and not on the staircase, right? The worse is, they told me that they have put a junction box into the void for future light installation. For goodness sake!!!! You have already put in the junction box, so why didn't you put the pendant light with it as well??!!!! Common sense! Every visitor who comes to my house would point it out and I got tired of explaining to them about it, so I tell them not to build with Metricon as they don't care how your house would look like anyway. Second problem was the drainage in the ensuite's shower. It wasn't draining properly and I have a pool of water on my bathroom floor. What's worse? I called Metricon on a Thursday morning- the reception put me to the customer representative allocated for me, but he was not picking up the phone so I left a message hoping he'd call me back but nobody called. I rang them in the afternoon, same thing happened, person is away so I left a message stating that I have a pool of water sitting on the floor for almost a day now! Come Friday morning, I called them again and they said they will transfer my call to the person allocated for me but I insisted, I don't want to be transferred until the receptionist herself could be able to locate that representative herself as I know what's gonna happen- I'm just gonna leave another message. Why on earth do they have to wait until you become irate and get person to talk to you after!? You know what the guy told me (Yes, I know your name but I can't name you here), he said he was sick yesterday and was away. But he came back the following day, why didn't he call me back right? I also told him, it is unprofessional to leave work without getting someone to replace you and take calls in behalf of you. Anyways, he said he has contacted a plumber and he will call me shortly, I waited for the whole afternoon but nobody called me. Let me remind you, that was Friday and nobody came. Of course, you won't expect them to come on Saturday nor Sunday, and hopefully tomorrow which is Monday, they would call you but you'd be at work too. Annoying right?!!! You have a pool of water in your bathroom and you can't use it. HOW INCONVENIENT IS THAT, METRICON! I hate where I live!

etricon were always very polite, professional and prompt, they even picked up on things that we missed and they got things like an extra permit fast tracked for us to avoid delaying our build. Our Site Supervisor [Name Removed] was a true professional and was always on the ball. He kept me updated on a weekly basis and explained every step so well to me as this was the first home I have ever had built. We were always told that as long as you have a good site supervisor then you will have no worries, well [Name Removed] truely exceeded our expectations throughout the entire build, well done! We are so in love with our new home and would happily recommend Metricon to anyone who was looking to build a new home. Great supervisor, Great build
My house build was managed very well. The Supervisor [Name Removed] was open and honest through out the whole process. He kept me up to date on the build and was a professional at all time. It's a credit to [Name Removed] and his support team of trades and office staff to exceed my expectations from start to completion.

few items were subsequently touched up and not noticeable on handover. Overall a top quality finish from a well known volume builder. I had no build issues along the way, i know its hard to believe. Having [Name Removed] as my supervisor was refreshing and he maintained high standards of himself and trades through out the build. We spoke at the start of the build and i only had a couple of things i said i was looking for and they were communication and and quality result. In return i wouldn't annoy him too much. This seemed to work and i was delivered a beautiful home at handover. I have been very satisfied with all my dealing and enquiries directed to the supervisor and to all the office support staff liasing with me along the way. Finally all the costs came in as expected as per our contract agreement. Very happy customer and well done to the Geelong Metricon team.1 comment

We had paid a deposit and went through ALL the huge amount of time in modifying our plans, then picking all the colours, electrical right through to the door knobs. This process went very slowly but after many months we had it all sorted from our end . When it came to getting the contract it was different. First draft took weeks and of course it was wrong. Emailed both our csc and the Geelong Operations Support Manager(who was hopeless) with the items that needed attention. After 2 weeks of hearing nothing I again emailed both these people with...Read more
a chaser, still heard nothing again. After another 2 weeks of complete silence I got my solicitor to contact them, as we were away, and of course finally a reply. By this stage we had lost all confidence in Metricon being able to deliver anything, let alone a quality home, all the while costing us rent whilst they stuff arround! I calculated the whole ‘experience’ had cost about $7000 plus the $3000 deposit they had taken. We reluctantly decided to cut our losses and requested our deposit back as they had admitted the delays were there fault, but once again delay, delay, delay. Finally they offered half and I once again requested more than that. To expediate things I said we would take $2000 to move on quickly and end this long saga. It has cost us a fortune, so be warned, be careful in your dealings with Metricon and ensure that everything is in writing.3 comments

As advised in our Private Message, the matter has been reviewed by our Management Team who provide the following response. Our Team issued a contract in accordance with the requested modifications to the selected home, however, we were advised that this would exceed the budget allowed for the project. A new contract was issued after our Operations Manager assisted in providing a solution for the project to move forward. We acknowledge there were delays during this process, as there are many elements/stages in re-preparing a contract. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused. In light of this, we have sought the approval in providing you with a refund of more than the eligible amount. Please note that Metricon is entitled to retain the costs incurred on the file including obtaining foundations data and costs to prepare a contract. All land information specific to your land has been provided to you. We are not responsible for any costs or interest incurred to the customer during this process. We thank you for allowing us to review this matter and we wish you all the success with your future building endeavours. Regards, Metricon.I repeat nothing has changed. The above reply is NOT all of the facts and this would have been evident if all of the information was actually read.

Could not be more perfect
We are blown away with our amazing Metricon home - got the keys today! We built in Mt Duneed with Metricon this year (2017) and the process has been smooth and enjoyable. We honestly could not be happier with the quality of our new home - everything is neat and beautiful quality - even the fittings like blinds, tapware and lights (we just got the basic ones) feel really hardy.
Painting - beautiful.
Render - beautiful.
Flooring - beautiful.
Communication - amazing
Speed - amazing
Customer service - attentive and responsive (we always had a reply to a question within an hour, usually much less)

My husband and I are nearing the end of the construction of our first home and we are not pleased. Through the whole process Metricon have misled us, made promises that were not kept, stuffed up repeatedly, and we've had to triple check documents for planning and payment mistakes (in their favour of course). ults that we were not happy with. Now we are finally making some progress. A brick wall of the house was pulled down and rebuilt and Metricon negotiated to compensate us on a few other faults. However this was still a stressful process and I feel that Metricon could have done a better job helping us through the negotiation process. A lot of pressure was put on us to offer up solutions or compensation alternatives, which was hard as we are not the building professionals and don't know how much time or money these things usually take to rectify. Perfect first home.
Building with Metricon was a really simple process and it took all the stress off us.
Everyone from the office and finance was so easy to deal with and our building supervisor Brad was great and always kept us upto date with what was going on.
We will definitely build with Metricon again and recommend to our friends!
We are so very happy with the final product, our first home is exactly what we hoped for!

A pleasure to build with! Fantastic professionalism from start to finish.
I can now personally recommend building with metricon. My site manager [name removed] was fantastic to deal with and always updated me as his client every week. As an ex qualified painter the quality of work was amazing which was an absolute credit to my site manager. Metricon can be proud to have somebody with such high organisational skills. Dealing with metricon has been a pleasure and i couldn't recommend metricon highly enough to my friends and family. Everybody that has came through my house has been amazed by how good the house has came up for a volume builder.

More satisfied than newly weds on their honeymoon.
Sensational service from the get go - the sales consultant ([name removed]) was ridiculously knowledgeable and guided me to the best solution for my land. My build was for investment purposes so he took care of everything - all i needed to do was sign paperwork.
The process was quick and stress free. The Geelong staff were brilliant updating me regularly on the build. Thanks to ([name removed]) for the build quality and quick responses to queries I had.
