Hi Eve, thanks for your enquiry. As per the terms and conditions of the policy booklet, patella luxations are are not covered in this policy.

Hi Eve I Don Not Know what Luxating patelle is but I am sure guys from RSPCE pet insurance do not know either so to be sure they always say no. If you ask them to point on the policy wording where it says that it is not covered, you will get no answer.

Thinking of cancelling our insurance for our rottweiler & Shepherd. We pay $80+ for 1 dog & $50+ for the other a month. It seems like a lot of money over time, especially if it goes up each year. What if we dont need to make a claim? Is it worth canceling & putting an amount away each month? If something does happen that needs vet care & you cant afford to pay upfront can RSPCA insurance work something out for you?

If your dogs are on the highest cover and have been since they were young ( under7) it may be beneficial however I personally would pop money aside eah week as some vets offer vet pay.Thats like ezi pay for pet bills. Not once did I recieve one cent back for my dog Bells. So angry. You really need to read all the small print. Unless its a snake bite or hit by a car I see no value at all in basic cover RSPCA pet insurance. I only was able to afford it when she was 8. I thought it could help me from not making a decision based on finances as she grew up.Dental not covered. Skin conditions not covered. Stuff all covered. Hope this helps.

No you won't get any Senior's discounts and will be ripped off by this company that makes out it is associated with the RSPCA. Avoid at all costs

I've been looking into getting pet insurance since purchasing my toy poodle puppy two days ago but after reading all these reviews I would seriously have second thoughts about your company. Your television advertising seems so genuine but as usual it's all talk. I am very surprised to your standard replies to these people who trusted you as I would have. Thanks to product review who put it out there for us to see. What can you tell me that would change my mind and choose your company to insure my pet?

Hi Blue berry,
This is just an Insurance Company not associated or connected with the RSPCA .Supposedly a very small percentage of your premium goes to RSPCA the first year of the Policy. And it's an absolute disgrace that they make out they are the RSPCA!!!!!

Patricia
Patricia

Don't waste your time or your money. Put $60 a month in a jar to pay for any get bills you will be streets in front because this company will find any excuse not to pay any claims and them make it next to impossible to cancel the usless policy.

I decided to have RSPCA pet insurance because a portion of the premium goes to the RSPCA. (as said in the tv ad). Now I am being told by people that only during my first year of coverage that this happens. So I am into my 2nd year of insurance does that mean that none of my premium goes to the RSPCA. IS this true?

Could someone at RSPCA please explain to me how they can justify a 37.5% increase in my premiums over the last 3 years especially when I have had almost no claims? "NOT HAPPY JAN". My premiums went from $38.32 p/m, to $43.10 p/m, then to $49.62 p/m and now the latest renewal has the premium upped to $52.89 p/m. I am certainly now going to recommend RSPCA to anyone I know.

In most cases, a premium increase is the result of underwriting changes. If you would like to send me your policy details in a private message here: www.facebook.com/RSPCAPetInsurance I can arrange for a Service Manager to get in touch with you to clarify this situation. Thank you

I've had an 'Ultimate Cover' Policy for a couple of years now for my British Bulldog and today learned that my policy was cancelled, without any notice whatsoever!? We've submitted a claim in February 2016 and got a letter back saying that we no longer have an insurance policy with them and they were essentially wiping their hands of us, loyal customers who have only ever spoken highly of, and recommended, their service.

At what point, do you give up on letting people know where they stand with their policy? We couldn't afford to scrape together enough money to treat our dog and had to beg and borrow from family and friends, with the promise of insurance to help us pay them all back and now we've found out that we won't get ANYTHING back, due to a negligent system that failed to keep us informed of where we stood in regards to our cover. Simply not fair, and a poor, poor way to treat your customers.

Just to note. RSPCA contacted me immediately after this was posted and worked through a solution. The customer Service was great and lead our conversation to an outcome that I was very happy with. It was unfortunate that this was the process that lead to action, or a response but I was definitely happy with how the matter was dealt with afterwards.

Hi, we've cancelled our pet insurance within the cooling off period but a debit was still made from our account. We have not received any confirmation letter for this cancellation but was guaranteed through phone that this will be done. Please advise your accounts to process credit and I have also disputed the amount with my bank ANZ. We hope for your prompt action. This was supposed to be cancelled as from 29 Sep 2015. We just don't understand how this can be overlooked! My reference number is RS03760491.

I am an 83yr old disabled person living on my own, Having insured with RSPCA 14 months ago I am having the same problem re claims. Because of my age and disability I have a vet nurse who deals with any claims I need to make. First claim was for microchip and two injections, she sent sll relative proof but I did not receive any payment,
Two injections again no payment, The only payment I have received has been for desex and small hernia removed. O n trying to claim for a heart worm injection I have been told I have reached my limit of claims so was refused any payment. I now want to cancel my insurance but having read all the above am worried I cannot cope with it. Jut please make it simple for people like me.

No thanks, I called this morning to ask this question and they confirmed that it's quite normal to increase between 10 and 20%. They said all insurance companies are the same, they confirmed that's it's cheaper in the first year. I didn't have any claims in the first year so was shocked at such an increase. To have an increase of such a high % in second year imagine how much you will pay over a lifetime. I suggest people do more research than I did and stay away.

Moira
Moira

Also, maybe answer the question in this public forum so people can see your answer to the question re the increase being normal. I have proof of the increase with no claims happening. Based on this increase I will be paying almost $50pm next year! Started at $33pm, two years later almost $50!! WOW I love my pet but will self insure next time.

Is it true that if you pay your premiums monthly and you make a claim in that year, if you then decide to cancel the policy you have to continue to pay the premiums for that whole year?

4 answers
Brad Henschke
Brad Henschke

Yes we have 2 dogs and pay fortnightly but because we claimed on one we have to pay for the whole year. The only claim for an xray was paid and the rest was rejected. When I cancelled policy they said that in the regulations that they will charge premiums for the whole year which for us is $48.00 per fortnight. When I mentioned if I had to make a claim you would tell me that the policy is cancelled even though you are still taking payments out. Is that morally right or even legal so I am paying for a cancelled policy that is so wrong.

Moira

Thank you Brad, the only good to come out of my experience with RSPCA is that all if my friends have been out off. None if them will now go near RSPCA!
