Extremely responsive and knowledgeable
I've worked with the team at Whelan at two properties i've owned and found them to be extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of strata management and great at following up and getting things done. They really care about making properties work well and are a pleasure to deal with. They are not the cheapest, but the extra is worthwhile

Good service from Whelan Property Group
I'm a director of a strata block. Whelan has been managing our property for about five years now and we are very happy with the service we get from them. Our block is old and needs lots of maintenance, so we are in constant contact with Whelans - they respond quickly (mostly on the same day), efficiently and courteously. I strongly recommend them.
Excellent Service and knowledge
Our eastern suburbs strata of 9 units switched to Whelan Property Group and have been very satisfied with the level of service, knowledge of the managing agents, professionalism of all the staff and very high level of communication. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve administration, find cost savings and manage through difficult or large works projects.

Do they care? No
Dealing with Whelan Property Group has been extremely frustrating and time consuming. They move slowly and make subtle loaded comments that imply you are a nuisance for raising a legitimate claim. One strata manager was particularly rude and raised his voice several times! I would never recommend them as a strata manager.
The receptionist was very polite and straighforward.
The antithesis of a customer orientated firm.
Avoid whelan
At least whelan concedes they only act for Exec Committee. They dont realise their duty is towards the collective owners corporation. So they'll lie n hide anything not in their favour. I wont be surprised to see a lawsuit brought against them anytime soon for their actions. Avoid them at all costs.

Terrible and useless strata company!
Whelans. Is very expensive and do little for my apartment block. [name removed] from whelans is our manager and has little empathy or knowledge about lots of issues. We will be taking these guys to court shortly. Stay away unless you want to be waiting forever for replies and waste your hard earned money!

They always seem to back the Executive Committee.
We have gone from getting multiple quotes to only getting one, multiple Owners' Corp meetings every year to barely one, very detailed financial reports to the bare legal minimum and getting a response can take a very long time.
The building does not present well.
I would prefer to have a managing agent that did not get on quite as well with the Executive Committee.
Financial management seems is sound.
Single quotes, making decisions without the backing of meetings, building presents poorly, emails referred to Executive committee then no reply, action on major issues has taken months to years.

One year in..
We are still so very pleased with Whelan, infact, i can see they have so far save us about $45K this year in power and garbage collection charges........ currently managing major restoration works for us and its all been smooth sailing under their management.
Dont look elsewhere, these guys are great.

Excellent Strata Manager
We're very pleased we made the switch to Whelan Property. They've been very helpful and proactive managers, always responsive to our questions and extremely professional to deal with. They've provided valuable advice to the exec committee on legal issues, helped us get our budget back in order and provided access to reliable trades and consultants. Highly recommend that you have a chat with them if you're not happy with your SM.

Fantastic Service
One of the best Starta Management organisations in Sydney. Great follow up. This company is a joy to deal with as they actually do what they say and follow through. They have also resurrected an old business concept of "phoning the client" rather always emailing. I would recommend their Organisation to anyone that was fed up with poor service and a "we don't really care attitude”. Before taking on Whelhan I was convinced there was not such thing as a good strata agency but have had my faith restored. If you switch to Whelan it will be one of the best decisions you have made for a long time.

We've had problems because Whelan seem determined to press ahead with extremely expensive repairs without allowing proper discussion. We've had to go to CTTT to arrange for a stay on the work when all we wanted was extra time to investigate the problem. The matter could have been resolved much more quickly with better management

As Managing Agents, we act on direction of the Executive Committee, who have been delegated authority to act on behalf of the Owners Corporation. We don't press ahead with anything without the necessary consent/resolution.

It is unjustifiable to ‘accuse’ the Strata Managing Agent of any wrong doing by following the directions of a meeting. Best agency we've worked with
As the President of a 32-lot Owners Corporation for over 10 years, I can say without doubt that having the right Strata Manager is crucial. We have experienced 4 companies over this period, with some average and some terrible relationships. We have been with Whelan Property Group for about 5 years now, and couldn't be happier. Whelan's management team are responsive to the Exec Committee's requests, proactive about the efficient operation of the strata property, and easy to work with. I would gladly recommend WPG for any new Stratas, or those who are frustrated with their existing management agency.

Managing a difficult small strata scheme!
Our small strata scheme had four compulsory CTTT appointed managing agents before the Whelan Property Group took over the non-compulsory management of the block. The Whelan Property Group have far exceeded the professionalism and efficiency of any of those managers before them. When problems have arisen, they have been willing to meet promptly with members of the executive committee to discuss and resolve the issues.

