Had taken out a single trip policy but circumstances changed and with help from the very helpful consultant at RAC Cannington I was able to cancel single trip policy and take out a annual multi trip policy. Very helpful and obliging.

Have compared a few others and found your policy to be great value. Fortunately have never had to lodge a claim. Have probably used your insurance company 3 times now.

The most friendly and helpful staff.

published

I had lost the information on my policy which was being transferred from one trip to another. Both staff members were extremely helpful and very pleasant. I had been dreading making the call with no details, but both were so-so lovely and helpful. I got off the phone with a big smile on my face! ThankYou RAC.

Hire car insurance to to cover excess

published

The assistance, attention to detail, additional information provided and the manner in which it was provided were all first class. The costs were highly competitive for both the hire of the car and the excess insurance. I would recommend this service to relatives and friends. The agent I dealt was excellent.

Good, but very expensive!

published

My travel is still three weeks in the future and hopefully,
I won’t have to make a claim. Yes, it was quick and easy to set up.
I have also purchased travel insurance from an upcoming trip tp Canada and the U.S. in April. Otherwise I have not had any previous experience with RAC travel insurance.

I was very happy to learn that RAC do not have an age limit.
Having insurance is essential to my peace of mind.

No after sale support

published

Noticed an error with the ages on the insurance policy, trying to get somone to assist correct this error is difficult, there is no 24 hour number ! I spoke to a receptionsit who told me the RAC was shutting in 7 mins and they could not assist me! I have emailed, however, this is not satisfactory a large company like RAC should have better customer care. First and last time we will use RAC for travel insurance.

Through Tokio Marine Insurance. We had a family bereavement whilst in Europe. Tokio Marine reimbursed all unused portion of the tour and the emergency flights home. Would highly recommend them.

I hope I never have to make a claim, seems like a drawn out process. with lots of paper work and emails to support your claim. However you are better off with it than without.

Not looking good I would definitely look at different insurance not living up to there name

published

Thought the policy looked good.. but phone up when our flight were canceled and then was told because we had booked the insurance on 17 Mayember which we had no information that our cancellation was to happen mind you.. they reckon they new on the 13 Mayember that this was going to happen where was the Warnings that you should have maybe have let us know before we had taken out and accepted our funds. We are going hopefully to receive something from the airline that has canceled.. but are left with the remaining outstanding!!! Not looking like we are going to be reinstated by our phone call.

Local and the best

published

Very user friendly Policy to organise and staff member very helpful. This is the second year running that we have used this Multi-Trip Insurance Policy and have found it to very good value and very flexible. Ideal if you go overseas several times a year and it provides good cover for pre-existing illnesses.

ripped big time

published

RAC make false and misleading statements and commercials.
Take their current TV commercials where they spruik being "local"
When you make a complicated travel claim like we had they are anything but local. We called their help line but from then on we were transferred to their insurance company (RAC is only an agent for tokio marine, one of the largest and nastiest insurance companies on the world who were charged with fraud and ripping off their customers to the tune nearly $100 million). After a few emails with them we were transferred to their senior USA staff. Hardly local. Their senior management also promised to monitor progress: did not happen. RAC did not care one bit about us: they are liars d thieves.

Shame on RAC

published

Lost a phone in Phuket to one of the honest taxi drivers. Put in a claim and after 9 days got a reply to supply everything from police report, travel itineraries etc to having Telstra writing a letter saying phone had be blocked. Caught once by this mob but will Never use them again. Told them to cancel my claim and I will replace the phone.

Shame on the RAC for being associated with them. Currently have 3 cars insured that will be getting a new insurance company also.

Beware of the underwriter

published

You are not really dealing with RAC. Tokio Marine have a clause which covers them from replacing anything lost by calling it "left unattended". They don't seem to have a definition for "lost". Mine was a small claim for reading glasses lost at the airport but they have deemed them to be left unattended. RAC have tried hard but have no real leverage with TM. I'm very disappointed that RAC have aligned with such a ruthless company. I would not recommend using RAC for travel insurance.

RAC Travel Insurance

We are booked for travel in October, will we get back the $1400+ we paid for insurance if our flights are cancelled & travel bans are still in place

1 answer

I think it depends on the date you brought insurance, either before virus warning, I cancelled my insurance as it was worthless, covered nothing due to purchasing after virus and they refunded immediately, if your insurance was paid pre warning they will cover everything, best to ring them it didn’t take long to get through.

Highly unlikely, RAC are wiping their hands. Read through their fine print and if you call their office, they will give you two phone numbers dedicated to Covid19 enquiries- one is an (02) number, the other a 1300 number...they just ring out or are engaged until someone finally answers. Good luck!

Senior

Hi Ray, depends when you purchased. And if you took out, cancellation for any reason. If you are in the twenty day cooling off period, you will get a full refund within days. Good luck.

Just call RAC if no luck online. I had no issue cancelling mine