I'm on the EC of a residential block of 50 units based in Homebush. When we enquired with several strata managers, Whelan was the fastest to respond to our initial query, where some other well regarded ones didn't even replying. Whelan's pricing was also very reasonable, especially compared to our existing strata manager.

Whelan’s Property have managed our strata for over a year now and I strongly recommend their professional services to those who are looking for a strata management company.
From what I have experienced with Whelan, I have been very impressed with their responding time – particularly emails. I always get a response from the strata manager within a couple of hours no matter how small/big the problems are.

Having dealt with a number of property management firms and found them somewhere between inadequate, and useless, it was a huge relief to find a company able to deal with difficult situations as well as routine matters.
They were able to "rescue" a strata scheme which had been led into debt by bad advice, set up a plan for getting it on a sound financial footing, meanwhile attending to all the usual duties (rent collection, contracts, disbursements) efficiently and pleasantly.
It has been rewarding to deal with them in a subsequent property where their expertise has meant all matters can be dealt with quickly and expertly.

Whelans have been managing our block at Rushcutters Bay for the past ten years and doing a great job. The key aspect that stands out for me is their integrity - they have never made excuses when something was not done as promised. Our Strata Manager & staff is professional in their approach and proactively manage issues. Whelans also has a supportive accounts team in place.

We inherited Whelan Property Group from the developers of our property. At first, i was hestitant to continue using their services. However, I have found our manager to be professional, co operative and efficient. I read the review from Redfernpoint and believe I live in the same block of units (of which there are 42 units.) The points this person raises appear to be at complete odds with the facts - I have had cause to contact Whelan's on numerous occasions and found that they responded promptly, usually the same day, or if not, very soon after. As far as ignoring the "owners vote/will", renewal of cleaner contact, never consult with owners, no updates/follow ups, minutes never provided, different strata manager" etc etc, again, this is completely inaccurate. All owners were regularly consulted with all issues that arose, whether by letter, e-mail or at meetings. Minutes were always provided, again either by e-mail or letter (and I have all the letters and e-mails from the last two years). The cleaners contract was not renewed for 3 years - in fact the cleaners were changed completely and it was stipulated that their performance would be reviewed annually. Lastly - the only reason the block (in fact only a very small number of the total of 42 lots) voted to change strata managers was due to one or two issue motivated people who took it upon themselves to embark on a crusade to discredit Whelan's because they were of the belief that they had some overriding authority within the block. As far as their costs are concerned - I compared the costs of approx. 10 different organisations in NSW and found that on the balance, Whelan's were about middle of the road and not overly expensive. In summary, I found Whelan's to be very helpful and they did their level best to address owners concerns and problems with the building. They were hamped in their efforts by people who regularly interfered in proper processes and were extremely abusive towards our property manager, who, to her credit, was completely professional and remained so despite the regular disgusting abuse she received from a very small number of people. I would certainly recommend Whelan's again as a professional and well managed organisation. ( note - I do not work for Whelan's or have any association with any of their staff.) Whelan Property Group have been managing our Community Association for more than a year. Recently my own building decided to switch to Whelan due to (a) disappointment with our existing manager and (b) the excellent experience that I had had with them as a member of the Community Association Executive Committee. We have not been disappointed. They are extremely responsive and efficient, and eager to please. They have been proactive in helping us to find savings and better ways to do things. I cannot understand the poor reviews I see here from a few individuals!

This strata management do nothing to building; We are unable to keep in touch with the strata manager, They fail to response our service requests (e.g. urgent request to repair garage gate and elevator). Disappointed
After a lot of hype and a fair amount of expectation, we were terribly disappointed with this management team. Emails not responded to for days, or ever, issues left unattended. Very frustrating to have to constantly chase replies. So many issues to resolve with our block, and no follow up means that I'd not recommend them.

We changed to them too when a new owner arrived on the scene and convinced the other owners to do so because the one before insisted that his renovations must be approved. 2 years later after disruption, dirt, inconvenience and noise he sold. They did nothing about our complaints and always took his side. We are looking around for another manager now and saw this review. Thought I would add our experiences.

They are bias and not fair and take sides of owners who will keep them in the management.
Outstanding service
Whelan stand out from the rest of the market. Whilst being big enough to give us the various services we require (online services, service level standards, etc) they are still 'boutique' and customer focused and will tailor their services to their buildings. Chris Whelan still remains contactable as well which is something I have found rare of licensees/managing directors in my time as an Executive Committee member.

I organised the selection of new strata mgr after being with Clisdell's (possibly the most disorganised and expensive strata company - avoid at all cost). We are a block of 6 and given our size, we would have been lost on most strata rolls. Chris Whelan came out, introduced himself and we have not looked back since. Tight set up, good mgmt - recommend !
